Zayn Malik has entered a plea of self-defense.
The former One Direction member (isn't that depressing to read?!?) got into it over Twitter yesterday with ex-colleague Louis Tomlinson, coming to viral blows with his one-time friend.
It all started when producer Naughty Boy, who is allegedly working with Zayn on a solo album, posted a picture of him and Malik.
A few hours later, Tomlinson chimed in via Twitter with the followind dig:
“Remember when you were 12 and you used to think those Mac filters for your pictures were cool haha !”
Ouch. Shots fired, huh?
So Malik fired back and wrote: “remember when you had a life and stopped making bitchy comments about mine ?”
Zayn, of course, quit One Direction several weeks ago.
He claimed at the time that he just wanted to live a "normal life," but has gotten caught up since in an onslaught of innuendo, from talk that he was fired for drug abuse ... to a rumor that he's dating Ellie Goulding.
Malik has remained mostly mum throughout the ordeal, however, while this is the first instance of any One Direction member publicly taking issue with the artist.
Facing backlash for his response to Tomlinson, Malik Tweeted last night:
"Don't know why I'm being attacked for defending myself , people got it twisted! I love my fans ?! Every single one of you."
We're gonna assume that Zayn didn't mean to pose that as a question. He likely does truly love his fans.
