Lauren Graham: Edward Herrmann Would Have Loved Gilmore Girls Revival

Lauren Graham knows how excited fans are for the return to Gilmore Girls this November 25th.

The residents of Stars Hallow have reunited for Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, which features four 90-minute episodes spanning each of the four seasons.

Graham, 49, spoke about returning to the set, and how the absence of co-star Edward Herrmann, who died of brain cancer at 71 in 2014, will affect the show.

Hermann played Graham’s on-screen father, Richard Gilmore.

“He would have loved this [new series],” Graham told People Magazine, assuring fans that the fact that he’s not there will not be overlooked.

“His death was just a loss for us personally. It’s given the show a new complexity and depth. It’s a nice tribute to him.”

Graham’s on-screen daughter, Alexis Bledel echoed her sentiment.

“He was wonderful to work with,” she said. “Very generous and such a great presence to have on-set always.”

Fans have a lot to look forward to, Graham and Bledel revealed.

“The characters are older now and really are just supporting each other, which I think is a natural progression for a mother and daughter,” Graham said without giving too much away.

“Their dynamic is so unique,” Bledel added. There’s nothing else like it.”

Last month, Graham couldn’t contain her excitement over the A Year In the Life.  She admitted that starring on Gilmore Girls was possibly the highlight of her career.

“I relished it, and I’m ruined for life because there’s no more perfect fit I feel like for me than that writing and that show,” she told People last month.

“I’m so glad I got to do it again. I just can’t even explain it. It was everything I wanted it to be and more.”

If you need a refresher, or are looking to watch Gilmore Girls for the first time, the entire series is available on Netflix.
