After three years of separation, it looks as though the long-pending Khloe Kardashian-Lamar Odom divorce is finally a done deal.
According to Us Weekly, Khloe and Lamar signed an agreement on December 9 to legally end their marriage.
The document is now being processed, and it’s expected that Khloe will officially become a single woman on December 17.
“They’re relieved it’s over and ready to move on with their lives,” an insider tells Us.
It seems the last remaining sticking points Khloe’s share in the DASH fashion boutique chain and Lamar’s NBA retirement package.
DASH is apparently considered a marital asset, as Khloe first got involved with the company while she was married, and sources say ex-wives of NBA players are usually entitled to a cut of their former husbands’ 401(k).
Not surprisingly, Khloe waived that right (she’s got plenty of cash of her own), and Lamar agreed to give up any claim to DASH’s profits.
So it sounds like in the end, an amicable deal was reached, which is no surprise, considering how close Khloe and Lamar have remained in the years since they called it quits on their marriage.
In fact, their divorce took so long to become finalized largely due to their lingering mutual affection.
The former couple was reportedly close to reaching deal last year, but held off on finalizing their split after Lamar suffered a near-fatal overdose in a Nevada brothel.
There were rumors that Khloe and Lamar planned to get back together after he emerged from his coma, but it now seems that Khloe simply postponed the divorce so that she would be in a legal situation to help ensure that Lamar received the best possible care.
Khloe and Lamar have effectively been broken up since December 13, 2013, when she fled for divorce.
During that time, they’ve come and gone from one another’s lives, but even during times when they had contact for long periods of time, they reportedly never spoke ill one another.
Their marriage may not have lasted, and their divorce dragged on entirely too long, but in the end, these two serve as an object lesson in how to break up with dignity and mutual respect.
These days, Khloe is dating Tristan Thompson of the Cleveland Cavaliers, but insiders say she remains close with Lamar and continues to wish him the best.
