Craig Zadan Dies; Beloved TV Producer Was 69
Craig Zadan, a television producer who had been in the news over the past few years for helming NBC’s popular string of live musicals has passed away due to complications from shoulder replacement surgery.
He was 69 years old.
Under their Storyline Entertainment banner (recently renamed Zadan/Meron Productions), Zadan and Neil Meron were responsible for the film versions of Chicago and Hairspray, along with five musical programs for the aforementioned network.
Most recently, they worked to bring Jesus Christ Superstar Live in Concert to the small screen.
This producing tandem was also behind the the drama Smash and produced a trio of Oscar telecasts.
In confirming the sad news, NBC Entertainment Chairman Robert Greenblatt released the following statement on Monday night:
It is with profound sadness that I am announcing the passing of my dear friend and colleague Craig Zadan, who died of complications following shoulder replacement surgery.
On behalf of his life partner, Elwood Hopkins, and his producing partner, Neil Meron, we are stunned that the man behind so many incredible film, theatre, and television productions – several of them joyous musicals – was taken away so suddenly.
Craig’s distinguished career as a passionate and consummate producer is eclipsed only by his genuine love for the thousands of actors, directors, writers, musicians, designers, and technicians he worked with over the years.
His absence will be felt in our hearts and throughout our business.
On Broadway, Zadan producers revivals of How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying and Promises, Promises.
Along with Meron over the years, his collection includes:
Six Academy Awards, five Golden Globes, 17 Emmy Awards, two Peabody Awards, a Grammy Award, six GLAAD Awards, four NAACP Image Awards and two Tony Awards.
The tragic news was met with shock and sadness from those in the entertainment community who either worked with Zadan or had grown to know him well.
“RIP to our friend Craig. He produced Jesus Christ Superstar with us and also produced the Oscars when Common and I sang “Glory” in front of a replica of the Pettus Bridge,” Tweeted John Legendm adding:
“A wonderful producer and a lovely man,” Legend wrote on Twitter.
“Added Kristin Chenoweth, who is pictured above with the producers:
“Annie, The Music Man, Promises, Hairspray… Craig, you were there with me from the beginning. This is a true loss not only for me, but for the world.
“Rest in peace, sweetheart.”
As far as we can tell, Zadan was not married and did not leave behind any children.
But his work and his influence will continue to be felt for years to come.

Jordan Craig: Tristan Thompson USED My Son! I Blame Khloe!
Over the weekend, Tristan Thompson offered feeble proof that he’s a decent father by showing off two of his babies: True and Prince.
Fans weren’t having it, and called it out as a staged photo op, and accused Tristan of using his kids to soften his cheating image.
And Prince’s mother, Jordan Craig, was reportedly not amused. In fact, sources say that she’s royally pissed.
Tristan decided to share a photo featuring him, his 18-month-old son, Prince Oliver, and his 2-month-old daughter, True.
Plenty of people had opinions about it. Prince’s mom was no exception.
HollywoodLife has the scoop on what Tristan’s OG baby mama thinks of his convenient photo op with her son.
“Jordy is taking the high road,” a source and reported friend of Jordy’s reveals.
But taking the high road isn’t the same as having a high opinion.
Jordy, insider dishes, is biting her tongue, “and is not going to throw shade on Tristan publicly.”
But behind closed doors, Jordan Craig is said to have much more negative thoughts.
She’s keeping quiet, the source reveals, “but she’s super pissed about this.”
It’s not that the photo isn’t wholesome. It’s what she believes motivated it that really rubs her the wrong way.
“She feels like he used their son for a publicity stunt,” the insider explains.
That would piss off plenty of parents.
She’s mad, the source says, “and she’s convinced Khloe is to blame.”
Khloe could be a convenient scapegoat for all of Jordan’s anger … since Tristan did start dating Khloe while Jordan was pregnant.
On the other hand, Khloe does come from a family of media-savvy experts.
“Jordy’s happy Tristan’s promised to spend more time with Prince,” the source goes on to reveal.
“But she’s not so happy about Khloe being a part of her son’s life,” the insider explains. “That’s still a very hard pill to swallow.”
Fans and followers who saw Tristan’s photo were also quick to point out that the picture didn’t seem especially genuine.
“I’m sure Khloe made him take this photo,” one wrote on Instagram.
Another commented: “This is so Kris Jenner’s work.”
“SO STAGED,” one said.
“Did you ask his mom if you can be posting her son online,” someone else commented. “Remember she’s not that media hungry type of woman you’re used to.”
Yikes!
There may be other reasons behind Jordan’s alleged displeasure.
For over a year, now, she has taken steps on social media to protect Prince’s privacy.
That means not showing clear shots of his face for ages.
This photo was the first glimpse that most fans have gotten of the adorable little boy.
So the comments that weren’t crying foul about the apparently staged or calculated picture were largely positive ones about how cute those two babies are.
Now, let’s be clear — almost all family photos are staged. That’s how you take a family photo.
Was this picture calculated? Maybe.
Or perhaps, in light of Tristan’s famous wrongdoing, fans and followers are eager to question the motives of any good that he might do or seem to do.
If Tristan had posted this photo without his cheating scandal, Jordan might have been one of very few people whow as annoyed.
But because people struggle to like or trust him, they are ready and eager to see anything that he does as disingenuous.

Craig Mack Dies; Rapper & Diddy Protege Was 46
Sad news out of the music world today, as multiple sources have confirmed that rapper Craig Mack has passed away at the age of 46.
News of Mack’s death was revealed this morning by his friend and producer
“God bless my friend. He was a good friend of mine,” Alvin Toney told the New York Daily News.
If you were a fan of hip-hop in the 1990s, then you’re almost certainly familiar with Mack’s work.
Best known for his 1994 hit “Flava In Ya Ear,” Mack was a protege of Sean “Diddy” Combs in the early days of the mogul’s Bad Boy record label.
Though he was later overshadowed by more successful acts such as the Notorious B.I.G., Mack was considered by many to be one of the most influential rappers of his era, as well as a vital fixture at one of the genre’s most iconic labels.
In one of his earliest TV interviews, Diddy described Mack and Biggie as the bedrock of the Bad Boy Entertainment empire.
“This is my life here,” the producer said, gesturing to both rappers.
Mack left the label in 1995 hoping to strike out on his own but found that he had difficulty scoring a second major hit.
Despite the fractured business partnership, Mack and Diddy remained friends, and Mack even made a cameo in the video for Diddy’s 2002 hit “I Need a Girl Part 1.”
However, Mack was not on hand when Diddy reunited his original Bad Boy crew for an onstage reunion at the 2015 BET Awards.
By that time, Mack had given up on music in favor of seeking spiritual fulfillment at a struggling church in South Carolina.
“Nobody got to understand his story,” Toney said.
“I wanted the world to know the talent he had. It was something I wanted people to enjoy, but it was cut short because he was very religious and wanted to go to church.”
Toney said that during his last conversation with Mack, the rapper revealed that he was struggling with health issues and didn’t expect to live much longer:
“He was prepared for whatever comes, to go home to the Lord,” Toney said.
“He was prepared to do that. He wasn’t scared. He was ready.”
Our thoughts go out to Mack’s family during this difficult time.

Craig Strickland"s Wife Shares Final Texts from Husband, Pays Tribute to Late Singer
As an endless array of people have noted over the past few months on Twitter, 2016 was maybe the worst year in recorded history for celebrity deaths.
It ended with Debbie Reynolds and Carrie Fisher, but it started with Craig Strickland.
The country singer was reported missing in late December of 2015 and his body then turned up days later, a few miles away from where he and a friend had planned to go duck hunting in Ponca City, Oklahoma.
It appears as though Strickland died from drowning after a storm blew through the area and his boat capsized.
Now, a year after his passing, Strickland’s wife has paid tribute to her husband in moving fashion.
Wrote Helen Strickland at the time, shortly after her husband’s corpse was discovered.
“It was truly such a blessing the day we found Craig,” she wrote on Instagram.
“We were finally able to find some kind of peace knowing he was with his Heavenly Father. God showed us then, and continues to show us, that He takes care of his children.
“While the pain is great that we carry, our Lord will carry the burden if we choose to let Him.”
Fast forward 12 months and Helen has returned to social media to share another special message in Craig’s honor.
It’s a screen capture of the final text message exchange between the couple.
“I remember receiving these last texts from him before talking for the last time on the phone,” Helen wrote along with the following photo.
“I’m so thankful God gave me the blessing of getting to say and hear the words ‘I love you’ to/from him just moments before he and Chase got in their 10ft flat bottom boat.”
Helen went on to give thanks to God for helping her through this unspeakable tragedy.
“A year later, I can testify to God’s goodness and the gift of love that He pours out to those in pain,” she added today.
“Sometimes His gifts of love aren’t what we want or expect – for example, our savior Jesus Christ coming as a baby. But in the end, God’s way is always better than what we want for ourselves.
“God is good, and His ways are perfect – I trust that.”
It’s worth noting that a foundation has been set up in Strickland’s honor.

In conclusion, Helen touched on the lessons she has learned from losing her husband.
Losing Craig was not what any of us desired; but as [Randy] told me — when we get sad, we can think of all the ways God will bless others through Craig’s story.
What a wonderful and humbling reminder that God has chosen Craig’s family to help others.
At the closing of this year, I am thankful for God’s gift of life.
And one day, I will be so excited to sit with Craig and our Father in heaven, as we tell Craig about all the opportunities his family had to share the love of Christ with hurting people all over the world because of his testimony. What a gift of love that will be.
May he rest in peace.

Tristan Thompson Welcomes Baby Boy With Jordan Craig
Khloe Kardashian need not worry about what to get boyfriend, Tristan Thompson for Christmas.
His ex-girlfriend, Jordan Craig apparently gave birth to a baby boy on December 12.
Other than that, details are pretty sketchy on the matter because neither parents have yet to address the kid on social media.
Now, if it was Khloe Kardashian who had given birth, the whole world would know about it.
Kris Jenner would have probably live streamed it to movie theaters across the globe.
She would have also found a way to turn in a bigger profit than the likes of Star Wars: Rogue One.
That’s sort of what she does and she does it well.
She needs a new cash cow in the event that Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna are really over. Right?
Well, maybe Kris will not be too fond of Thompson’s alleged bad behavior as a teen.
With Tristan allegedly dumping Jordan for Khloe, there’s probably some animosity between the two women in his life.
Regardless of whether Tristan wants to steer clear of Jordan, they are always going to have a connection because they share a kid together.
Jordan was vocal about her excitement to be a mother on Instagram in the weeks leading up to her giving birth.
“Going to miss my bump..but the best is yet to come!,” she captioned.
While Jordan was getting excited to have the child, Tristan was too busy wearing matching clothes with Khloe Kardashian.
Yeah, they’re totally the type of couple to match clothes.
That said, they do look rather cute together.
Khloe looks very happy.
It’s great that she’s finally moved on from all of the drama with Lamar Odom.
Maybe she’ll wind up with a kid of her own to Tristan soon enough.
We’re sure Kris would be ecstatic at another mini Kardashian being brought into the world.
Let’s be honest, at some point she’s going to have all of the younger generation take over the empire – much like Kylie and Kendall Jenner are already doing.
