To be fair, some of the proceeds go to charity.
Though Kensington Palace has not confirmed it, the Duchess of Cambridge is said to be hosting a “lavish gala” in aid of one of her charities, East Anglia Children’s Hospice.
The event is to take place on June 22nd at Houghton Hall, the home of the Marquess and Marchioness of Cholmondeley, just a short drive from Catherine and William’s Norfolk home, Anmer Hall.
Tickets are available, but they aren’t cheap.
Earlier this month, the Daily Mail reported that tickets started at over $ 8000. Those willing to pay $ 14,000 will be invited to stay at the hall overnight.
Guests will be treated to a champagne reception, a lecture by writer Anthony Horowitz, live jazz, a magician, and food prepared by top chefs, including Tom Kerridge.
The gala will call for an evening gown (tiaras are only worn for state occasions), perhaps from one of Catherine’s favorite designers – Alexander McQueen, Temperley London, Jenny Packham or Erdem. Though it wouldn’t surprise us to see her repeat a dress she’s worn in the past.
We’ll hopefully get to see some gorgeous jewelry either on loan from the Queen or from Catherine’s growing personal collection, like the emerald and diamond earrings at the St. Andrews Dinner in New York City.
Catherine has been patron of EACH since 2012. The charity offers care and support to terminally-ill children and their families in the United Kingdom.
