As the world anxiously awaits Kate Middleton and Prince William’s overdue baby, Prince Harry flew out of London late Monday to return to Australia. Now that he is gone, Kate Middleton might be induced, and Harry will miss the birth!
Prince Harry, 30, hoped to stick around long enough to meet his newest niece or nephew. He made a stop in the U.K. this weekend, but now he won’t be able to meet his brother’s baby until mid-May.
Harry returned to England Saturday, April 25, after attending Gallipoli event in Turkey with Prince Charles.
He took a few minutes to make an appearance at the London Marathon Saturday. Then, he visited his brother and sister-in-law at Kensington Palace.
He held out leaving as long as he could by taking a late flight out on Monday. But he had to return to Australia to start a second phase with the Australian Army units in Perth and Sydney.
Prince Harry’s next visit to the U.K. will be after his official New Zealand tour, May 9 through May 16.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge continue to patiently wait for the next royal baby. The couple’s first child, Prince George, also waited past his due date before making his grand appearance.
Though the gender has not been revealed, Kate and William want a girl (as does the rest of the world). Prince Harry even hopes for a niece:
"I can’t wait to see my brother suffer more," he joked. "And with any luck, if it’s a girl, then he’ll suffer even greater. I’d love to see him try and cope with that!” he added.
