Jake Gyllenhaal Joins Bombing Survivor Jeff Bauman At Red Sox Game

Jeff Bauman was waiting for his wife, Erin to cross the finish line at the 2013 Boston Marathon.

But then, two bombs went off, and Bauman was so badly injured that both of his legs had to be amputated below the knee.

Three years and one daughter later, Bauman got to watch Erin cross the finish line, like she was supposed to that day.

Earlier, Bauman joined Jake Gyllenhaal to throw out the first pitch at Fenway park, where the Red Sox were playing the Toronto Blue Jays.

Gyllenhaal will play Bauman in the film adaptation of his memoir, Stronger, written after the tragedy that left three dead and thousands injured.

The star is currently filming in the city, and has been spotted working out in neighborhood parks and a Soul Cycle studio in Back Bay.

Gyllenhaal (wearing David Ortiz’s #34 jersey) carried Bauman’s daughter, Nora to the pitcher’s mound where both men kicked off the game.

Both men are honorary co-captains of Boston Medical Center’s 2016 Boston Marathon, and on the eve of the world’s oldest marathon, joined their team for a pasta dinner at the Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel, according to People.

The team has raised almost $ 638,000 for the hospital, where Bauman was treated back in 2013.
