The Little Couple has a very big announcement to make.
Actually, The Little Couple has TWO very big announcements to make.
First, the TLC series is heading back to the air (following a legal dispute we’ll delve into below), with stars Dr. Jen Arnold and Bill Klein announcing new episodes of their family’s program will premiere on September 19.
Second, they will not emanate from Houston.
The father, mother and their pair of adopted children are off to Florida!
The family had been residing in Houston for years because Jen was serving as the medical director of the Simulation Center at Texas Children’s Hospital and the Assistant Professor of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology at Baylor College of Medicine.
But she’s now accepted a new position in real life, which will affect the basis and storylines for the show in semi-real life.
Arnold is now working at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in in St. Petersburg – and it doesn’t appear as if six-year old son Will or five-year old daughter Zoey have a problem living near the beach:
Filming on a new season of The Little Couple had been on hold due to disputes between the network’s parent company, Discovery, and the show’s production company, LMNO.
Back in June of 2016, LMNO filed a $ 7 million breach-of-contract and copyright infringement lawsuit against Discovery.
The company accused the network giant at the time of conspiring with a “criminal extortionist” in order to edge LMNO out of six of its programs, including The Little Couple.
But all legal issues have apparently been ironed out and TLC viewers will have a chance this fall to once again follow the lives of this unique family.
“I’m thrilled to return home to Florida,” Arnold said in a press release from her new hospital, adding:
““The opportunity at Johns Hopkins All Children’s is a perfect fit personally for me, my husband, and two kids and professionally with the growing education and research resources at the hospital.”
Based on a sneak peek of the new season shared by People Magazine this week, it appears as if the family will take its first international trip together to the United Kingdom.
The parents and two kids will also visit Vermont, while Jen and Bill will deal with day-to-day activities for their children such as swim lessons, karate and speech therapy.
“They’ve both become more independent,” Jen says of her toddlers in this same preview. “It’s definitely hard being a parent, but that’s expected.”
The Little Couple is one of multiple shows TLC airs that focuses on smaller-than-average human beings.
We previously confirmed that 7 Little Johnstons would return later this year for season 3, while Little People, Big World has never been more popular.
Here is a rundown of the official The Little Couple announcement, per the show’s official TLC website:
This is not a drill! The Little Couple is returning to TLC this fall, and our hearts could not be more full!
That’s right.
You’re reuniting with the fan-favorite family Tuesday, September 19th at 9/8c.
Last time we checked in with Dr. Jen Arnold and Bill Klein, the couple was continuing to navigate life following two international adoptions, Bill’s back surgery, and Jen’s battle with cancer.
This season, the family brings us along for some exciting travels from Washington D.C. all the way to London!
Along the way there are also some major milestones, including birthdays, new businesses, and a decision about Jen’s career that will affect the entire family.
Out of the blue, Jen is offered a job in St. Petersburg, Florida with Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. While Jen and Bill are excited about the prospect of living in Florida, they worry about how the kids will handle moving.
The adorable Will and Zoey are older and more independent, and while that means a whole new set of challenges for the parents, this family is only growing closer and stronger!
