Oh, how the PR tables have turned.
In the aftermath of Angelina Jolie’s decision to divorce Brad Pitt, the Internet was chock full of questions about the actor’s actions as a father.
Was he really a big drinker? Did he use drugs around his kids? Did he actually assault his 15-year old son, as Jolie allegedly accused him of doing on board a private jet in September?
Just four days after this supposed incident, Jolie stunned the world with her divorce following… and Pitt’s reputation was left in tatters.
Fast forward a few months later, however, and Pitt has not been charged with any kind of abuse, despite a detailed investigation by both the FBI and Child Protective Services.
Moreover, the actor received a standing ovation at the Golden Globe Awards in January and seems to be back in the good graces of the public.
Pitt opened up like never before in a new interview with GQ, for example, confessing to a problem with drinking and breaking his silence on the end of Brangelina.
How has Jolie reacted to this turning of events?
To Pitt coming across as raw and honest and sympathetic?
Not well, according to an anonymous Hollywood Life source.
“The last few months have really taken a toll, and she’s been feeling extremely sad and lonely,” this insider tells the website, adding:
“All of the kids are worried about her — Maddox particularly.
“He’s assumed the role of ‘man of the house’ now Brad is no longer there. Maddox is constantly trying to get his mom to cheer up and live a healthy, happy life.”
Well, sheesh. That’s just depressing to read.
An earlier report had hinted at similar sentiments.
About a week ago, Hollywood Life quoted a different source that claimed Jolie wasn’t entirely over Pitt. It even alleged she had set up a Google Alert with his name.
Which is downright hilarious, if true.
In this case, it sounds as if Pitt’s candor in the aforementioned GQ cover story has really left an impact on his estranged wife.
“It’s just very, very jarring for the kids, to suddenly have their family ripped apart,” Pitt told that magazine, adding:
“Our focus is that everyone come out stronger and better people – there is no other outcome.”
Pitt later said he doesn’t want to “live” as someone consumed by “hatred” or the need to be vindicated by any sort of win over his ex-wife.
This is all music to Angelina’s ears apparently.
“She will always love Brad and feels like anything is possible for their future and the future of their family,” a second source tells Hollywood Life, actually hinting that a reconciliation could be in the cards.
“That interview was a step in the right direction.”
Wow. This is stunning to consider.
We guess Jolie isn’t engaged to some random British dude after all, huh?
Could you actually see Pitt and Jolie running their romance back?!? Do you want to see this?
It’s far more fun to imagine them dating other people, wouldn’t you say?
While we try to get to the bottom of Brangelina’s futue, we do send our very best to Angelina herself.
Say what you want about the star (as many people often have; see slideshow above), but she doesn’t deserve to be this sad and this lonely…
… and her kids do not deserve to be this concerned over their mother.
