According to Hill’s friend Jennifer Swift … the 36-year-old fighter was diagnosed with pneumonia a few weeks ago. We’re told he underwent a lung transplant … but the lung collapsed and “it went downhill from there.”
We’re told Hill was placed on life support … and his family ultimately made the decision to remove him … and he passed away Thursday morning.
Hill is survived by his wife and three children.
Hill made his UFC debut in 2008 after appearing on “The Ultimate Fighter 5″ … and was most notably remembered for snapping his right leg in a gruesome injury suffered during a televised fight.
Hill battled back and continued his career … most recently competing at an MMA event in Florida back in February.
