New Rumored Ghostbusters Reboot Plot! But Wait — Is It Too Similar To The Original?!

They came, they saw… have we seen this before?

The last couple weeks we’ve gotten quite a bit of Ghostbusters news — major announcements like Chris Hemsworth joining the cast, and the director Paul Feig teasing the slime for his upcoming all lady reboot, filming has begun. Yesterday we even got our first glimpse of Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, and Leslie Jones on set!

But today there’s a bit bigger news if it’s true!

A new rumor is flying around about the plot of the film. According to a source, Boston Herald is reporting that Wiig and McCarthy are both unrecognized authors who write a book proposing the idea that ghosts are real. After a few years under the radar, Wiig gets a job at Columbia U and the book resurfaces and she’s ultimately laughed out of the University.

It’s soon after this that Wiig’s character teams up with McCarthy and the other two future Ghostbusters. This is when Wiig has the last laugh when ghosts start to invade Manhattan and only her and her team can exterminate them and save the world!

We’re definitely intrigued by Feig’s take on the reboot and excited by the casting of Hemsworth — we just hope it’s going to have a new fresh take and not mirror the original too much. It’s bad enough that they’re remaking rebooting one of the all time classic comedies, but if they going to, make sure to make it NEW!

What do you think? If the rumor is true do you feel it’s a bit too similar to the original?
