The Voice Finale Recap: It All Comes Down to THIS!

Season 11 of The Voice, arguably one of the best in reality TV history, has all come down to this as just four singers remain in the hunt.

Who will win, Billy Gilman (Team Adam), Sundance Head (Team Blake), Wé McDonald (Team Alicia) or Josh Gallagher (Team Adam)?

If Sundance can get it done, which is very possible, it would be the fifth title for Blake; Adam’s two singers give him a chance at a fourth.

Alicia Keys looks to join the pantheon of one-time winners Usher, Pharrell and Christina, while Miley Cyrus … will have to wait a year.

Anyway, let’s break down the top four performances!

Billy Gilman

All of the competitors had three performances on finale night, with one of those being a duet with their coach. Billy’s first performance was “My Way” by Frank Sinatra. The first performance was fantastic. If Billy proved anything it was that he definitely deserved to be there on finale night. I’m surprised they didn’t just announce Billy was taking the title there and then. It was THAT good.

His second performance was a duet with Adam Levine of “Bye Bye Love” by the Everly Brothers. It was a decent performance, but it was clear Billy performed much better on his own.

Billy’s final song was “Because of Me” by Maroon 5. Yeah, Adam Levine plugged his track with Billy on this one. It was a solid performance in which Billy hit all the high notes.

Josh Gallagher

Josh opted to sing “Pick Any Small Town” by himself and Nolan Neal as his opening song. You’d think with it being his own song, he would have perfected all the notes. Nuh-uh. It was a surprisingly flat performance that was missing the auto tune.

Josh and Adam Levine then performed “Smooth” by Rob Thomas and Santana. It was better than the first performance for Josh, but it still left a lot to be desired.

The final song on the menu for Josh was “Jack & Diane” by John Mellencamp. Out of the three, this was his best performance of the night. Unlike Billy, it’s clear Josh kept the best for last, but I just don’t see him making the cut to win the whole thing.

Wé McDonald

Wé McDonald started things off with a duet with mentor, Alicia Keyes. They performed “Ave Maria” by Stevie Wonder. At this stage of the game, you expect show stoppers, but this one was just mediocre.

Her next song was “Wishes” by Harold Lilly. When you have a song written specifically for you, you need to own it, and boy, Wé owned it.

Wé went with “Don’t Rain On My Parade” by Barbra Streisand. It was her best performance and proved that she does deserve her spot here.

Sundance Head

Sundance went with “Darlin’ Don’t Go” by himself. It was a stellar performance and a great song to show off his talent.

Sundance then sung “Treat Her Right!” by Roy Head and the Traits with Blake Shelton. It was another great performance. The pair each have voices that compliment the other and it paid off.

Sundance went out with “At Last” by Etta James. It was an awesome performance. It’s definitely going to be a tough call between Billy Gilman and Sundance Head.

What did you think of the performances?
