Jimmy Bennett Breaks Silence on Asia Argento Rape Accusation
Jimmy Bennett has spoken out for the first time since his allegations of sexual assault against Asia Argento went public.
In a case that has received national attention, and about which the reporting has gone through a number of twists and turns, the 22-year old actor says Argento raped him back when he was 17 years old.
She was 37 years old at the time.
Bennett has known Argento since the two worked on a 2004 film together.
According to documents obtained by The New York Times, he claims that she plied him with alcohol and forced herself on him inside a hotel room about five years ago.
He made this allegations several months ago because Argento was in the news for making her own rape allegations against Harvey Weinstein.
In response to the accusation, Argento paid Bennett a sum of $ 380,000.
However, she has said she was prompted to do so by then-boyfriend Anthony Bourdain in order to 1. Help Bennett financially and 2. Make the issue go away.
Argento has strongly denied having any sexual contact with Bennett, as you can see in her statement below:
HOWEVER, a photo has since surfaced that appears to show Argento and Bennett in bed.
Moreover, there also appears to be a text message chain (down below) in which Argento admits to a friend that she slept with Bennett, while saying the actor initiated this interaction and has basically been obsessed with her ever since.
So that’s where we stand.
That’s the background to Bennett’s first statement on the confusing, disturbing scandal.
We’re just going to publish the entire statement here and allow our readers to make up their own minds about what may or may not have transpired between Bennett and Argento…
Many brave women and men have spoken out about their own experiences during the #MeToo movement, and I appreciate the bravery that it took for each and every one of them to take such a stand.
I did not initially speak out about my story because I chose to handle it in private with the person who wronged me.
My trauma resurfaced as she came out as a victim herself. I have not made a public statement in the past days and hours because I was ashamed and afraid to be part of the public narrative.
I was underage when the event took place, and I tried to seek justice in a way that made sense to me at the time because I was not ready to deal with the ramifications of my story becoming public.
At the time I believed there was still a stigma to being in the situation as a male in our society.
I didn’t think that people would understand the event that took place from the eyes of a teenage boy.
I have had to overcome many adversities in my life, and this is another that I will deal with, in time. I would like to move past this event in my life, and today I choose to move forward, no longer in silence.
This is a photo of Bennett and Argento:
Argento became a prominent leader of the #MeToo movement following her accusations against Weinstein.
(Dozens of other women have made similar accusations of assault against the producers in the days, weeks and months since.)
She was also in the news this summer after Bourdin tragically committed suicide.
Argento denied Bennett’s rape allegations in a statement to New York Magazine on Tuesday, August 21, saying:
“I am deeply shocked and hurt by having read news that is absolutely false. I have never had any sexual relationship with Bennett.”
In one of the texts below, though, Argento appears to write:
“I had sex with him it felt weird. I didn’t know he was a minor until the shakedown letter.”

Asia Argento Text Messages: The 17-Year-Old Came On to ME!
One of Harvey Weinstein"s many, many accusers who has come forward was Asia Argento.
Now, Asia herself is accused of sexual battery of a minor and of having paid hush money to the now-22-year-old former child actor to cover up an alleged sexual encounter from when he was 17 … and she was 37.
In public, she has denied that this took place. But screenshots of some private text messages tell another story.
TMZ got their hands on some text messages that appear to show Asia confiding in a friend about the situation and what the public doesn"t know. You can see mock-ups of these text messages below.
Asia has apparently been telling confidants that Jimmy Bennett was the sexual aggressor, and that he continued to send her unsolicited nudes up until two weeks before sending her a shakedown letter.
As you are about to see, Asia seems to consider herself a victim.
She also says that the late, great Anthony Bourdain, whom she had been dating before his passing, encouraged her to keep this story under wraps.
Take a look:
1. Asia says that he came onto her
2. She says that she didn’t know that he was a minor
3. Does she have evidence of his years of unsolicited nudes?
4. So, why didn’t she report the shakedown letter?
5. She does have some reciepts, though
6. She has other evidence from that time

Asia Argento Says Anthony Bourdain Paid Off Her Rape Accuser
Asia Argento has broken her silence when it comes to this week’s very troubling accusation that she sexually assaulted an actor named Jimmy Bennett.
First, she strongly denies this allegation.
Second, she says that Anthony Bourdain actually played a major role in the disturbing and confusing story.
On Monday morning, The New York Times published a lengthy article in which it outlined how Argento paid Bennett $ 380,000 last year, ostensibly to settle the claim of rape he made against her out of court.
Based on legal documents, the newspaper described Bennett’s accusation in painstaking detail:
On May 9, 2013, when Argento was 37 years old and Bennett (an actor who had starred as her son in a 2004 film) was 17 years old, the two met at a Ritz-Carlton hotel in Marina del Rey, California.
Inside this room, Bennett alleges, Argento plied him with alcohol… performed oral sex on him … and then had sexual intercourse with him.
The allegation would be troubling under any circumstance, but Argento was one of the first women to accuse movie producer Harvey Weinstein of rape.
Right around the time she was going public with her grisly interactions with Weinstein, Argento was paying off Bennett for his silence.
This situation is not being denied by Argento.
But in her first comments since the assault charges came to light, she the Italian actress has vehemently proclaimed her innocence — and attempted to explain just why she gave Bennett all that money.
“I strongly deny and oppose the contents of the New York Times article…as circulated also in national and international news,” a statement from her agent said.
“I am deeply shocked and hurt by having read news that is absolutely false.
“I have never had any sexual relationship with Bennett.”
Argento goes on to detail the circumstances surrounding her relationship with Bennett; both of their lives at the time; and the role Bourdain played in this scandalous incident:
I was linked to him during several years by friendship only, which ended when, subsequent to my exposure in the Weinstein case, Bennett – who was then undergoing severe economic problems and who had previously taken legal actions against his own family requesting millions in damages – unexpectedly made an exorbitant request of money from me.
Bennett knew my boyfriend, Anthony Bourdain, was of great perceived wealth and had his own reputation as a beloved public figure to protect.
Argento was dating Bourdain when the famous chef and author committed suicide several weeks ago.
She goes on to say that Bourdain was the one who pushed to make this $ 380,000 payment in order to keep the accusation out of the news, writing:
Antony [sic] insisted the matter be handled privately and this was also what Bennett wanted.
Anthony was afraid of the possible negativity that such person, whom he considered dangerous, could have brought upon us. We decided to deal compassionately with Bennett’s demand for help and give it to him.
Anthony personally undertook to help Bennett economically, upon the condition that we would no longer suffer any further intrusions into our life.
Here is how Argento concludes her statement:
This is, therefore, the umpteeth development of a sequence of events that brings me great sadness and that constitutes a long-standing persecution.
I have therefore no other choice but to oppose such false allegation and will assume in the short term and all necessary initiatives for my protection before all competent venues.
We can’t say we saw this twist coming, that Argento would admit to the payout, deny the assault and claim Bourdain was actually the person who insisted on shoving the allegation under the carpet.
Bourdain, of course, is sadly not around to state his side of this story.
Considering the sensitive nature of this accusation, we’re not about to take sides ourselves here.
We’ll just report the facts and the statements as we know them and as we’ve read them and we’ll let our readers make up their own minds.
Do you believe what Argento is saying here?

Rose McGowan: Don"t Blame Asia Argento For Anthony Bourdain"s Death!
Last week, the food world lost a true icon when Anthony Bourdain was found dead of an apparent suicide in a hotel room in France.
He was 61 years old.
Days later, details about the events surrounding Bourdain’s death are slowly beginning to trickle in, but the question of what could have driven one of the most widely-envied men on the planet to take his own life remains unanswered.
Fans and media outlets were quick to point out some unusual social media activity from Bourdain’s longtime girlfriend, Asia Argento, in the hours before the news of his passing became public knowledge.
An image in which the actress is seen wearing a shirt that reads “F-ck Off,” coupled with photos of Argento apparently vacationing with a male friend in France prompted a widespread theory that Bourdain was distraught over relationship problems.
In the final months of his life, Bourdain was an outspoken advocate of the #MeToo movement, and his activism brought him close to some of the most high-profile victims of sexual harassment in Hollywood, including the actress Rose McGowan.
Bourdain and McGowan quickly became close friends, and today, she published an open letter in which she addresses both his death and the rumors about his alleged relationship troubles.
“Sitting across from me is the remarkable human and brave survivor, Asia Argento, who has been through more than most could stand, and yet stand she does,” the letter reads.
“She stood up to her monster rapist and now she has to stand up to yet another monster, suicide. The suicide of her beloved lover and ally, Anthony Bourdain.”
McGowan goes on to claim that Bourdain and Argento were in an open relationship, and she implies he would not have been upset by the sight of Argento with another man:
“Anthony and Asia had a free relationship, they loved without borders of traditional relationships, and they established the parameters of their relationship early on,” McGowan states.
“Asia is a free bird, and so was Anthony. Was. Such a terrible word to write,” she adds.
“I’ve heard from many that the past two years they were together were some of his happiest and that should give us all solace.”
She later states:
“It is in no way fair or acceptable to blame her or anyone else, not even Anthony.”
McGowan says she’s angry about her friend’s death, but she also pleads for sympathy from those who feel that he took his own life out of selfishness or a lack of concern for his loved ones.
Shortly after learning of Bourdain’s death, Argento addressed the matter on Instagram, writing:
“His brilliant, fearless spirit touched and inspired so many, and his generosity knew no bounds. He was my love, my rock, my protector. I am beyond devastated. My thoughts are with his family. I would ask that you respect their privacy and mine.”
We’ll have further details on this developing story as more information becomes available.
