Verne Troyer Death Ruled Suicide by Alcohol Consumption
Verne Troyer committed suicide by drinking too much alcohol.
So states the official coroner’s report, which has come out about six months after the diminutive actor died at the age of 49.
On Wednesday morning, the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office closed its case on Troyer.
It did so by stating that the man best known for playing Mini-Me in the Austin Powers franchise died of “suicide” and the cause listed was “sequelae of alcohol intoxication.”
You don’t see that term or that cause of death listed very often.
(Sequelae translates to “a condition that is the consequence of a previous disease or injury.”)
When the 49-year-old was taken from his North Hollywood home to the hospital this spring, reports at the time indicated that he had three times the legal level of alcohol in his system.
The possiiblity that Troyer essentially drank himself to death on purpose was floated soon afterward by numerous sources and outlets.
But it had not been confirmed until now.
A year before he passed away, Troyer was also hospitalized for alcohol poisoning.
And, again, chatter that he was trying to kill himself at the time surfaced across the Internet.
Troyer even responded to this rumor in an Instagram post from April of 2017.
“I’ve been hearing from some concerned fans, so I’d like to address a very personal situation,” he wrote back then, adding:
“As you know, I’ve battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it’s not always been an easy fight, I’m willing to continue my fight day by day.
Troyer added that he planned to check himself into a treatment center to “get the help that I need.”
Concluded the actor in this April 2016 message:
“I want to thank everyone that’s reached out with their messages of support, it truly means the world to me. With your support, I got this.”
Tragically, just barely over a year later, he was dead.
“Verne was the consummate professional and a beacon of positivity for those of us who had the honor of working with him,” Austin Power star Mike Myers said in a statement after his friend died.
He added this past April:
“It is a sad day, but I hope he is in a better place. He will be greatly missed.”
After this tragic event, Troyer’s family also released that referred to the small star as “an extremely caring individual” who “wanted to make everyone smile, be happy, and laugh.”
They said that for “anybody in need, he would help to any extent possible.”
Troyer was admitted to a Los Angeles hospital on April 3 with a blood alcohol content of more than three times the legal limit, according to this new official report.
The actor dialed 911 himself, repeatedly saying on the call and when he arrived to the emergency room that he wanted to die.
“Based on the history and circumstances as currently known, the manner of death is suicide,” Deputy Medical Examiner Martina Kennedy wrote in the coroner’s report this week.

Jill Janus, Singer of Rock Band Huntress, Commits Suicide
Jill Janus, the frontwoman for popular heavy metal band Huntress, was found dead on Tuesday, others in this group have confirmed.
She was 43 years old.
While details are still coming in regarding her passing, this is what band members wrote on Facebook last night as tragic confirmation of the news:
“It is with crushed hearts that we announce that Jill Janus – frontwoman for the California heavy metal band Huntress – passed away on Tuesday, August. 14.
“A long-time sufferer of mental illness, she took her own life outside of Portland, Oregon.”
Continued this post:
“Janus spoke publicly about these challenges in hopes of guiding others to address and overcome their mental illness.”
Huntress were formed in 2009 and released its first album, Spell Eater, in 2012.
The band went on to release a further a pair of orther records as well, while supporting and opening at times for rock bands Motörhead and Lamb of God.
Best known for the singing gig described above with Huntress, Janus also sang for a handful of female metal cover bands over the years, including The Starbreakers and Chelsea Girls.
“Beyond her accomplishments in the music world and her advocacy for mental health issues, she was a beautiful person passionate about her family, animal rescue and the world of natural medicine,” the Facebook message reads, concluding
“She will be missed more than she could have ever known.”
It is unclear at the moment just how Janus took her own life.
The artist was diagnosed with bipolar disease aged 20, telling Revolver magazine in 2015 that she struggled in high school after starting to show signs of this illness at 13 years old.
In response to this awful news, partner and Huntress member Blake Meahl paid tribute to Janus as follows yesterday:
“[We] spent 9 years together creating a home, having a family and building our passion project Huntress.
“The devastation of knowing I will never see her again is the most gutting emotion I have ever experienced. I hope you have found the peace that you couldn’t find on this planet.”
Added Lizzy Hale of Halestorm:
“I’d like to take a moment to state again how important it is to talk about mental health, and remind all of you out there battling demons that you are not alone.
I have to navigate my own dark labyrinth and I turn to music and writing for my lifeline. I want to encourage you to keep searching for Your lifeline, something that makes You happy.
To Jill, My sister of scream, I hope wherever you are you have found the peace that you couldn’t here.
My deepest sympathy’s go out to Jill’s Family and her band Huntress during this time.

L.B. Bonner: What May Have Led the Reality Star to Commit Suicide?
We may have some new information on what drove L.B. Bonner to commit suicide last week.
As previously reported, the former 600-lb Life cast member took his own life via gunshot wound outside of his home in Lexington, South Carolina.
According to the official autopsy report, Bonner was discovered dead in a ditch.
What could have driven the 30-year old to make such a drastic decision?
That’s the most frustrating aspect of suicide in many ways: we’ll never know the answer.
But Bonner had to have his led amputated after getting into a severe car accident in 2013 and a friend tells Radar Online that the experience left Bonner not just physically scarred…
… but mentally scarred as well.
Following this incident, Bonner turned to food and alcohol, eventually climbing to 650 pounds before joining the cast of this TLC series and shedding the weight via diet, exercise and lap band surgery.
Still, the aforementioned friend, who is also an amputee, explains why losing one’s limb can leave a dangerous and lasting impression.
“I knew him when I lived in South Carolina,” this person tells Radar, explaining;
“He was a bouncer at night clubs we used to go to. Also, both of us are amputees.
“Both of us are also or were also members of the support group where you can speak to other issues that you’re going through.”
This friend says she lost touch with Bonner in recent years, but still feels as if she knew him well enough to speak on this tragedy.
“A lot of amputees think that they can’t do everything they used to do or get depressed or feel like someone would never want them. I’ve been lucky.
“I’ve always had the mentality that if someone tells me I can’t do something then I’m going to do it anyway with or without two legs.
“I think he tried to have that mentality, but with everything else he was dealing with…”
In March, Bonner started a GoFundMe page with a goal of earning $ 7,500 to pay for a new leg.
It does seem clear that the ex-reality star was affected tremendously by his amputation.
“My insurance won’t cover a new leg and I’ve gotten to the point where just walking is becoming very painful, let alone going to the gym and working out hard like I was before,” Bonner said this spring.
Still, he worked to lose over 300 pounds a few years ago and was considered a My 600-lb Life success story. He was also a fan favorite.
Viewers have taken his suicide very hard.
In the wake of Bonner’s passing, TLC issued the following statement:
On the show, viewers saw LB struggle with obesity following a tragic accident that claimed his right leg.
Even though he once weighed 650 pounds, LB’s hard work and dedication helped get him in the 200-pound range.
His spirit and determination as displayed through his story, quickly made LB a fan-favorite, and family & friends have taken to LB’s Facebook page to commemorate his life.
TLC was deeply saddened to hear of LB’s passing and is honored to have shared his honest and courageous story on My 600-lb Life.
May he rest in peace.

L.B. Bonner Dead of Apparent Suicide; My 600-LB Life Star was 31
James “L.B.” Bonner, a reality star who appeared on the Lifetime series My 600-LB Life, was found dead on Thursday morning.
He was 31 years old.
According to Radar Online, police in Lexington, South Carolina responded to a call from Bonner’s home at 7:45am yesterday…
… but that’s all that has been reported to date regarding what happened with Bonner.
Two of the former reality star’s friends, however, Stephanie Garbinsky and Shaylee Gantt, have confirmed that L.B. is no longer with us.
“He passed away,” one of them told Radar, adding that many people close to Bonner are saying on Facebook that he “took his own life.”
We would like to stress, however, that we cannot confirm this at the moment.
Added another acquaintance:
“Haven’t heard exactly what happened, but I keep seeing people say something about depression is real.
And I know his dad has been sick recently also. My husband has known him since he was a little boy.
“This is so sad and so unexpected. I thought he was doing really well with his new job and girlfriend. Not to mention his weight loss and upcoming surgery.”
Bonner lost his leg in a car accident in 2013, eventually turning to to food and alcohol for comfort and at one point reaching 650 pounds.
But through diet and exercise and lap band surgery, he dropped down to close to 200 pounds of late and was also firmly on the wagon.
Loved ones have said Bonner was sober at the time he died.
L.B. was also known for starting each day by sharing an inspirational or motivational quote on Facebook.
This is what he wrote on July 31:
Contrast that message with the one he posted on this same account the morning of his death.
We’ve shared it below.
Does this confirm reports of suicide? No.
But it sheds some light on what Bonner may have been thinking or going through on Thursday:
UPDATE: Someone on Facebook has now posted the following:
Hi, I’m LB’s sister Angela. It is true, LB has taken his life.
We are all shocked at the moment and trying to figure this out. LB was adored by many people and I would like to thank all of you for supporting him through this journey.
Elsewhere today, LB’s friend and fellow My 600-Lb Life participant Doug Armstrong just changed his Facebook profile picture to one of the two men together earlier this year.
This could also be taken as a strong sign that Bonner is dead.
How sad and awful.
We send our condolences to Bonner’s friends, family members and loved ones.
May he rest in peace.
If you or someone you know is in an emotional distress or suicidal, please call the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).

Rich The Kid Posts Cryptic Instagram Message, Sparks Suicide Concerns
Music fans around the country are suddenly very worried about Rich The Kid.
Early Tuesday morning, the popular rapper deleted all of his Instagram messages and photos, save for one.
This would have been a troubling and confusing enough move on its own, even before followers clicked on his account and spotted the single remaining meme.
It reads:
R.i.P. Rich the Kid 1992-2018.
Ummm… what? Why? Could this have been a cry for help? Or, even worse, a suicide note?
Supporters were left even more concerned upon reading the caption alongside this image, as Rich The Kid wrote simply:
Thank u all my fans & family for everything.
“HE WAS MY FAVORITE ARTIST,” wrote _.papirhch_21, thinking Rich The Kid was now dead.
And this person wasn’t the only follower whose mind went straight to death upon seeing that Rich The Kid went ahead and wished himself eternal peace.
Just three days before his cryptic post, a video made by the rapper, where he blasted his label, 300 Entertainment, went viral.
It gave fans a reason to think he was fed up with at least one aspect of his life.
“Yo, f-ck 300 ENT, ya’ll suck,” he began, prior to going off on a tangent about wanting out of his deal with the label.
“Listen, you gotta let me out of this contract. I don’t want to be with ya’ll no f-cking more. I told ya’ll … giving this money back. I don’t want to be with ya’ll label no more.
“Ya’ll suck, ya’ll is trash. Listen, young, independent artists, do not sign with 300 ENT.
“They’re the worst, worst label, ever… Lame ass sh-t.”
At the end of the day, however, Rich The Kid is alive.
We’re pretty darn sure about that, at least.
Sources have said, as many fans have speculated, that he is simply altering his image. Perhaps even changing his name.
The artist is leaving his music persona behind and that’s what he is mourning in this mysterious Instagram meme.
Tweeted someone in the jnow:
JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH RICH HE’S OK HES JUST RETIRING THE NAME RICH THE KID HIS MANAGER ALSO CONFIRMED #RichTheKid
So it sounds like everyone can take a deep breath.
Much like IHOP accomplished when it freaked everyone out about a change to burgers, Rich The Kid has accomplished his goal here:
He has grabbed many headlines and become a viral sensation, all while remaining alive and seemingly well.
Talk about a win-win situation!

Brian Christopher, Former WWE Superstar, Dead of Suicide
Brian Christopher Lawler, the son of WWE legend Jerry Lawler and a former WWE Superstar himself, passed away on Sunday, hours after being placed on life support.
He was 46 years old.
According to TMZ and other outlets, Christopher was surrounded by friends, family members and loved ones at the time of his death, which took place after he tried to kill himself on Saturday night.
He did so via an attempted hanging in jail.
Prison guards discovered Lawler in his cell outside Memphis.
He was taken to a hospital shortly afterward, where he remained in critical condition until late Sunday morning.
Lawler, who wrestled in the WWE under the name Grandmaster Sexay, was arrested earlier this month for DUI after leading cops on a wild and dangerous chase.
Police reported that Brian smelled of alcohol and had an open 12-ounce can of beer in his center console; they arrested him on the spot.
Bail had been set at $ 40,000.
As Grandmaster Sexay, Christopher teamed with Scotty 2 Hotty to form the tag team Too Cool and even won the tag team title at one point in his career.
Brian’s father, Jerry Lawler, is one of the most well-known wrestling personalities on the planet.
He is a WWE Hall of Famer and works for the company as an announcer.
Said the company in an announcement shortly after Brian died:
WWE is saddened to learn that Brian Christopher Lawler, who is best known in WWE as Too Cool’s Grandmaster Sexay, has passed away.
Lawler, who is the son of WWE Hall of Famer Jerry “The King” Lawler, competed during the height of the Attitude Era.
WWE extends its condolences to Lawler’s family, friends and fans.
Brian also wrestled for a number of different independent promotions, most notably the United States Wrestling Association in Memphis, Tennessee.
His father and his family are legends in that city.
The WWE released Lawler in 2001.
However, he made occasional appearances on WWE television in subsequent years.
In the buildup to Jerry Lawler’s match against Michael Cole at WrestleMania XXVII in 2011, Bruan returned to confront his father at the announcers’ table.
Brian also reunited with Rikishi and Scotty 2 Hotty for an old-school edition of Raw on Januart 6, 2014 and defeated 3MB. The photo above was taken after this match.
He then tagged with Scotty 2 Hotty in a losing effort against The Ascension at NXT Arrival on February 27, 2014.
Earlier on Sunday, WWE also confirmed that former star Nikolai Volkoff had also passed away. He was 70 years old.
Said former WWE announcer and legenary personality Jim Ross this evening:
“So saddened today re: the deaths of @WWE HOFER Nikolai Volkoff, #BrickhouseBrown, once targeted to replace #JYD, and #BrianChristopher, the talented son of the great, @JerryLawler#RIPGentlemen #CondolencesToAll.”
Added ex-wrestler Taz:
“Two men from different generations of wrestling industry both extremely successful careers have left us unfortunately.
“I knew Brian during my WWE years & shared lots of laughs with him. My deepest sympathies to the families & friends of #BrianChristopher & #NikolaiVolkoff – RIP.”
May they both rest in peace.
