Coming off a surprisingly dark premiere, The Big Bang Theory Season 9 Episode 2 most definitely lightened the mood a bit, centering more on laughter than heartbreak.
We opened with Leonard wallowing in misery and then we saw him witness Sheldon kissing Penny.
Wait… WHAT?!? This was a dream sequence, of course, but it very much got our attention.
Sheldon, meanwhile, dealt with his split from Amy by resurrecting Fun with Flags.
It was almost as if he was in denial about their break-up, all the way up to the point where she refused to take on her typical role of YouTube sidekick.
Once he did come to this realization, however? Sheldon basically had a nuclear meltdown, highlighted by saying there was nothing Amy could offer him that he couldn’t get from his own right hand.
Elsewhere, we learned that Leonard had actually told Howard about the infamous kiss and that he had then told Bernadette. So the couple had been keeping this major secret from Penny for two years.
Leonard knew he needed a marriage counselor, but also knew he could not afford one. So he dumped all his problems on Mandy… all while Raj and Howard hung out in the background and made marine-themed sexual puns.
Because of course they did.
In the end, though, all it took was a serious conversation between Leonard and Penny for each to admit they were afraid of losing the other and… presto! All was good and they were off to the bedroom.
This was a somewhat quick, anti-climactic resolution to their legitimate marital woes.
