Grammy Viewers Ask, Attack: Where the Heck Was Lorde Last Night?!?
Lorde was very clearly snubbed at the Grammy Awards on Sunday night.
Not in terms of nominations; the singer was actually up for Album of the Year, arguably the highest honor of the entire ceremony.
But that’s the entire problem.
Confused? Allow us to explain…
Lorde was the only female to be nominated for Album of the Year at this year’s ceremony, as she was joined in the category by Childish Gambino, JAY-Z, Kendrick Lamar and Bruno Mars.
Impressive feat, right? Absolutely.
However, it was somewhat marred by the strange fact that Lorde was the only member of this illustrious group NOT to be asked to perform at the Grammys.
According to Entertainment Tonight, Lorde was approached by producers to take part in a Tom Petty tribute performance at one point during the event…
… but she declined out of protest.
It’s hard to blame her, isn’t it?
What possible reason would the Grammy Awards have for asking only men to take the stage?
Aside from the obvious reason of sexism, that is?
This oversight was made even more obvious (and unfortunate) by the ongoing #MeToo movement and the ongoing focus on how men are treated differently than women in the entertainment industry.
Late last week, a few days prior to the Grammys, Lorde’s mother sent out a cryptic message that clearly related to this snub.
Highlighting a portion of a New York Times article about gender equality in the music industry, she wrote “This says it all.”
CBS viewers subsequently tweeted their outrage on Sunday as they watched other artists and host James Corden soak up airtime in place of Lorde.
Following the show, Recording Academy President Neil Portnow even responded to a question from the press about Lorde’s absence from the roster of performances.
This was not an oversight that went unnoticed.
“We can’t have a performance from every nominee,” he said without addressing any singer by name or indicating whether Lorde was invited to perform.
He added:
“We have to create [a show] that has balance… and what you saw was our best judgment on how to do that.”
As you can see above, however, this answer didn’t sit well with viewers.
Especially in light of Sting, who isn’t exactly relevant these days in the music game, being featured in two separate segments for some reason.
They found time for that, but not any time to recognize Lorde?!?
Not cool, Grammys. Not cool at all.
At least we’ll always have Lorde’s memorable VMAs performance to replay over and over.
But still: this was very lame.
Rihanna: Fans Convinced She"s Pregnant After Last Night"s Grammy Performance!
A definite bright spot from last night’s Grammy Awards was Rihanna’s performance of “Wild Thoughts,” right?
Then again, Rihanna’s mere presence at any event could always be considered a bright spot.
Our girl went up there and performed “Wild Thoughts” with DJ Khaled, Bryson Tiller, and a bunch of dancers, and she killed it, as usual.
She looked amazing, the performance was amazing … everything was amazing.
But hey, remember last year when Rihanna stepped out looking a little fuller figured and everyone was absolutely positive she was pregnant?
Yeah, that’s happening again.
Her figure — which, to be clear, is just incredible — wasn’t the only thing that got people talking though.
It was mostly her performance.
From the dress she wore to the low lighting to the way she sort of stayed behind the dancers, she just gave out that “I’m pregnant and hiding it but also performing live on national television” vibe, you know?
Oh, you don’t know? You’re still a little iffy on the state of Rihanna’s womb?
Here, let Twitter explain it to you …
“Rihanna is pregnant,” one person insisted. “Her face full and she’s glowing crazy.”
Another person tweeted “I told y’all Beyonce was pregnant the minute she got on the stage at Roseland. I never get this wrong. Rihanna is with child.”
Some people just have that gift, you know?
If you need another argument, someone else wrote “LMFAOO Idc what nobody says, Rihanna is pregnant lmao Her titties are HUGE. Y’all talking about ‘nah she just thick’ Okay but most thick bitches have little titties.”
How do you argue with logic like that?!
Others just assumed that she’s definitely pregnant, like this kind soul that tweeted “Why are they stressing Rihanna on that stage with all that dancing? She’s obviously pregnant, carrying a billionaire’s child too.”
It’s true — she’s been dating Hassan Jameel for a while now, and he is super, super rich. Like, crazy rich.
Several reports have said that their relationship is very serious as well. Perhaps so serious that they’d have a child together?!
Speaking of potential baby daddies, one person had a great point with “If Rihanna really pregnant DRAKE FANS REJOICE. WE ABOUT TO GET A TWO DISC JOURNEY.”
Poor Drake. Hasn’t he been through enough?
Sadly, others weren’t as excited and kind about the rumors. There are quite a few tweets speculating about Rihanna’s eating habits and calling her fat, which is not OK and really very wrong.
To those people, one valuable Twitter user wrote “So help me Yeezus if I see any Rihanna pregnant/weight tweets. She looks SO HOT and you should lick a Tide Pod if you spread that kind of hate.”
Topical AND fair.
But it’s hard not to get pumped about the idea of international treasure Rihanna having a baby, right?
As one person put it, “I hope Rihanna is pregnant. That would make me so happy cus she really found the man she loves and wants to have a family with. That and baby Fenty would be chillin with Sir and Rumi.”

Grammy Awards: Who Got Totally Snubbed?!?
The Grammy Awards will be held on January 28, 2018 in New York City.
Based on the nominations, we can look forward to a big night for Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z, among other major artists.
But which singers and songs did NOT get nominated? Which were the most glaring snubs and surprises?
Good question! Let"s analyze, scrutinize and complain down below…
1. Sheeran an Also-Ran?
Ed Sheeran’s album, ÷ (Divide), was one of the biggest albums of the year. Heck his “Shape of You,” was one of the streamed song of all time on Spotify. Still, the 26-year-old crooner only received two GRAMMY nominations and neither were in the top categories.
2. Look What the Grammys Made Taylor Swift Feel Like
Sheeran’s good friend woke up unhappy as well. Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” song was the only single off her new album that was eligible for a nomination… and it received none.
3. First, Selena Left Him for Justin…
… then, The Weeknd only got nominated for Urban Contemporary Album for his popular album Starboy.
4. No Love for Lovato
We loved Demi Lovato’s “Tell Me You Love Me” album. But the Grammy voters did not. Zero nominations!
5. Or for Harry!
They may find him handsome, but voters didn’t show any love for Harry Styles’ solo album, either.
6. The Hunt for… Hunt
Sam Hunt’s “Body Like a Back Road” set a record for most weeks atop the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. But it coudn’t earn a nod outside of a country category.

Twenty One Pilots Win Grammy, Take Off Pants
Adele and Beyonce may have dominated the Grammy Awards on Sunday evening.
But while one of these singers swept the show"s three biggest categories, and the other performed while pregnant with twins, neither took her pants off on stage.
So neither were able to match the antics of Twenty One Pilots.
But while Josh Dun and Tyler Joseph did, indeed, strip halfway down upon accepting the trophy for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, they didn"t do it just to make headlines.
Nor did they do it as a joke or a lark or simply to make folks laugh.
Joseph explained on stage that there was actually a sentimental reason behind why he and Dun were standing before millions of viewers in their underwear.
"This story starts in Columbus, Ohio, and it was a few years ago," Joseph said in his speech. "It was before Josh and I were able to make money playing music."
The friends were at home, watching the Grammys with some other pals, and…
"As we were watching, we noticed that every single one of us was in our underwear. Josh turned to me and said, "If we ever win a Grammy, we should receive it just like this."
So there you have it.
Pretty cool, huh?
"Not only is this amazing, but I want everybody who"s watching at home to know that they could be next," he concluded.
