Christina El Moussa is just as good at flipping men as she is houses … or something. Looks like she and Tarek are seeing other people, alright.
She’s reportedly dating Gary Anderson … who was also there when now-estranged husband Tarek left the couple’s house with a gun in May.
Gary not only witnessed the incident and was on the scene when police responded to a “a call of a possibly suicidal male with a gun.”
He’s a contractor who works for the HGTV Flip or Flop couple!
Anderson is the one who told police he saw Tarek bolt from the house and onto a hiking trail, prompting the Christina El Moussa 911 call.
Gary claimed Christina, who was shaking and crying, told him Tarek had taken a gun (which he later said was just for protection from wildlife).
While he’s done work for the El Moussas, Anderson was at their neighbor’s house when Tarek bolted, according to police quoted by TMZ.
Fast forward a few months and she was ready to hit the market!
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department went to the real estate agents’ home on May 23 and “made contact with a witness, Gary Anderson.”
At that point, the contractor “relayed that he was working at the house next door when we saw Tarek El Moussa run out of his back door.”
Then, he saw the HGTV star “jump over his back fence and walk northbound into the hiking trails of the Chino Hills State Park.”
After police located Tarek, he stated that he didn’t intend to hurt himself or anyone else and just wanted to “blow off some steam.”
Nevertheless, the reality TV personality agreed to relinquish all firearms on the premises, and officers took five guns from a safe there.
Little is known about how and when exactly her romance with Anderson came to pass, but Christina and Tarek do seem quite amicable.
In fact, it’s not entirely clear how TMZ even found out about it.
Before news broke about the gun incident and El Moussas’ breakup, it had quite literally been business as usual for the popular pair.
The show must go on, right?
May was a long time ago, and they’ve been working together as usual ever since, revealing in a statement that they’re dating other people:
“We have both dated other people following the separation, but neither of us is ready to announce anything in terms of another relationship.”
Once news broke of their split and the gun incident earlier this week, the couple, who married in May 2009 and have two kids, said in a statement:
“We had an unfortunate misunderstanding about six months ago and the police were called to our house in an abundance of caution.”
“There was no violence and no charges were filed. Together, we have decided to separate while we reevaluate the future of our marriage.”
As for why Tarek and Christina split up … we don’t know.
They did not elaborate on what events led up to the so-called misunderstanding, nor did they get into the bigger marital issues at hand.
“We are committed to our kids,” they said of daughter Taylor, 6, and son Brayden, 1, “and being the best parents we can be.”
“We will continue to work through this process civilly and cooperatively, and plan to continue our professional life together.”
Sources close to them suggest they were just not a good fit.
A source tells People that tension has been building up ever since the couple’s program struck it big (Flip or Flip is now airing Season 7).
Tarek isn’t a big fan of the spotlight, while Christina … is.
“In a lot of ways they just seemed wildly incompatible,” the source says of Tarek and Christina. “She has champagne tastes.”
“He’s more of a beer-from-a-can kind of guy.”
The insider went on to say this was “okay for a while when all they could afford was canned beer,” but things have changed. Considerably.
