Jill Janus, Singer of Rock Band Huntress, Commits Suicide
Jill Janus, the frontwoman for popular heavy metal band Huntress, was found dead on Tuesday, others in this group have confirmed.
She was 43 years old.
While details are still coming in regarding her passing, this is what band members wrote on Facebook last night as tragic confirmation of the news:
“It is with crushed hearts that we announce that Jill Janus – frontwoman for the California heavy metal band Huntress – passed away on Tuesday, August. 14.
“A long-time sufferer of mental illness, she took her own life outside of Portland, Oregon.”
Continued this post:
“Janus spoke publicly about these challenges in hopes of guiding others to address and overcome their mental illness.”
Huntress were formed in 2009 and released its first album, Spell Eater, in 2012.
The band went on to release a further a pair of orther records as well, while supporting and opening at times for rock bands Motörhead and Lamb of God.
Best known for the singing gig described above with Huntress, Janus also sang for a handful of female metal cover bands over the years, including The Starbreakers and Chelsea Girls.
“Beyond her accomplishments in the music world and her advocacy for mental health issues, she was a beautiful person passionate about her family, animal rescue and the world of natural medicine,” the Facebook message reads, concluding
“She will be missed more than she could have ever known.”
It is unclear at the moment just how Janus took her own life.
The artist was diagnosed with bipolar disease aged 20, telling Revolver magazine in 2015 that she struggled in high school after starting to show signs of this illness at 13 years old.
In response to this awful news, partner and Huntress member Blake Meahl paid tribute to Janus as follows yesterday:
“[We] spent 9 years together creating a home, having a family and building our passion project Huntress.
“The devastation of knowing I will never see her again is the most gutting emotion I have ever experienced. I hope you have found the peace that you couldn’t find on this planet.”
Added Lizzy Hale of Halestorm:
“I’d like to take a moment to state again how important it is to talk about mental health, and remind all of you out there battling demons that you are not alone.
I have to navigate my own dark labyrinth and I turn to music and writing for my lifeline. I want to encourage you to keep searching for Your lifeline, something that makes You happy.
To Jill, My sister of scream, I hope wherever you are you have found the peace that you couldn’t here.
My deepest sympathy’s go out to Jill’s Family and her band Huntress during this time.

Rick Genest Commits Suicide; Lady Gaga Mourns Death of Music Video Co-Star
Rick Genest, a model best known to music fans for his appearance in Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way” video, was found dead in his Montreal home on Wednesday.
He was 32 years old.
According to local reports, the Canadian model took his own life, although no further details are available at this time.
In a message on Facebook, Genest’s management company said he “was loved by all those who had the chance to meet him and know him.”
Translated from French, this is what the message reads:
The whole dulcedo family is shocked and pained by this tragedy. Zombie boy, Rico, was loved by all those who had the chance to meet him and know him. Icon of the artistic scene and the fashion world, this innovator, against popular culture, has been able to charm all hearts.
We received the unfortunate news at the beginning of the afternoon and members of the team have come to support his family and relatives in this dark and difficult moment.
We want to present our deepest condolences and the legend will survive human.
Thank you zb for these beautiful moments in your company and for your radiant smile.
Lady Gaga, meanwhile, who has spoken out often about her own struggles with mental health and about the challenges others face in this area, also paid tribute to Genest on Instagram.
T”he suicide of friend Rick Genest, Zombie Boy is beyond devastating,” the artist wrote, adding:
“We have to work harder to change the culture, bring Mental Health to the forefront and erase the stigma that we can’t talk about it. If you are suffering, call a friend or family today.
“We must save each other.”
The singer subsequently added two other messages along these same sad lines:

Kindness and mental health aren’t one time practices. They aren’t just to do list items.
This fall, in partnership with @btwfoundation, I’ll explore the power of habits to build cultures of kindness and wellness.
SECOND:
Science tells us that it takes 21 days to form a habit, if you are suffering from Mental Health issue I beckon for today to be your first day or a continuation of the work you’ve been doing.

Genest holds a Guinness World Record for the most insect tattoos on his body (a total of 176), as well as another record for the most human bone tattoos at 139.
Prior to his passing, Genest was involved with the Home Depot Canada Foundation, an organization that aims to bring awareness to youth homelessness.
Per iHeartRadio, Genest found work as a model after being featured in the Gaga’s aforementioned music video, modeling for magazines such as GQ, Vanity Fair, and Vogue Hommes.

Tina Turner"s Oldest Son Commits Suicide
Terrible news today out of the music world:
Tina Turner’s oldest son, Craig, was found dead at his home in Studio City, California at 12:58 p.m. this afternoon.
He was 59 years old.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has confirmed this tragedy, telling multiple outlets that Craig was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities reportedly arrived at his residence just after noon and pronounced him dead just a short while later, at the scene.
The aforementioned spokesperson told the press that a 911 call was placed, although it’s unclear just who made the call.
Says the spokesperson in a little more detail:
“The call was reported as a suicide, gun shot wound. The next of kin has been notified. There will be an autopsy done and there is an investigator at the scene.”
Craig was born when Tina was 18 years old, prior to her up-and-down marriage Ike Turner.
Once Tina and Ike were husband and wife, however, Ike adopted four-year old Craig.
(His biological father was a saxophonist named Raymond Hill, who performed with Ike’s band.)
This awful piece of news of comes as the legendary artist is making a rare trip outside her new home country of Switzerland to attend Paris Fashion Week events.
Craig Turner worked in the real estate business in the San Fernando Valley.
His mother is, simply put, one of the most successful and respected solo singers in history.
She counts “What’s Love Got to Do With it” and “Proud Mary” among her best-known singles.
Tina also starred in such movies as Mad Max: Thunderdome and Last Action Hero.
Craig’s suicide, meanwhile, follows a sad rash of similar events around the entertainment world.
Over the past few weeks alone, iconic fashiond designer Kate Spade has committed suicide, while beloved chef and author Anthony Bourdain has done the same.
Both these stars took their own lives via hanging.
Spade was 56 years old and Bourdain was 61.
May they rest in peace and may Craig Turner rest in peace.

J.R. Smith Commits Dumbest Play in NBA History
LeBron James became the sixth player in NBA history to score at least 50 points in an NBA Finals game on Thursday night.
And J.R. Smith became the first player in NBA history to grab an offense rebound under the basket with 4.5 seconds remaining and the game tied in the NBA Finals…
… only to them dribble the ball out beyond the three-point line until the final buzzer sounded and overtime could commence.
This situation really did happen in Game One between the Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors, as George Hill missed his second foul shot with the score knotted at 107 apiece.
Smith, incredibly, grabbed the rebound over Kedin Durant and had a chance to put the ball back in and win the game for Cleveland, propeling them to a shocking one game to zero series lead in the process.
But he elected not to do so.
Instead, he dribbled very far away from the basket and only managed to throw a pass to a teammate when it was way too late and the teammate was way out of position after he heard LeBron screaming at him about the score and the time.
It appeared as if Smith told James right afterward that he thought the Cavs were "ahead" and the game was over.
Alas, it was not.
The Warriors went on to dominate overtime and win the contest 124-114.
"It was a tie ballgame and we had a timeout," Smith told the media afterward, adding of his thinking:
"I tried to get enough space because, obviously, KD was standing right there. I tried to get enough space to bring it out to maybe get a shot off. And then I looked over at Bron, and he looked like he was trying to call a timeout.
"So I stopped. And then the game was over."
There"s no way this explanation is valid.
As you"re about to see below, Smith looked to have no intention of trying to score at all after securing the rebound, despite the seconds ticking away and an upset well within his team"s grasp.
(Thanks to LeBron putting up 51 points, eight rebounds and eight assists, that is.)
But while Cleveland fans may never forgive Smith for this blunder, the Internet is ever so thankful it took place.
Why?
Because it spawned an endless array of amazing memes based on LeBron"s reaction to Smith"s brain fart, such as the one above.

August Ames: Porn Star Commits Suicide at 23 Following Homophobia Scandal
Shocking news from the world of adult film today, as beloved performer-turned-controversial figure August Ames has been found dead.
The actress was just 23 years old.
Though no official cause of death has been given, it’s being widely reported that Ames (real name Mercedes Grabowski) took her own life.
The news comes on the heels of a controversy involving statements made by Ames about her refusal to film a scene with an actor who had previously starred in gay pornography films.
“Whichever (lady) performer is replacing me tomorrow for @EroticaXNews, you’re shooting with a guy who has shot gay porn, just to let cha know,” Ames tweeted on December 3.
“BS is all I can say. Do agents really not care about who they’re representing? #LAdirect I do my homework for my body.”
Ames later clarified that she did not intend for her statement to be construed as homophobic.
The performer in question, Jaxton Wheeler, has come under fire for a tweet in which he seemed to encourage Ames to commit suicide.
“The world is awaiting your apology or for you to take a cyanide pill. Either or we’ll take it,” Wheeler wrote.
Today, he’s posted several tweets clarifying that he had no intention of encouraging any bullying or online harassment:
“Emotions will be high today, I think it’s best to reflect and take away from this, I’m not asking for prior not to come at me, i know that will happen. But I’m gutted by this too,” Wheeler tweeted.
Ames’ final tweets reflect the increasingly hostile reaction to her original statement:
“F–k you guys for attacking me when none my intentions were malicious. I f–king love the gay community! What the f–k ever! I CHOOSE who I have inside my body. No hate,” she wrote on Monday.
Ames death was first reported by the trade magazine Adult Video News.
“She was the kindest person I ever knew and she meant the world to me,” her husband, director Kevin Moore, told AVN.
“Please leave this as a private family matter in this difficult time.”
Ames worked as a bartender prior to entering the adult film world in 2014.
In just under four years, she starred in more than 270 titles and took home many of the industry’s top prizes.
Many of her colleagues have taken to social media to pay tribute to the beloved performer:
“A beautiful life is GONE because people like to use their ‘fan base’ to bully others because THEIR opinion doesn’t agree with YOURS,” wrote Brett Rossi, a porn star and former girlfriend of Charlie Sheen’s.
“RIP to a sweet, kind, soul…I’m so sad & so angry. A life wasted simply because HER opinion didn’t mesh with YOURS.”

Brad Bufanda Commits Suicide; Veronica Mars Star Was 34
Brad Bufanda, an actor likely best known for his role on Veronica, committed suicide on Monday, a spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office has confirmed.
He was 34 years old.
According to multiple sources, the tragic incident took place early in the morning on November 1.
Bufanda’s body was discovered around 12:40 a.m. after he “jumped from a building,” this same spokesperson has told People Magazine, adding;
“[An] autopsy is done and it has been ruled an suicide.”
The cause of death, as one might sadly expect in this circumstance, was “sustained traumatic injuries.”
A pedestrian walking along South Fuller Avenue reportedly came upon Bufanda and called the police.
Paramedics were then dispatched to the scene, but it was too late; the actor was already dead.
Bufanda had a recurring role on the first two seasons of Veronica Mars, a beloved series on The CW that starred Kristen Bell and which was eventually turned into a movie.
He portrayed Felix Toombs on the dark comedy, a member of a biker gang.
Bufanda had also appeared on Malcom in the Middle, CSI: Miami, and the 2004 movie A Cinderella Story.
His most recent listed credit on IMDB is for a role in the upcoming movie Stan the Man.
Said Bufanda’s manager Kirsten Solem in response to the awful news:
“We are completely devastated for he was an extremely talented young actor and wonderful, caring human being.
“He was reviving his career, having just completed two movies, and we are shocked and saddened by his passing.
“The family would appreciate privacy at this difficult time.”
According to TMZ, Bufanda did leave a suicide note near the scene of his death. It is unknown at this time just what the note said.
Percy Daggs III and Francis Capra both starred opposite Bufanda on Veronica Mars and both are now mourning this loss.
“I’m heartbroken to hear of Brad Bufanda’s passing,” wrote Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas on Twitter, adding:
“He did great work on Veronica Mars. My heart goes out to his family.
The actor moved to Los Angeles from Southern California to pursue a full-time film career after graduating high school in 2001.
He had actually thought about pursuing a career in professional basketball until an injury ended those dreams.
We send our condolences to the family members, friends and loved ones of Brad Bufanda.

Son of Syndicated Radio Host Delilah Commits Suicide
Delilah Rene, a nationally syndicated radio host who specializes in dedicating love songs to fans who call in, broke some awful news to her Facebook followers yesterday:
Her son, Zachariah, committed suicide last Tuesday.
“My dear friends, I need to share some devastating news with you. In the early morning hours, Tuesday, October 3, my son Zachariah, took his life,” Delilah wrote to her 1.4 million online fans.
She went on to give a bit of background on Zachariah’s condition:
“He was being treated, counseled, and embraced fiercely by family and friends while battling depression for some time now.
“My heart is broken beyond repair and I can not fathom how to go on… but I have to believe he is at peace with the Lord and that God will get us through.”
In a January Facebook message, Delilah had said her son was autistic.
Zack was one of the host’s 13 children, 10 of whom are adopted.
Another child, Sammy, passed away in 2012 due to complications from sickle cell anemia, just two years after she adopted him from a Ghanaian refugee camp in West Africa.
This is what she wrote after that personal tragedy:
“My son Sammy passed from this world today into heaven, but he left behind a piece of his amazing soul in all that met him.
“As painful as this moment is, I am so so so so so thankful that God allowed me, my family and friends to experience the essence of his soul for the past two years.
“Everyone who met him was blessed by his big heart, his silly character voices, his wonderful sense of humor and his kindness towards all.
“He was a precious, precious young man and I praise the Lord that I was allowed to be bathed in Sammy’s love as his “MommaBear”…
“We have been forever changed by having him in our lives.”
Delilah is proudly known as the “Queen of Sappy Love Songs.”
She has responded to an endless array of requests and dedications throughout her impressive career, as her nightly show is recorded in her home and airs on various stations around the country.
“I will be absent from the radio and on social media for a time as I grieve and try to process this loss with my family,” Delilah wrote on Facebook shortly after confirming Zach’s passing.
She added:
“In the meantime we’ll be playing some of my favorite shows from the recent past. I’ll look forward to my return, as you all lift me up so very much.
“Please pray for my beloved Zacky, and I will pray for all suffering from this debilitating disease called depression.”

Aaron Hernandez Commits Suicide; The Internet Reacts
As you"ve surely heard by now, former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez was found dead in his prison cell early this morning.
He was acquitted of two counts of murder just last week, but he was convicted for the murder of fellow football player Odin Lloyd in 2015.
Since he was in a cell by himself, and since he was found hanging by a bed sheet, his death seems to be a suicide, but his attorney, along with many others, feel there"s a possibility he could have been murdered.
But whatever caused his death, one thing is certain: people have a whole, whole lot of feelings about it …
