Tori Spelling: Recovering From Severe Burns After Hibachi Accident

After falling on a hibachi grill at Benihana Teppanyaki restaurant in LA, Tori Spelling suffered severe burns. The accident occurred Easter Sunday, but she is still in recovery.

According to her husband, Dean McDermott, "She’s recovering, doing pretty good.”

He made this announcement while he was promoting his new book in New York City Wednesday, April 29.  He confirmed that she is “at home resting, she’s not here in New York with me.”

The burns on Spelling’s right arm were so severe she received skin grafts.

McDermott told the New York Daily News that he and his wife “don’t know” if they will press charges against the restaurant.

This is just another thing to add to a list of problems for Spelling and McDermott.

In 2013, McDermott cheated on Tori with a woman named Emily Goodhand.  Later that year, he checked into rehab.

The aftermath of his scandal was documented on their reality show True Tori. So dealing with tough stuff isn’t new for the couple.

However, Dean claims his marriage is "amazing."

In fact, McDermott noted "Tragedy and going through bad things — sometimes it can really help and it really did [with us]. It really made us look at what was going on with our relationship.”

He continued, "We took a lot of great stuff away from a horrible, horrible experience and our relationship is solid. What we went through publicly, I learned a lot, I wouldn’t do it again. At the end of the day we’re together, we’re happy and we’re working on our relationship and we have a beautiful family and a beautiful life, it all worked out in the end.”

Although Tori is still recovering, the couple has a lot to celebrate.  McDermott has a new cookbook coming out, and Dean is celebrating his sobriety.

"A year, four months, and fifteen days," he said.

"It feels great, I’ve been in and out of 12 step programs before over the years, this time I’m really getting it. Really, really getting it and it saved my life, it really did and I’m so grateful for it."
