Lex McAllister: Bachelor Contestant Cause of Death Revealed
She passed away on February 16th after what authorities suspected was an overdose.
On May 10th, E! News obtained a copy of the coroner’s report, which states that the former Bachelor contestant’s death was “due to acute intoxication by the combined effects of amlodipine and acetaminophen in the manner of suicide.”
McAllister, 31, was rushed to a Columbus, Ohio hospital in February after police received a 911 call about a possible prescription medication overdose.
Though the reality star was believed to be in “stable condition,” things took a turn for the worse and she was taken off life support.
A source close to McAllister told TMZ that she suffered from bipolar disorder and depression.
McAllister competed for Jake Pavelka’s rose on the series’ 14th season back in 2010. She was eliminated the first week, and enjoyed a career in financial planning and wealth management, which she shared via her Instagram account.
Pavelka, as well as McAllister’s fellow contestants, sent their condolences after her passing.
“Im so sad to hear about Alexa. Such a beautiful girl. My heart breaks for her family,” Pavelka tweeted.
“Covering them in prayer during this rough time.”
Tenley Molzahn also issued a statement, telling E! News that she was ‘honestly in shock that another beautiful soul would take their life.”
“She was only on our first episode but she seemed like such a vibrant soul. This is just shocking news no matter how well you know someone.”
That season’s winner, Vienna Girardi, also spoke up about the loss.
“I would like to express my sincere condolences,” she stated.
“My heart goes out to Lex’s family during this difficult time. I remember her being such a positive young lady who could light up any room.”
McAllister is one of three former contestants who have committed suicide.
In 2013, fellow contestant Gia Allemand hanged herself, and in 2010, season five Bachelorette contestant Julien Hug shot himself.

Lex McAllister Suicide: Caused By The Bachelor Itself?!
Is The Bachelor franchise to blame for Lex McAllister’s death?! That outrageous claim is shamelessly made by the new issue of Life & Style.
News that former contestant Lex McAllister died of suicide on February 16 rocked Bachelor Nation, whose alumni shared their condolences.
If you don’t really remember Lex, she appeared, relatively briefly, on Jake Pavelka‘s season of The Bachelor, which was a long time ago.
The headline “Another Bachelor Suicide: Contestants Blame The Show For Third Death” would be absurd anyway, but in this case?
Lex reportedly bragged that she only joined the show to get some publicity for her PR Company and was happy to get the boot ASAP.
Claiming she got “dumped” by Pavelka and stretching that into an expose on how being on a reality show drove her to take her life?
Pretty ballsy and over the top to print, isn’t it?
Not according to Jesse Csincsak, who WON The Bachelorette Season 4 (starring DeAnna Pappas) and later became friends with Lex.
“It is not about finding love, it is about embarrassing the hell out of each and every contestant for ratings and money,” Jesse says.
“You [are known as] ‘the slut,’ ‘the drunk,’ ‘the cheater,’ ‘the bully,’ ‘the loser,’ and you have to live with that for life. That causes depression.”
“For anyone who has been on the show, the process causes emotional issues. Lex was no different,” Csincsak laments to the tabloid.
“Even though years have gone by, it still negatively affected her life. It ruins people’s lives. I’m afraid this won’t be the last suicide.”
By contrast, Lex’s brother Josh does not support Jesse’s theory, stating that his family does not fault The Bachelor for the tragedy.

Lex McAllister, Former Bachelor Contestant, Dead of Apparent Suicide
Lex McAllister, a contestant on season 14 of The Bachelor – has been found dead.
According to TMZ, authorities believe that McAllister took her own life by overdosing on prescription medications.
Lex’s family says she suffered from bipolar disorder and depression throughout her life.
Early reports indicate that a 911 call was received on Saturday afternoon after McAllister was found unconscious in her home.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where her condition quickly stabilized.
Sadly, McAllister reportedly took an unexpected turn for the worse on Sunday, when her organs began to shut down.
On Monday, her family made the difficult decision to remove her from life support, and she passed away on Tuesday afternoon.
McAllister was featured on one of the show’s most popular seasons, in which Jake Pavelka served in the title role.
Shockingly, she is not the first season 14 cast member to take her own life, as fellow contestant Gia Allemand committed suicide in 2013.
Following Allemand’s death, Pavelka spoke openly of his shock and grief.
There’s no word on whether or not he’s been informed of McAllister’s passing.
A successful career woman, McAllister’s Twitter page describes her as a “business development expert, franchise consultant and entrepreneur.”
Her family has requested privacy during this difficult time.
