90 Day Fiance Fraud: Did Jon and Rachel Secretly Meet Before Filming?

We’ve only just met the 90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days Season 2 couples, but one couple is already stirring up some controversy.

Jon and Rachel seem like a simple romance with only a few complications. They’re even both age-appropriate for each other — all too rare on this show.

But … are they trying to pull the wool over the eyes of producers and viewers with a massive fraud?

For original recipe 90 Day Fiance, the premise is that the couple is spending time together in America for the first time — which means that they have a time limit.

90 Day Fiance: Before The 90 Days does not take place in America. Viewers often get to see the first time that a long-distance couple meets in person.

That is what they supposedly got with Jon Walters, who comes from Cornwall, England, and Rachel Bear, who comes from Albuquerque, New Mexico.

But a number of fan sleuths and conspiracy theorists suspect that Jon and Rachel may have secretly met before the show ever filmed.

They also believe that they were already engaged for a while.

The whole tagline on Jon and Rachel’s shared Instagram, @followourfairytale, is “Our first meeting will be on TLC’s #BeforeThe90Days.”

But, once upon a time, the two of them appear to have had a second Instagram account, titled @supportthefairytale.

That Instagram may not be around anymore, but it looks like they were using it to raise funds from people who supported their long-distance relationship.

Why does it look that way?

Well, because of this GoFundMe that they apparently used to raise funds.

Jon and Rachel gofundme

Even if we somehow believed that this was just a GoFundMe set up by two lookalikes who happen to have the same names, we can’t accept that any other couple could take selfies as poorly as these two.

Their financial goal was apparently met, and they raked in $ 1,872.

These funds would presumably be used either for Rachel to fly out to visit Jon or for him to fly out to visit her.

That said, there is no official date, so they could have been raising money for fare for Rachel to fly out for the show.

But the GoFundMe isn’t all that has people wondering if these two met in person before filming ever began.

Then, there are little things — little pieces of phrasing.

The couple celebrated their anniversary on September 1, 2017.

Rachel and Jon wrote on Instagram: “Over a year together before we first met in the flesh.”

They wrote met, in the past tense. Maybe a typo, maybe just their eagerness talking … or maybe they let something slip.

Rachel also shared a photo of her standing with two passports on August 3, 2017.

That was months before filming began (as you may have noticed, they began filming with Rachel some time around the winter holiday season).

Some fans wondered if she was just preparing, or if she rushed to meet Jon before the cameras began rolling.

There’s also this line: “I want to kiss your lips, touch your skin and finally say ‘I do.’ I love you, Jon Walters. I’ll be there soon.”

This was months before filming began.

We know that Rachel and Jon are already married, and tied the knot even before this season began airing, so it’s believable that they had met and were engaged before they were ever on camera.

That said … maybe they were just eager and wanted to line up their money and passports in advance. And maybe they’re just that crazy about each other.

Rachel Lindsay: If Becca Kufrin Picks Garrett, She Owes The World an Apology!!

If you follow The Bachelorette Spoilers, you already know who Becca Kufrin picks. If not … you must be on the edge of your seat with worry.

Major concerns are that Becca will choose Garrett Yrigoyen, whose bigoted social media history was exposed … but after the finale was filmed.

Well, Rachel Lindsay is no stranger to being Bachelorette or to having a bigoted suitor. And she has some advice for Becca if Garrett is her man.

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, former Bachelorette Rachel Lindsay has advice for Becca — if she should choose Garrett as her fiance.

“I want to hear more than just an apology,” Rachel says, speaking for a large swathe of the Bachelor Nation.

Garrett apologized for his hateful posts, but a lot of fans felt that he was just sorry that he was caught.

Rachel explains that an apology isn’t enough: “I want to hear an explanation.”

If Becca does choose Garrett — who was one to watch from the first day and who has now made it to the very end — Becca won’t want this cloud hanging over her engagement.

“They have to talk about it,” Rachel advises.

Rachel talks about why Becca, in particular, will need to explain why she’s engaged to Garrett — especially after Becca defended Garrett.

“Becca’s a liberal,” Rachel points out. “And the things he was liking were very conservative, far right.”

Rachel thinks better of her words and corrects her characterization of the content that Garrett was enjoying on Instagram.

Rachel adds that it was “more than conservative [and] a little offensive.”

As multiple bloggers commented when it first broke the news, the material that Garrett seemed to love so much transcended party lines.

“So,” Rachel says. “I think they need to address it now.”

You don’t want this kind of thing to follow you to your wedding day. Assuming that Becca makes it that far with whichever new man she chooses.

Rachel says that Becca should step up “and have a game plan of how they’re going to face the media.”

“People will read through the BS,” Rachel warns.

So she cautions them: “Don’t try to cover it up and put a Band-Aid on it.”

“Just say what you did, why you did it,” Rachel advises. “People will forgive you.”

Rachel even delves into how she would address the situation if Bryan Abasolo had been exposed as a bigot.

“[I would handle it] probably the same way I did with Lee,” Rachel says.

Lee was, of course, a contestant on her season. She was the franchise’s first-ever black Bachelorette, and Lee … well, Lee was racist.

“I addressed it,” Rachel reminds the world. “I said, ‘If you need a history lesson, I can give you one backstage.’ That’s how I would deal with it.”

Of course, Lee absolutely did not make it to the end of Rachel’s season. Garrett is another story.

Rachel says that, if she were in Becca’s shos, “I would have to address it head-on and I’d be pretty tough about it.”

People had a lot of concerns about Rachel Lindsay’s own choice last year.

As you may recall, she picked Bryan Abasolo, whom many people perceived as a liar who would say whatever she wanted to hear, over Peter Kraus.

But Rachel and Bryan are still together and seem happy. Sometimes, people do know what’s best for themselves.

Perhaps Becca sees something in Garrett that the rest of us, who have known for quite a while what sort of man he is beneath the surface, do not.

But … regardless, they’re going to need to face this head-on.

Rachel Maddow Cries, Can"t Finish Report on Immigrant Kids

Rachel Maddow tried.

She really did.

Toward the end of her program on Tuesday night, the MSNBC commentator tried to read a breaking news update about the immigration crisis in America.

But the pundit grew overwhelmed by emotion while reading a report about how babies and toddlers were being taken away from their parents and placed by the government in special holding areas/shelters.

"This is incredible," Maddow said to open this segment, quickly reading a news update from the Associated Press and then relaying it ti viewers as follows:

"Trump administration officials have been sending babies and other young children…"

She could not maintain her composure, however, not in the face of the latest atrocity committed by this administration.

"Oh, hold on," she said midway through her sentence.

Maddow attempted to continue, but she ended up concluding her show and introducing the host of the following program, Lawrence O"Donnell, who was live in Brownsville, Texas.

After the emotional footage webt viral, Maddow took to Twitter to apologize for the breakdown and share an outline of what she intended to say during the broadcast.

"Ugh, I"m sorry," she wrote in a series of tweets, adding:

"If nothing else, it is my job to actually be able to speak while I"m on TV. What I was trying to do– when I suddenly couldn"t say/do anything  –  was read this lede."

Maddow then shared the entire story with her followers.

"Again, I apologize for losing it there for a moment.  Not the way I intended that to go, not by a mile," Maddow said to wrap up her mea culpa.

As you might expect, the incident has drawn sympathy from Liberals and mockery from Conservatives.

Some believe Maddow was being sincere and can absolutely relate to the heartache she is experiencing while learning that young kids are being torn away from their parents at the U.S. border…

… while others are scoffing at her waterworks and using them as an example of how lame bleeding-heart Democrats can be.

We"re not here to judge, really. Just to pass the clip along because it"s now a part of the national discourse.

Check it out for yourself above.

Rachel Lindsay: Bachelor Fans Are Too Racist to Have Another Black Bachelorette

Rachel Lindsay was The Bachelorette‘s first black leading lady. A lot of people were troubled that it took until Season 13 for that to happen.

Now, Rachel is engaged, but she’s not optimistic about the chances of seeing another black Bachelorette in the near future.

Why? Because, well, the viewers are racist.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Rachel Lindsay shares her doubts about the next black Bachelorette lead.

“I don’t think Bachelor Nation is ready for the diversity of a lead … an African American lead.”

That is … so heartbreaking to hear.

Rachel does clarify that she thinks that there will be leads of color in the future, but she says:

“I think there’ll be an [African American] man before there’ll be another woman.”

That is, unfortunately, what happens in a culture where white (among other things) is treated as “default.”

Her fiancee, Bryan Abasolo, adds:

“I think there definitely needs to be more diversity on the show.”

That is something that a number of fans have called four.

The surplus of Laurens on the last season of The Bachelor really illustrated how homogenous the casts can be.

Bryan says: “Whether America is ready for it, that’s yet to be seen.”

Rachel interjects, saying that she has more concerns about the franchise’s fanbase than she does about overall American culture.

“It’s not America; it’s Bachelor Nation.”

Rachel explains that, even if Arie’s brutal breakup had never happened, whoever would have been the lead in Becca Kufrin’s stead would not have been black.

“I don’t think that there would have been two black Bachelorettes in a row.”

And she can point to exactly why.

“I just don’t think the nation … I mean look at the ratings from the season.”

Her season’s ratings, she says, were “significantly lower than Jojo’s.”

That is heartbreaking.

Rachel says that she didn’t see racist trolling against her on social media … which is totally believable, if she has never once checked her mentions from people she doesn’t already follow.

Bryan admits that he “definitely saw it.”

“There was a lot of backlash in terms of race for her, and I think she handled herself with such grace and elegance and pride.”

Remember, there was even a racist guy on her season — though not for long.

“I think she represented the African American community beautifully.”

That she did.

Racial representation is not and has never been a strong suit of The Bachelor.

Are so many members of the Bachelor Nation truly so very racist that they just won’t tune in to watch a black woman find love?

We’d love to believe that there’s another culprit.

But Rachel brings up a great point. And something has to change.

For that matter, many in the Bachelor Nation have wanted diversity in other ways. A Bachelor or Bachelorette. A trans Bachelor or Bachelorette.

And let’s not forget that racial diversity isn’t limited to the African American community.

Representation is important.

Rachel McAdams: Pregnant with Someone"s Baby!

Rachel McAdams is currently starring in the movie Game Night.

And this somehow seems appropriate, considering the following news:

Rachel McAdams will soon be playing many kids games!

Because Rachel McAdams is pregnant with her first child!

The actress has been keeping a very low profile for several weeks now, and multiple entertainment news outlets have discovered why.

According to such reliable sources as E! News and Life & Style, the actress isn’t just expecting a boy or a girl…

… she’s expecting a boy or a girl in the very near future.

The latter tabloid mentioned above actually writes that McAdams is “heavily” pregnant and was spotted at dinner just last week, looking about “seven months” along.

This would put her due date at some time in April.

As for who impregnated McAdams?

She dated The Notebook co-star Ryan Gosling for many years, prior to moving on to actor Michael Sheen.

And while we don’t have confirmation at the moment because neither McAdams nor anyone associated with the star has spoken out on the pregnancy, we’re pretty sure the father is screenwriter and producer Jamie Linden.

She was spotted holding hands with Linden in the summer of 2016, sparking rumors of a romance.

But there haven’t been very many public appearances made by the alleged couple since.

Linden dated Zooey Deschanel’s from 2012 through 2014 and graduated from Florida State University. He wrote the movies Dear John and 10 Years, both of which featured Channing Tatum.

McAdams, meanwhile, typically remains pretty quiet about her personal life.

Way back in 2009, however, she did tell People Magazine that she’d love to be a mother someday.

“Having a few [children] would be great,” she said at the time.

Morever, she told the publication:

“My mom is a great inspiration to me… She’s a nurse and very nurturing and gentle. She lets me be who I am.

“Hopefully I can take on those qualities and be as great as her.”

As for how serious she is with Linden?

“Rachel is ready to settle down and start a family,” an insider told Star Magazine last April, adding of her beau:

“She can’t wait to start the rest of her life with Jamie.”

How exciting!

We send our very best wishes to this twosome and their impending bundle of joy!

Rachel Lindsay: Lauren Burnham Will Win The Bachelor! Show"s Over!

The Bachelor’s coveted hometown dates begin tonight, with Arie Luyendyk Jr.’s final four women introducing them to their families.

According to one woman who’s been on both sides of this Bachelor milestone, however, three of them might as well not even bother …

… because Arie’s made up his mind. Show’s over. Go home. Turn out the lights, move along, nothing more to see here folks.

And Rachel Lindsay, last year’s star of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, isn’t basing this on The Bachelor spoilers, either.

In Lindsay’s view, Lauren Burnham wrapped this thing up on last week’s episode, before the hometown dates even began.

The crazy part, Rachel writes, is not that Arie has an established favorite at this point, but that it’s her, in spite of red flags.

Many red flags. Like very red, and a lot of flags.

Rachel believes this is a major cause for alarm:

“There are a lot of new things that Arie and Lauren B. are experiencing together but one thing remains constant: the lack of communication.”

“This is surprising because [the] lovebirds are on this Italian adventure exploring a different country and one another for the first time.”

“Still, they have nothing to talk about.”

“Those are not red, white and green flags waving in the distance, those are red ones. Is it just me or is this not alarming?” she continues.

“Arie is again concerned about his relationship with Lauren B., as he should be. I, too, am worried that there is no depth in this relationship.”

Lindsay notes that Arie himself even admits that “he is trying so hard … harder than in any other relationship” to make it work.

Why, though? Is that part of the appeal of Lauren Burnham? “I wonder: is this love, infatuation, or just the hard-to-get challenge of it all?”

Even when she did open up, “she only says she is falling in love with her words because there is absolutely no emotion in her face.”

His response? “Arie gets up and walks away.”

“We never get the full answer of why he does this, but my best guess is that he is overcome with so much emotion that she is falling for him.”

What the heck is going on with these two!?

Rachel’s theory on what happened?

“I personally think he took a moment to run off, jump for joy, click his heels together in the air, and scream with delight into the night.”

“He comes back to her and says all of the following without hesitation: ‘I want it so bad for us.’ He is falling ‘deeply’ in love with her.”

“Ummmm, excuse me for two seconds. What did Arie just say? All further dates will be painful and pale in comparison to this one.”

“That’s it! Show is over … there is nothing more to see here. He literally just told Lauren she is the one and everyone else is a placeholder.”

Yup, that was it, says Rachel: “Arie is on Cloud 9 with Lauren B. while the other women are looking up at them from their hotel rooms.”

“I would be so upset if I were the other girls watching this at home. In hindsight, it is too bad they all couldn’t have the foresight Jacqueline did.”

Crazily, Lindsay may be right … but:

If you believe The Bachelor spoilers, Arie’s final rose winner and the person he is with right now are not the same person.

That’s all we’re going to say about that here, but how’s that for an epic twist in the making as the home stretch begins?!

Rachel Lindsay & Bryan Abasolo: Preparing to Elope?!

We all make mistakes. Most of us don’t have our mistakes broadcast on international television. But the whole world saw Rachel Lindsay choose Bryan Abasolo.

They’re still together though, and Rachel’s talking about wedding plans.

But … it sounds like she might just elope.

Speaking to Us Weekly, Rachel Lindsay gushed about her engagement to Bryan Abasolo and how eager she is to tie the knot.

“I’m ready to be married.”

Well, it would have been weird for her to go on The Bachelor and then star on The Bachelorette otherwise.

“I keep saying winter wedding, which more so with the process of everything is what it’s looking like, but honestly I could elope with Bryan tomorrow.”

A winter wedding sounds lovely, right?

Elopement sounds … well, it probably sounds a lot easier. And apparently Rachel’s mother agrees.

“And it’s so funny because my mom texted me the other day and she goes, ‘Secretly I would love for you to just elope.’”

It’s hard to tell if her mother really wants that or if she’s just fatigued at the idea of this huge, expensive wedding.

“The family loves him,” Rachel claims.

That sounds a little different from what we saw on Hometown Dates, but … okay.

“I want good music, good vibes, a lot of family and friends around, and I just want it to be a big reunion, that I know.”

That sounds like what most people want for their weddings.

“Someone said the other day, ‘What about having the wedding in Colombia?’ and actually that’s a thought that we’re thinking about right now.”

What would be the point of a winter wedding if it’s in Columbia? But she’s a Texas girl, and perhaps doesn’t enjoy the cold.

“That’s the first time I’ve said that out loud!”

Usually, you want your fiance or at least your wedding planner to be the person you tell, not Carly from Us Weekly. No offense to Carly.

Rachel Lindsay talks about her friends that she made within the Bachelor Nation.

“They’re with me everywhere.”

Awww, that’s sweet to imagine.

“I’m stuck with them for life.”

That … well, we’re sure that she’s joking.

She goes on to gush about what it’s like to be engaged to Bryan Abasolo.

“Bryan’s romantic every day.”

He promised her a fairytale romance, and it sounds like he’s delivering.

“He’s always giving me massages, he’s always catering to my needs to the point where I’m like, ‘Hold on. Let me do something for you.’”

That sounds like it might be bordering on TMI, but it also sounds very pleasant.

“Bryan’s just very sweet. Whenever I need something he’s very attentive to it, so I would say he’s romantic every single day.”

She also talks about their disagreements when it comes to children:

“I want four kids. Bryan wants three, but he also says it depends on how many we can afford.”

We never imagined that we’d say this, but … we’re team Bryan Abasolo.

“See, this is what I mean about Bryan, he’s so practical. I’m just like, ‘Give me all the babies. If we can’t have them, we’re adopting.’ So we’ll see.”

Let’s see if she still wants four after a few months of infant-induced sleep deprivation.

Rachel talks about some more immediate plans that she and Bryan have.

“We’re spending Christmas with his family.”

Bryan Abasolo has gushed in the past about how much his grandma loves Rachel Lindsay.

“We’re gonna be two weeks in Miami. He spent Thanksgiving with my family, so it’s all been so seamless in how it’s all come together.”

Well, if you like wasting part of winter in warm climates where the weather takes “winter” as a mere suggestion, Miami sounds lovely.

Just not as lovely as Peter Kraus.

Selma Blair & Rachel McAdams Accuse James Toback of Sexual Harassment

Just a few days ago, 38 women came forward and accused director James Toback of sexual misconduct. 38 is an alarmingly high number.

The number of accusers has now grown to the hundreds.

Among Toback’s accusers are Rachel McAdams and Selma Blair, who are bravely sharing their harrowing stories.

In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein sexual harassment scandal, more and more people in Hollywood are sharing their #MeToo stories and feeling brave enough to speak up, and shatter the culture of silence.

One of the men accused of perpetrating a pattern of sexual misconduct in the entertainment industry is an Oscar-nominated director.

According to the initial allegations, James Toback uses similar tactics on different women.

He allegedly approaches young women if they aren’t sent to him and promises to boost their careers, citing what he did for Robert Downey Jr.

Once alone in a place like a hotel room, he reportedly becomes inappropriate, all under the guise of it just being part of the entertainment business.

He would reportedly try things like humping women’s legs, masturbating in front of them, and ask them unacceptable questions.

(In particular, based upon the accusations, he seems obsessed with talking about masturbation and fixated on women’s pubic hair)

The issue, of course, is that none of this was consensual.

These aren’t accusations of weird dates, these are accusations that he used the false pretense of work-related meetings to lure women to him, where he would then ambush them and coerce them — successfully or not — into playing their role in his twisted fantasies.

All of that is enough to turn your stomach, but there’s more.

As we said, hundreds of women have now reached out to say that they had experiences like those described with James Tomack.

And two big-name actresses, Rachel McAdams and Selma Blair, are sharing their stories with Vanity Fair.

Selma Blair says that she met with him to discuss Harvard Man, at a time when Selma Blair had filmed her famous role in Cruel Intentions but the film had not yet been released.

After Toback apparently refused to leave his hotel room to meet her in the restaurant, Selma went up to meet him. She describes how uncomfortable she became.

“He said, ‘Where are your parents?’ I was thinking, ‘Why is he trying to make me feel so uncomfortable?’ But I realize now he was really trying to figure out what support system I had. I answered him. My mother was in Michigan, and I had an estranged relationship with my father.”

Meaning no family support network in town to speak of.

“James said, ‘You know, I could have him killed.’ He sat back in his chair and said really confidently, ‘I do it all the time. I know people."”

That’s scary … and it will come up again.

“It was about 40 minutes in and he said, ‘Will you trust me? I cannot continue to work with you unless you trust me.’ He said, ‘I need you to take your clothes off. I need you to do this monologue naked."”

As ridiculous as that sounds, Selma was thoroughly intimidated at this point and ended up caving to his request. She says that then, of course, he started rubbing himself through his clothes … and asking if she would have sex with him.

She declined, but he didn’t seem impressed by her refusal.

“I felt trapped. I did not know how to get out and save face and not make a scene. Was I imagining it? He dropped some names [of actresses] that he did some really dark sexual things with.”

And there was an implied threat in that.

“These felt like lies and dark gossip and that he would add my name to the list. I went to leave and he got up and blocked the door. He said, ‘You have to do this for me. You cannot leave until I have release."”

“He said, ‘It’s O.K. I can come in my pants. I have to rub up against your leg. You have to pinch my nipples. And you have to look into my eyes.’ I thought, ‘Well, if I can get out of here without being raped …"”

No one should ever be put into this position.

“He walked me back to the bed. He sat me down. He got on his knees. And he continued to press so hard against my leg. He was greasy and I had to look into those big brown eyes.”

Gross.

“I tried to look away, but he would hold my face. So I was forced to look into his eyes. And I felt disgust and shame, and like nobody would ever think of me as being clean again after being this close to the devil. His energy was so sinister.”

After that, Selma says, he reminded her that he could supposedly have people killed, and admonished her to keep quiet.

That didn’t stop Selma from telling her manager that Toback was “vile,” and warning her to note send any women to him again. But she didn’t tell the whole story, she says, to anyone except for two people.

Until now.

Rachel McAdams also shared her horror story in Vanity Fair.

She was a 21-year-old theater student at the time, and she was also auditioning for Harvard Man.

At the time, Rachel McAdams had her first TV job to film early the next day, but she eventually agreed to meet him that night. It could, after all, end up being her big break.

(Remember, this is before Mean Girls or The Notebook)

“Pretty quickly the conversation turned quite sexual and he said, ‘You know, I just have to tell you. I have masturbated countless times today thinking about you since we met at your audition."”

That … is not appropriate in a workplace environment. And yes, an audition or anything audition-related is very much a workplace environment.

Also … gross, dude.

Rachel says that he then had her read to him a number of seemingly unrelated passages — like reviews about his work.

(There’s no telling if he wanted to make sure that she was impressed, or if he … ugh, gets off on that)

“Then he went to the bathroom and left me with some literature to read about him. When he came back he said, ‘I just jerked off in the bathroom thinking about you. Will you show me your pubic hair?’ I said no.”

It sounds like, for whatever reason, Toback was less aggressive with her than he is accused of having been with Selma Blair.

“Eventually, I just excused myself. I can’t remember how long I was there. I felt like I was there forever. This has been such a source of shame for me — that I didn’t have the wherewithal to get up and leave.”

Countless other women didn’t. Few would, in that situation. Society trains us to be polite, innate survival instincts tell us to play along, and the man’s very real power to boost careers added even more complications.

“I kept thinking, ‘This is going to become normal any minute now. This is going to all make sense. This is all above board somehow.’ Eventually I just realized that it wasn’t.”

And Rachel acknowledges how fortunate she was.

“I was very lucky that I left and he didn’t actually physically assault me in any way.”

Even so, no one should have to endure that.

With hundreds of accusers having come forward, there’s no telling how many are keeping silent.

After all, reading a story or a woman who got away or said “no” enough times might actually be discouraging to a woman who did not, rather than liberating.

But it’s so important that women — and men — who have faced this kind of unacceptable sexual harassment and sexual assault continue to come forward so that predators can be dragged out into the light of day.

There can be healthy relationships between people who work in the entertainment, whether they’re casual or romantic. They might even be for personal gain.

They must always be truly consensual, however. Making someone feel cornered or trapped or afraid is a monstrous tactic.

If someone fears for their safety or their career if they say “no,” then it’s not consent.

And, basically, no one should ever do any of the thing that James Toback is accused of having done. Please.

Evan Rachel Wood: This is Why I"ve Never Named My Rapists!

With the very public accusations of Harvey Weinstein raping multiple women and the details of decades of sexual harassment against women working in the film industry, a lot of people are talking about how this happens.

Along with rightful condemnations, there are also people asking why these women — some of whom are quite famous — stayed quiet for so long.

Evan Rachel Wood, herself an actress and also a rape survivor, has made a lengthy video in which she shares her thoughts on why women — herself included — don"t come forward sooner.

In the lengthy but captivating video titled "I"m here to tell you that I"m afraid," Evan Rachel Wood first discusses the politicization of the Harvey Weinstein story and how both sides of the political aisle aren"t helping anyone by trying to make it a political issue.

She"s right — it doesn"t matter what side of the aisle a rapist is on. We should all stand united against that sort of evil.

Then she talks about what makes women so often take so long to report sexual assaults.

"In this case, and in many cases, when women come forward with a story about sexual assault or sexual harassment, people are very quick to try to discredit them or knock them down or look for any sign of foul play or any reason not to believe them."

That is a tragic reality. Everyone plays a volunteer defense attorney.

"I think that some of this comes from trying to protect innocent people from being accused falsely."

Keep in mind that false accusations, though extremely rare in proportion to the number of actual sexual assaults, do occasionally happen.

"But we"ve got to find a way to find a balance, because right now, people are wondering why more women didn"t come forward sooner. And why in a lot of these cases, one woman will come out multiple women will come out and then the floodgates are open."

She explains why that happens.

"People are wondering why women don"t come forward sooner or why they come out in numbers. It"s because it"s safer. They do not feel safe enough to do so. Period."

Safety in numbers, right?

"And I"m guilty of this as well, because I have not named my abusers."

That is totally her choice to make. None of us can decide for her.

"Not because I don"t plan on saying people"s names eventually, but because … to start that process is an emotionally draining, financially draining, really everything-draining thing to do."

That"s sadly true. It"s not uncommon for wealthy rapists to sue their victims into silence. Rape is very difficult to prove in our justice system, sadly, which also means that it"s difficult to prove if you"re sued for slander or defamation for calling someone out on being a sexual predator.

And lawsuits are horribly expensive. You can win a lawsuit and still go bankrupt.

But she says that she"ll do it when she"s ready.

"If you want to know who my perpetrators were, they were very powerful, very rich, very entitled, very narcissistic white men."

That is, unfortunately, not an uncommon profile for sexual predators.

"And I haven"t named my abusers for a number of reasons. One, I"m one person against some very powerful people. Two, money and time and re-traumatizing yourself. To go after the person who assaulted you takes quite a toll. It is a terrifying thing to have to go through."

With members of the public scrutinizing everything you"ve said and done out of what looks like some perverse drive to defend the accused, it sure sounds terrifying.

"Mainly because you"re at risk of not being believed, you career being hurt, you being drained of your finances. Because it costs a lot of money to file a lawsuit and to go to court with somebody. Especially if all that you have is your word against theirs."

Like we said, wealth can be a powerful suit of armor against all sorts of allegations.

"And especially if these are very powerful people. Once again, you"re at the mercy of your abusers. And you"ve kicked a hornet"s nest. And you have a target on your back."

Evan Rachel Wood speaks about how all of this can be discouraging to women who have been raped by less powerful men, too.

"Look at all of the people that have gone free. There is something in society that tells us not to trust women. And there"s something in society that makes us desensitized."

That is a sad, sad reality.

As for why Evan Rachel Wood doesn"t name the men who assaulted her, even though they might prey upon other women?

"I am not ready to go through that and to relive those things."

We absolutely do not blame her. No one can make that decision for a survivor of any kind of assault or abuse.
