This Is How Melissa Rivers And Her Son Cooper Continue To Keep Joan Rivers' Memory Alive

Can you believe it’s been eight months since Joan Rivers passed away?

While her memory lives on in many ways through the legacy she’s left behind, Melissa Rivers reveals she tries not to think about how long it has been since her mother passed away from surgery complications.

The 47-year-old told revealed:

“I never let myself imagine life without her. Why would I want to?

So how does she deal with the fact that the legendary comedian isn’t around anymore? By writing a book!

In The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief and Manipulation, Melissa pays tribute to her mom by recalling all of their memories together.

Melissa said:

“It was very, very cathartic to write.”

Although it’s a lot easier for Melissa and her son Cooper to cope with the fact that Joan is no longer around, in the beginning, it was a hard adjustment.

The Fashion Police executive producer recalls:

“Who do you call and say you got there safely? Even if it’s the middle of the night? That’s when it really hits me. Getting in the car at the airport, and, you know, ‘Who do I call?’

[Cooper] has lost his partner in crime. He would get away with everything and she would indulge him. I would say to her, ‘Are you really trying to undermine all my authority?’ And she’d say, ‘Yeah, pretty much. Being a grandparent is the best because it’s all of the fun and none of the crap.'”

It’s nice the mother and son duo have fond memories to look back on.
