Jimmy Bennett Breaks Silence on Asia Argento Rape Accusation

Jimmy Bennett has spoken out for the first time since his allegations of sexual assault against Asia Argento went public.

In a case that has received national attention, and about which the reporting has gone through a number of twists and turns, the 22-year old actor says Argento raped him back when he was 17 years old.

She was 37 years old at the time.

Bennett has known Argento since the two worked on a 2004 film together.

According to documents obtained by The New York Times, he claims that she plied him with alcohol and forced herself on him inside a hotel room about five years ago.

He made this allegations several months ago because Argento was in the news for making her own rape allegations against Harvey Weinstein.

In response to the accusation, Argento paid Bennett a sum of $ 380,000.

However, she has said she was prompted to do so by then-boyfriend Anthony Bourdain in order to 1. Help Bennett financially and 2. Make the issue go away.

Argento has strongly denied having any sexual contact with Bennett, as you can see in her statement below:

HOWEVER, a photo has since surfaced that appears to show Argento and Bennett in bed.

Moreover, there also appears to be a text message chain (down below) in which Argento admits to a friend that she slept with Bennett, while saying the actor initiated this interaction and has basically been obsessed with her ever since.

So that’s where we stand.

That’s the background to Bennett’s first statement on the confusing, disturbing scandal.

We’re just going to publish the entire statement here and allow our readers to make up their own minds about what may or may not have transpired between Bennett and Argento…

Many brave women and men have spoken out about their own experiences during the #MeToo movement, and I appreciate the bravery that it took for each and every one of them to take such a stand.

I did not initially speak out about my story because I chose to handle it in private with the person who wronged me.

My trauma resurfaced as she came out as a victim herself. I have not made a public statement in the past days and hours because I was ashamed and afraid to be part of the public narrative.

I was underage when the event took place, and I tried to seek justice in a way that made sense to me at the time because I was not ready to deal with the ramifications of my story becoming public.

At the time I believed there was still a stigma to being in the situation as a male in our society.

I didn’t think that people would understand the event that took place from the eyes of a teenage boy.

I have had to overcome many adversities in my life, and this is another that I will deal with, in time. I would like to move past this event in my life, and today I choose to move forward, no longer in silence.

This is a photo of Bennett and Argento:

Argento became a prominent leader of the #MeToo movement following her accusations against Weinstein.

(Dozens of other women have made similar accusations of assault against the producers in the days, weeks and months since.)

She was also in the news this summer after Bourdin tragically committed suicide.

Argento denied Bennett’s rape allegations in a statement to New York Magazine on Tuesday, August 21, saying:

“I am deeply shocked and hurt by having read news that is absolutely false. I have never had any sexual relationship with Bennett.”

In one of the texts below, though, Argento appears to write:

“I had sex with him it felt weird. I didn’t know he was a minor until the shakedown letter.”

Stormy Daniels Feuds with Roseanne Barr Over Anal Sex Accusation

If the headline above does not perfectly sum up the world in which we live at the moment, we don’t know what else would.

2018, huh, people?

Earlier this week, adult film actress and former Donald Trump sex partner Stormy Daniels got into a heated Twitter debate with revived sitcom star Roseanne Barr.

The topic at hand was the act of anal intercourse.

The nauseating back-and-forth started when Daniels Tweeted the following:

Have you seen my tits? (Of course, you have) I don’t jog anywhere. So I’ll just sit here, sipping my coffee and talking shit. Xoxo.

Aside from detailing her affair with President Trump, Daniels has become known for this sort of forthright talk on social media.

She certainly isn’t ashamed of her profession.

sd tweet

From here, am Internet user named Sassy Southern Diva (who has since deleted her tweet) replied as follows:

“You’re disgusting and do not represent classy women AT ALL. Your fifteen minutes of fame will be up soon and we will all be thrilled when that day comes!”

Sassy Southern Diva also tagged in Roseanne Barr in this message, because… why not, we guess?

Roseanne is having a moment.

For whatever reason, actress Patricia Arquette then got involved, chiming in with this reply:

Following this logic -If she doesn’t represent “classy women” I guess that means the President represents classless men? Hmm. Interesting. ..

This is where Barr leaped into the very random fray, Tweeting as only she can:

she’s known for anal porn scenes.

barr

But this is incorrect.

Farrah Abraham is known for anal sex scenes.

Daniels is just known for having vaginal sex, a point she made in response to Roseanne.

I don’t even do anal movies, you ignorant twat,” shot back Stormy. That’s like saying you are known for your beautiful rendition of The Star Spangled Banner.

This, of course, is a reference to Roseanne’s infamously disrespectful national anthem prior to a San Diego Padres game in 1990.

The comedian grabbed her crotch and spat on the field and was booed at the time by those in attendance.

See for yourself:

Fast forward 25 years and Roseanne is a passionate Donald Trump supporter while Daniels was a one-time semi-passionate Donald Trump mistress.

And now these two are feuding.

Over anal sex accusations.

Like we said above: 2018, huh?!?

Russell Simmons Steps Down After Second Sexual Assault Accusation

Remember the controversy and boycott of Russell Simmons over the Harriet Tubman “sex tape” comedy skit? That is nothing beside the accusations of sexual assault that Simmons now faces.

His second accuser, screenwriter Jenny Lumet, has written in extensive detail about what she says that Simmons did to her. It sounds like sexual assault. It also sounds like kidnapping.

Russell Simmons’ response has been to step down from his businesses.

Russell Simmons is a music mogul.

When, on November 19th, model Keri Claussen Khalighi accused him of sexual assault and harassment when she was only 17 years old.

At the time of the accusation, Russell Simmons denied it, saying that such behavior was something that he wholeheartedly opposed.

That denial clearly loomed large in the mind of Jenny Lumet.

Writing in The Hollywood Reporter, Jenny Lumet describes a sexual assault by Russell Simmons after they had known each other for years.

In the form of an open letter directed at Simmons, she describes how the two of them met in 1987 and remained in the same social circles for years.

“You pursued me, lightly, on and off, over a course of years, saying you had a thing for a “little yellow girl” (me). I rebuffed. It wasn’t deep, as far as I knew. It was never a big deal. You had, I assumed, many women in your orbit.”

The incident in question, she says, happened “circa 1991,” when she was around 24. She remembers a lot of very specific details about how she was dressed, why she was at the restaurant where she ate, and what the weather was like.

(Traumatic memories can often include a lot of sensory details, no matter how badly the person wants to forget)

“You had a car and a driver that evening. Sometime later, you offered me a ride to my home. I said, ‘Sure.’ During the making of the RUN DMC movie, I had been in vans with you and other crew members. I don’t recall having accepted a ride home alone with you before that night.”

And, in case it’s stating the obvious, she was only accepting a ride home. Nothing more.

“At no time that night did I say: ‘Russell, I will go home with you,’ or ‘Come home with me,’ or ‘I will have sex with you’ or ‘I have the desire to have sex with you."”

And … this is when the story starts to get scary.

“I got into the car with you. The driver began to drive. I assumed you knew where I lived, because you had sent me 250 balloons, but I gave the driver my address on 19th Street and 2nd Avenue.”

She refers to a gift, which she found funny at the time, of many balloons.

“You said to the driver: ‘No.’ I didn’t understand, so I said: ‘Russell?’ I said, again, to the driver: ’19th Street.’ Again you said to the driver: ‘No."”

That is absolutely chilling.

“Then the car doors locked. It was loud. The noise made me jump.”

Any noise can evoke that response when your fear response kicks in.

“I didn’t recognize you at that moment. It was disorienting. It was disorienting. I say it twice now because you said ‘No’ twice then.”

“I couldn’t open the doors. I couldn’t open the windows. The car was moving. The driver did not stop. He did not take me to 19th Street. He took me to your apartment.”

Even if the legal system can’t hold anyone accountable for this nightmare of a 1991 evening, we can’t help but wonder what became of this driver who is also described as an accomplice.

“I didn’t try to kick the windows out. I didn’t punch or kick. I didn’t say, ‘What are you doing?’ My voice left me after the second ‘No."”

This is a survival mechanism. People talk about fight-or-flight, but still and silent is another reaction to danger.

“I felt dread and disorientation. I wanted to go home. I said I wanted to go home. I didn’t recognize the man next to me. I didn’t know if the situation would turn violent.”

This is why so many survivors of sexual assault don’t try to fight back. They don’t want to make a bad situation worse. They don’t want to die.

“I remember thinking that I must be crazy. I remember hoping that the Russell I knew would return any moment.”

She speaks of Simmons and his driver both maneuvering her into what may have been a private entrance to his room.

“You didn’t punch me, drag me, or verbally threaten me. You used your size to maneuver me, quickly, into the elevator. I said, ‘Wait. Wait."”

We can only imagine her terror in those moments.

“I felt dread. I was very, very sad. I didn’t know if the driver was a further threat, or an ally. I was both relieved and terrified when he did not get into the elevator. Alone in the elevator, you pressed me into the corner with your body, your hands, and your mouth.”

Disgusting.

“The elevator did not stop on the way up to your apartment. I was moved very quickly inside. I recall hearing the apartment door closing behind us.”

And this is where it escalates even further.

“You moved me into a bedroom. I said, ‘Wait.’ You said nothing. I made the trade in my mind. I thought, ‘Just keep him calm, and you’ll get home.’ Maybe another person would have thought differently, or not made the trade.”

Do you risk your life or do you just try to get out alive? There are no good options.

“It was dark but not pitch-dark. You closed the door. At that point, I simply did what I was told.”

And there are some details from the alleged assault, which she describes:

“There was penetration. At one point you were only semi-erect and appeared frustrated. Angry? I remember being afraid that you would deem that my fault and become violent. I did not know if you were angry, but I was afraid that you were.”

And further details, though it’s clear that at the forefront of her mind was fear.

“You told me to turn over on my stomach. You said something about a part of my body. You did not ejaculate inside me.”

She was able to leave after that and she took a taxi.

She did not tell anyone, and even saw him again — they had many mutual friends — for years afterwards. She says that she told a childhood friend in October, after the Weinstein scandal was really catching attention.

Russell Simmons has announced that he’s stepping back from his businesses. He says:

“While her memory of that evening is very different from mine, it is now clear to me that her feelings of fear and intimidation are real.”

if we hadn’t just read Jenny Lumet’s words, we might be tempted to applaud Russell Simmons for acknowledging her feelings.

But, no, not after what we just read. We can only imagine how difficult it was for Jenny to come forward, even with the cultural movement towards exposing predators.

Russell Simmons is a 60-year-old man whose net worth is something in the neighborhood of $ 350 million. Stepping back from his businesses, now, isn’t some sort of self-imposed punishment.

It’s retirement.

We don’t know how many more women will come forward with similar accusations towards Russell Simmons. Perhaps some will remain silent, satisfied that he’s acknowledged something. It’s not easy to relive your pain.

But, based upon Lumet’s allegations, based upon her story of a driver who apparently already knew what to do in order to usher her to the elevator … we would not be surprised if other women come forward with their memories.

Kevin Spacey: Celebrities React to Molestation Accusation

On Sunday night, the world was stunned by accuations that screen icon Kevin Spacey had made sexual advances toward actor Anthony Rapp, who was just 14 at the time of the alleged incident.

Spacey issued a public apology in which he also came out as gay, a move that has only exacerbated the scandal.

Many feel the Oscar winner callously attempted to manipulate the conversation and re-focus the media"s attention on his sexual orientation.

Here are some of the most incendiary celebrity reactions to both the allegations against Spacey and the actor"s unexpected response:

1. Spacey Responds

Spacey issued a public response to Rapp’s accusation almost immediately. Unfortunately for the House of Cards star, many felt there was a deeply cynical motive behind his statement.

2. Spacey Misses the Point

Spacey statement

“This story has encouraged me to address other things about my life,” Spacey wrote in a statement posted to social media. “As those closest to me know, in my life I have had romantic relationships with both men and women. I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man.”

3. Anthony Rapp

The most important response, of course, came from Rapp. But the actor certainly wasn’t the only one who had thoughts to express about Spacey.

4. Rose McGowan

Rose mcgowan

“Keep focus on #AnthonyRapp BE THE VICTIM’S VOICE,” wrote Rose McGowan. “Help us level the playing field.”

5. Billy Eichner

Comedian Billy Eichner says Spacey is a real innovator … just not in a good way.

6. Larry Wilmore

Amber Heard Slams Accusation of Blackmailing, Addresses Alleged Johnny Depp Abuse

Through her attorney, Amber Heard has responded to those who think she’s made up her accusations of abuse against Johnny Depp.

Heard took the celebrity gossip universe by shocking storm last week when she first filed for divorce from Depp… and then asked for an order of protection against the actor.

The actress claims she feared for her life as a result of Depp’s physical confrontations, showing up in court with facial wounds she says stemmed from Depp hurling an iPhone at her.

In light of these allegations against one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, many celebrities have chosen sides.

See the gallery below for an idea of which big names have said what about the scandal.

But no one has been more outspoken than comedian Doug Stanhope.

Over the weekend, The Wrap published an article by Stanhope titled “Johnny Depp is Being Blackmailed By Amber Heard – Here’s How I Know.”

So… how does he supposedly know?

Because Stanhope says he was actually with the couple on the day of the alleged iPhone throw and that Heard was “threatening to lie about [Depp] publicly in any and every possible duplicitous way if he didn’t agree to her [divorce terms].”

In other words, Stanhope says simply, Heard is blackmailing Depp with this accusation of abuse.

In response to the claim, Heard’s lawyer, Peter Sample, says via statement that the The Wrap printed “outrageous and defamatory false claims” about the actress in Stanhope’s guest column.

Demanding a retraction, Sample added:

“The foregoing allegations against Ms. Heard are absolutely and unequivocally false.”

On May 23, Heard filed a divorce petition.

In the legal document, she cited irreconcilable differences as the basis for the divorce and asked for spousal support from Depp.

Subsequently, on Friday, Heard wrote in court papers that she was abused by her husband throughout their four-year relationship and 15-month marriage.

On the  day Heard was granted her temporary domestic violence restraining order, Depp’s divorce attorney (Laura Wasser) alleged in her own court papers that Heard’s domestic abuse claims are monetarily motivated.

“Amber is attempting to secure a premature financial resolution by alleging abuse,” Wasser said.

“Her current application for a temporary restraining order along with her financial requests appears to be in response to the negative media attention she received earlier this week after filing for divorce.

“Yet Johnny cannot protect himself or Amber from media scrutiny, and Amber’s anger certainly cannot drive this dissolution proceeding.”
