Christina Grimmie"s Mother Tina Dies Two Years After Singer Was Killed

Two years after Christina Grimmie was murdered by a fan, her mother, Tina Grimmie has lost her battle with breast cancer.

“We are saddened to announce the loss of our beloved Tina, also affectionately known as ‘Mama Grimmie’ to the millions of fans of Christina Grimmie around the world. She will be missed immensely,” the Grimmie family said in a statement via social media on Sunday.

“Tina fought a courageous and brave battle with cancer for many years, even until her final hours with family by her side,” the statement continued.

“While this is a bittersweet moment for us as a family, particularly after losing Christina two years ago, we rejoice at the thought that Tina and Christina are united once again in the presence of our Lord and Savior.”

In June 2016, Christina was shot by Kevin James Loibl after performing as the opening act for Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando.

The singer was signing autographs for fans when the gunman opened fire.

Christina was hospitalized following the shooting but died from the gunshot wounds. Her killer turned the gun on himself shortly after Christina’s brother Marcus tackled him.

Loibl died at the scene as a result of his injuries.

“Tina Grimmie was a powerful and shining example of motherhood, being an amazing wife while giving love and encouragement to others. Her laugh, energy, passion and joyful spirit will eternally be a part of all of us,” the statement added.

“Tina was truly a one of a kind soul and our hearts are heavy. We respectfully ask for some private time to process her passing. In lieu of flowers, we invite you to make donations to the Christina Grimmie Foundation in Tina’s honor,” the statement continued.

Prior to her passing, Christina had been open about her mother’s health woes, admitting that she had survived breast cancer four times.

“My mom has had breast cancer four times, now. And she just got put back on chemo again,” she told AXS in October 2014.

Christina shot to fame in 2009 when she began uploading videos of her singing to her Youtube channel. The account racked up over 375 million views by 2013, further solidifying the fact that she was a talented young woman.

She went on to appear on NBC’s The Voice in 2014, and immediately struck a chord with viewers thanks to her vocal range and bubbly personality.

She ultimately finished in third place, behind winner Josh Kaufman and runner-up Jake Worthington.

Since Christina’s death, her family has kept in touch with fans by releasing previously recorded music, and by launching a foundation in the star’s name.

The foundation was started with the aim of supporting families who lost a loved one to gun violence and families with relatives diagnosed with breast cancer.

We extend our thoughts and prayers to the Grimmie family at this difficult time.

Tina Turner"s Oldest Son Commits Suicide

Terrible news today out of the music world:

Tina Turner’s oldest son, Craig, was found dead at his home in Studio City, California at 12:58 p.m. this afternoon.

He was 59 years old.

A spokesperson for the Los Angeles County Coroner’s office has confirmed this tragedy, telling multiple outlets that Craig was discovered with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities reportedly arrived at his residence just after noon and pronounced him dead just a short while later, at the scene.

The aforementioned spokesperson told the press that a 911 call was placed, although it’s unclear just who made the call.

Says the spokesperson in a little more detail:

“The call was reported as a suicide, gun shot wound. The next of kin has been notified. There will be an autopsy done and there is an investigator at the scene.”

Craig was born when Tina was 18 years old, prior to her up-and-down marriage Ike Turner.

Once Tina and Ike were husband and wife, however, Ike adopted four-year old Craig.

(His biological father was a saxophonist named Raymond Hill, who performed with Ike’s band.)

This awful piece of news of comes as the legendary artist is making a rare trip outside her new home country of Switzerland to attend Paris Fashion Week events.

Craig Turner worked in the real estate business in the San Fernando Valley.

His mother is, simply put, one of the most successful and respected solo singers in history.

She counts “What’s Love Got to Do With it” and “Proud Mary” among her best-known singles.

Tina also starred in such movies as Mad Max: Thunderdome and Last Action Hero.

Craig’s suicide, meanwhile, follows a sad rash of similar events around the entertainment world.

Over the past few weeks alone, iconic fashiond designer Kate Spade has committed suicide, while beloved chef and author Anthony Bourdain has done the same.

Both these stars took their own lives via hanging.

Spade was 56 years old and Bourdain was 61.

May they rest in peace and may Craig Turner rest in peace.

Our thoughts go out to Tina and all of her loved ones.

Tina Fey and Cake Yelling: See Twitter"s Mixed Reactions!

Before the news broke that Steve Bannon was leaving the White House to spend more time with the other three Horsemen, the biggest political news of the day was Tina Fey"s Cake Sketch from SNL"s Weekend Update.

We"ll be honest — we watched it more than once this morning.

In the video, Tina Fey devours a sheet cake in a frighteningly messy manner while roasting Trump over his horrendous response to the Nazi rally and terrorist attack in Charlottesville that left one dead and dozens more injured over the weekend.

Trump"s initial weak response was bad enough, but to double down on saying that maybe some Nazis are decent folks days later was monstrous.

Personally, I responded to that bewildering press conference by walking to get ice cream with my roommate. According to this bit of sketch comedy, Tina Fey had a similar idea — to cope by devouring an entire cake.

The video has received a mixed reception, however, as some perceived Tina Fey"s skit as suggesting that people shouldn"t counter-protest when Nazis come to town. Tina does basically say that, but it"s part of a skit and some aren"t convinced that we"re supposed to read that as genuine advice.

Others see the entire skit as a parody of people choosing to be inactive in the face of evil. Satirizing people who just "sit out" of conflicts isn"t the same as promoting that way of thinking, right?

Twitter was pretty divided, but here"s what people had to say:

1. First, someone who worked with Tina

Tina fey cake tweet 00

Honestly, we might try out some cake yelling. But with friends, and with tidy slices.

2. High praise …

Tina fey cake tweet 01

Like the rest of the world, JK Rowling has to keep up with US events even though she’s a Brit.

3. More cake talk …

Tina fey cake tweet 02

When you haven’t had cake in a really long time, all of this cake talk gets to you

4. Lady Gaga spoke up

Tina fey cake tweet 03

A lot of people feel frustrated and powerless and turn to comfort food. The stars: they’re just like us!

5. Grilled cheese is nice

All that we can think about with this is Kristen Stewart comparing heterosexuality to eating grilled cheese.

6. Tina Fey got some criticism, though

Tina Fey Slams Donald Trump on Weekend Update, Eats Cake

Tina Fey made a triumphant, hilarious, emotional and delicious return to Weekend Update on Thursday night.

The former co-anchor of this Saturday Night Live segment appeared opposite Colin Jost and Michael Che to discuss Donald Trump, the events in Charlottesville last weekend and the President"s subsequent reaction.

It should be noted that Fey graduated from the University of Virigina, where a rally organized by White Supremacists took place a week ago.

"It broke my heart to see these evil forces descend upon Charlottesville," Fey said to open her speech, prior to calling out President Trump for his refusal to condemn the violence committed by neo-Nazis at the demonstration.

"[Trump] comes out and he says that he condemns violence on many sides, and I’m feeling sick because I’ve seen Raiders of the Lost Ark and I wasn’t confused by it.

"Nazis are always bad. I don’t care what you say."

Somehow, even in 2017, this is a statement that many people have had to say in response to the President NOT saying anything like it.

Fey then offered advice to those trying to make a difference… and/or simply trying to keep safe.

"I know a lot of us are feeling anxious and asking ourselves, "What can I do?"

"So I would urge people this Saturday, instead of participating in these screaming matches and potential violence, find a local business that you support – maybe a Jewish-run bakery, or an African-American-run bakery.

"Order a cake with the American flag on it like this one and just eat it."

And with that, yes: you better believe Fey tore into a giant sheet cake.

"The next time you see a bunch of white guys in polo shirts screaming about taking our country back – and you wanna scream, "It"s not our country. We stole it from the Native Americans," she explained, adding:

"And when they have a peaceful protest at Standing Rock we shoot at them with rubber bullets, but we let you chinless turds march through the streets with semi-automatic weapons."

"And while you wanna yell that, don"t yell it at the Klan, Colin. Yell it into the cake."

Tina Fey to White, Female Donald Trump Voters: Look at What You Did!

Tina Fey may very well be the funniest woman on the planet.

But the beloved actress was not in a joking mood on Friday night.

Speaking at the American Civil Liberties Union’s Stand for Rights benefit in New York City, the former 30 Rock star and current Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt producer couldn’t help but share her thoughts on Donald Trump.

Specifically, Fey shared her thoughts on the people who voted for Donald Trump.

Even more specifically, she shared her thoughts on one demographic in particular who voted for Donald Trump.

“A lot of this election was turned by white, college-educated women who now would maybe like to forget about this election and go back to watching HGTV,” Fey said as part of conversation with New York Civil Liberties Union executive director Donna Lieberman and ACLU deputy legal director Louise Melling.

The first part of that statement is a fact, as the number of educated women who cast a vote for Trump over Hillary Clinton really was astounding.

These individuals were somehow not turned off by Trump’s philosophy of just grabbing women by their pussy.

The second part of that statement, meanwhile, was a pretty harsh slam by someone such as Fey, who clearly picks and chooses her spots when it comes to getting involved in the political fray.

Go back to watching HGTV?

We love Fixer Upper as much as the next website, but that’s a clear dig at women who just sit at home, do very little during the day and don’t have any real idea of issues affecting most Americans.

Addressing this same set of females, Fey added:

“I would want to urge them … ‘You can’t look away’ because it doesn’t affect you this minute, but it’s going to affect you eventually.

“Again, open two windows. Do watch HGTV, but [don’t] turn our attention away from what is happening.”

It’s true: HGTV has some really entertaining television shows. But that really isn’t the point right now.

Earlier in the evening, ex-Saturday Night Live head writer took the stage at the fundraising event to speak out about women’s rights and to poke fun at the president and his administration.

“Did you know that women still only make one Ghostbusters movie to every two made by men?” she quipped.

“And men average Ocean’s Eleven for every Ocean’s Eight that goes to women. That is simply unacceptable.”

Just a few days ago, Vice President Mike Pence cast a tiebreaking vote in the Senate on legislation that will make it more difficult for women in rural areas to receive proper care.

“Right now it’s not just about fighting for progress,” Fey continued.

“Gains we’ve made over the last hundred years are under attack. Luckily, [Vice President] Mike Pence isn’t allowed to go down and shut down Planned Parenthood unless his wife goes with him.

“So, you know, if we can just keep Karen busy scrapbooking, we can all still get pap smears.”

That’s a pretty good joke.

It’s a reference to how the Vice President said his religion bans him from having dinner alone with any woman who isn’t his wife.

Sort of makes it hard for him to work with anyone of the opposite gender, doesn’t it?

Bristol Palin SLAMS Tina Fey: Her Voice Is Like "Nails On a Chalkboard"!

Last weekend on SNL, Tina Fey treated viewers to yet another hilarious impersonation of Sarah Palin, mocking the speech in which the former Alaska governor endorsed Donald Trump for president.

Palin’s daughter Bristol, however, was not impressed.

The Dancing With the Stars alum admitted she can’t stand the sound of Fey’s voice when she impersonates her mom.

“I’m sure many of you saw Tina Fey, who sounds nothing like my mom, do a skit based on my Mom’s endorsement of Donald Trump,” Palin wrote on her blog. “I don’t know about you, but hearing her fake accent is like nails on a chalkboard for me!”

Totally understandable. If someone made fun of my mom, I’d be her biggest defender as well.

But then Palin took things to the shallow end of the pool by criticizing Fey’s looks.

“I may be biased, but I think my mom trumps her in the looks department. (Especially for having three more kids and seven more years on Tina!)” she wrote.

Real classy, Bristol.

Nice to see that a young woman such as yourself is focusing on issues of importance here, because when women are involved, it’s really all about their physical appearance, isn’t it?

Palin also thinks SNL needs to just let this skit go, already.

Saturday Night Live and Fey have been clinging to this impersonation a little too long,” the mother of two lamented. “It’s getting pathetic. Its been 7 years! Are they desperate for content? Or just desperate for viewers?”

Welp, maybe when your mom stops spewing out ridiculously laughable comments that almost seem designed for parody, these sketches will die off on their own.

As it stands, viewers and critics alike still love it when Fey does the former vice presidential candidate.

In a final petty blow, Palin brought up the black fringed jacket worn by her mom and a similar one worn by Fey in the sketch.

“I think my mom wore it better. What do you think?” she wrote, then included a poll in which readers could vote.

The result?

Tina Fey: 78%, Sarah Palin: 22%

I think the audience has spoken.

Sarah Palin Mocks Tina Fey in "31 Rock" Promo

Sarah Palin is attempting to have the last laugh in her ongoing feud with Tina Fey.

Over the weekend, Fey reprised her impression of the former Vice Presidential candidate while hosting Saturday Night Live.

And now Palin has attempted to fire back by doing her own impression of the actress and starring as a Liz Lemon-type character in a fake show titled "31 Rock."

The 60-second parody finds Palin starring as Lynn Melon, “a small-town TV writer who moves to NYC in hopes of creating a hit variety show.”

We see her trying to get through to a writer"s room full of "nerds," while elsewhere complaining about the lack of a snowflake on her Starbucks cup and pretty much just acting like Liz Lemon on the actual 30 Rock.

So it"s not entirely clear just what Palin is mocking because, first, Liz Lemon is just a character, she"s not actually Tina Fey.

Second, Palin is mostly just acting like Lemon here. Where"s the parody? And just what is Palin parodying, Fey"s key role on a long-running, critically-acclaimed sitcom?

In addition to Palin, the trailer features appearances by 30 Rock veteran Kevin Brown (reprising his role as Dot Com), as well as Palin’s former running mate John McCain.

Yes, John McCain is associating himself with Sarah Palin again for some reason.

We give up.

Just watch the supposed mockery now:

Tina Fey and Amy Poehler Mock "Bad Blood" Music Video

Remember when Taylor Swift told Tina Fey and Amy Poehler to go to Hell?

We wonder what the singer will say now…

The beloved actresses and real-life best friends hosted Saturday Night Live this weekend, taking a few moments in one sketch to mock Swift"s Bad Blood music video.

The sketch opens with Aidy Bryant doing an interview with the women and asking them about how they handle being working mothers.

Fey and Poehler reply by saying they get by with help from their squads, which includes nannied, their shared gynecologist and a few very famous faces.

Yup, that"s Amy Schumer over there!

And, look! There"s a Gayle King sighting!

The hosts even recreated the look of Taylor"s famous movie-esque video (sort of) by including wigs, tight costumes, post-apocalyptic walks, fire and also a rap about the PTA and UTIs by Bryant.

It was all rather amazing and definitely all in good fun.

But will Swift react to it negatively?

Or has she forgiven Fey and Poehler for the jokes they made at her expense in 2013 at the Golden Globe Awards?

Watch the hilarious video now.
