San Antonio Spurs -- Coach Pop Hooked Us Up ... Dinner, Drinks, Party Bus

0504_spurs_twitterThe guy who organized the San Antonio Spurs post-Game 7 mega-bash was their very own coach — who paid for a fancy steak dinner, drinks and a party bus to thank his players … TMZ Sports has learned. 


Our Spurs sources tell us …Coach Gregg Popovich wanted to show his appreciation to his players after they were eliminated from the playoffs Saturday night … so he organized a night out in Hollywood. 


We’re told he set up a post-game steak dinner at Mastros in Beverly Hills … and paid for EVERYTHING (and this place sure as hell ain’t cheap). 


Afterward, Pop hired a party bus to chauffeur the guys to Project Club L.A. — and encouraged the team to “take their minds off the game and let loose” … not wallow in their sorrows.


The guys did just that … some harder than others … and as we previously reported, Tim Duncan had to carry at least ONE of his over-intoxicated teammates back to the bus. 


Pretty cool boss.

Beckford made his Chippendales debut Friday night at the Rio — and gave Sheryl a very up close and personal introduction to his man parts … while slipping out of his towel and into briefs.

Grace Lee Whitney Dies: Star Trek Actress Was 85

Actress Grace Lee Whitney has passed away at the age of 85. Whitney was best known for her portrayal of Yeoman Janice Rand on the original Star Trek TV series.

Despite being dropped from the show after just eight episodes, Whitney reprised her role in five Star Trek theatrical films and even had a cameo appearance on the Star Trek: Voyager spinoff series in 1996.


In addition to her acting work, Whitney was an accomplished singer, dancer and author. She released a popular memoir entitled The Longest Trek: My Tour of the Galaxy in 1998.


Though she sang with some of the world's most famous orchestras, and her film credits include such classics as Some Like It Hot, Whitney maintained that her greatest triumph was conquering addiction.


A recovering alcoholic who spent the last 35 years of her life helping others who struggled with substance abuse, Whitney stated in several interviews that she would rather be known as a survivor of addiction than as an actress on Star Trek.


Earlier this year, Whitney spoke publicly about the death of Leonard Nimoy, calling her famous co-star "a great friend" whom she credited with helping her to overcome her alcoholism.
