Alex Trebek Spits Drake"s "Jumpman," Canadian Hip Hop Peaks

Alex Trebek might be the realest G in the world of syndicated television.

For years, he’s defended his turf from mark-ass tricks like Pat Sajak, Thursday night football broadcasts, and whatever f–kboy tried to jack his audience by inventing pub trivia.

Now, Trebek is sending a message to anyone who doubts his street cred by spittin’ bars from his fellow Canadian Mr. Aubrey Drake Graham:

Yes, Trebek’s version is at once more Canadian and more gangsta that Drake’s.

Hopefully, Drizzy is working on a Sean Connery-sampling diss track at this very moment.

Drake vs. Trebek is a feud we need in out lives.

Of course, like having your song parodied by Weird Al, having your rhymes recited in the form of an answer by Al Trizzy has become something of an honor in the music industry.

In the past couple years, we’ve seen Trebek sing Rihanna.

We’ve seen him croon the lyrics to the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air theme song.

We’ve even watched with glee as he rapped an entire category, whilst giving shoutouts to fellow OGs, such as Dr. Dre.

Through it all, Trebek never even came close to dropping his news anchor-esque swag, which is one of the reasons he remains a broadcasting legend.

Sadly, Drake has yet to give props to his fellow neighbor to the north for making his 2015 sneaker ode fresh again.

Some cats just can’t handle being upstaged.

Of course, this isn’t the first time another artist has put their own spin on “Jumpman.”

You may remember this self-deprecating Taylor Swift Apple commercial:

These days, of course, it’s being rumored that Swift and Drake are dating.

So maybe Aubrey really considers imitation to be the sincerest form of flattery.

Perhaps instead of a diss track, he’s working on a Trebek tribute album.

We imagine it’ll be titled Views (From Behind the Podium) and feature the sure-to-be hit single “Started From the Bottom (Of the Category Because I’m Looking for the Daily Double)”.

Maybe he’ll follow that up with “Just Hold On (We’re Going to Final Jeopardy)”.

Okay, we’re officially out of Drake-Jeopardy jokes.

For now…
