Kris Jenner has no idea why people are still talking about the Kim Kardashian sex tape.
In a new profile for The New York Times Magazine, the momager scoffs at the notion that her daughter getting railed by Ray J on camera is why her loved ones are now so rich and famous.
"That was a smaller seed than people seemed to think," Jenner says of the Kim Kardashian: Superstar hype and/or sale figures*.
Instead, Kris attributes her family's success to Keeping Up with the Kardashians and the "natural" drama that has accompanied the sibling dynamic of that show.
(*NOTE: This is empirically false. The Kim Kardashian sex tape is the highest-grossing celebrity sex tape of all-time.)
Kris got her start as a manager way back when Bruce Jenner was working as a motivational speaker.
She says she helped him take off via a "mix of blood, sweat and tears, enthusiasm, determination and just never sleeping and getting the word out there."
She applies this same attitude/strategy to the careers of her children.
"It doesn’t mean that we’re always looking for more or that we’re greedy," Kris argues.
"There’s a lot of people that have great ideas and dreams and whatnot, but unless you’re willing to work really, really hard, and work for what you want, it’s never going to happen.
"And that’s what’s so great about the girls. It’s all about their work ethic."
Seriously, people, do not underestimate the work ethic required to wake up in the morning, snap a selfie and put it on Instagram.
Jenner also responds in the feature piece to accusations of being controlling.
"I like everything a certain way," she says. "I’m not somebody who can just lay back and let it happen. That’s never going to happen for me."
