Ed Sheeran and Cherry Seaborn: Engaged!
Great news for Ed Sheeran!
And also for everyone who loves to listen to a good Ed Sheeran love song, too …
He’s getting married!!!
Yep, just earlier this morning, Ed hopped on his Instagram to announce the big news: he’d proposed to his girlfriend, Cherry Seaborn!
He shared that sweet photo of the two of them together, and for the caption, he wrote “Got myself a fiancé just before new year. We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well xx.”
Adorable, right?!
And it only gets better …
We don’t know any additional details about their engagement or their upcoming wedding at this point, but over the course of their relationship, Ed has shared some stories about Cherry.
In an interview last year, he revealed how they began dating back in the summer of 2015.
“I’ve known Cherry since I was 11,” he explained then.
At the time, she worked on Wall Street, and he had a series of shows in New York, so they got together then and “reconnected.”
After that, he said that he went back on tour, but they stayed in touch through text messages.
A couple of months later, in July, he was at Taylor Swift’s annual Independence Day bash at her home in Rhode Island, and amazingly enough, Cherry was at a different party in Rhode Island at the very same time.
“I kinda said to Taylor, ‘Can I invite one of my old schoolmates?’ The rest is history,” he recounted.
If you’ve got a good memory for gossip, there’s a good chance you remember this.
Shortly after Taylor’s party, Ed was seen with Cherry, and it was pretty obvious even then that he’d already fallen for her.
Like, their relationship has been so adorable that last year, many people were convinced that they’d secretly gotten married at some point.
Another note of loveliness in their relationship?
A few months ago when Ed discussed his battle with substance abuse, he credited Cherry for helping him get healthier again.
About the substance abuse, he said “I didn’t really notice it was happening. It just started gradually happening, and then some people took me to one side and were like, ‘Calm yourself down."”
One of those people, it seems safe to say, was likely Cherry.
In that same interview, he said that moving in with her “was a real help grounding me.”
“I was a 25-year-old in the music industry on tour so I just needed someone to balance me out.”
To her credit, it looks like they’ve balanced each other beautifully.
Congrats, you two!

Taylor Swift Releases "Endgame" Music Video, Featuring Ed Sheeran & Future!
Taylor Swift"s "Endgame" music video quietly dropped, folks! It features partying, drinking, dancing, and more drinking.
Oh, and some hefty appearances by Ed Sheeran and Future. Check it out below!
Taylor Swift was tremendously popular, even a decade ago. But, for a while, she was a very niche celebrity. Not only was she a hopeless romantic, her music was primarily of the Country variety.
That changed with her 2014 album, 1989. And those of us who weren"t already became obsessed with the undeniably pleasant music of one Ms. Swift.
For more than a year, Taylor Swift was sailing high above the clouds. Everyone wanted to be on her side and no one wanted to cross her.
Until, in 2016, she broke up with underwear model and DJ Calvin Harris. After it was revealed that she had written (and even performed some uncredited vocals in) his biggest hit song, he lashed out at her on Twitter, referencing her feud with Katy. A number of people, fatigued with Taylor"s overexposure in the media, began to turn on her.
And that was when Kim Kardashian struck, releasing a series of months old, edited videos of a conversation between Taylor and Kanye that appeared to frame Taylor Swift as dishonest or "playing the victim."
What"s important to remember about the fued-related songs on Taylor Swift"s Reputation album is that … they"re not really part of the feud.
These songs aren"t weapons designed to hurt Kim Kardashian.
And we don"t know how someone would go about "hurting" Kanye with music.
She slams Kanye with her music, but the guy basically lives on his own private planet.
Taylor"s purpose — in addition to telling her story — is much more practical.
You know they say that success is the best revenge? Well, Taylor Swift is really good at revenge.
Reputation was the top-selling album of 2017. Because of course it was.
Taylor"s success is taking everything that Kim threw at her in 2016 and singing about it for heaps of cold, hard cash. Several of the songs directly reference the feud.
Kim, though she"s never had trouble being wealthy and is arguably a master at turning bad press into a financial gain, won"t find it so easy to directly monetize her side of the feud.
Unless she, like, comes out with some kind of fragrance line called "Snake Repellant" or whatever.
Based on what Taylor put into her "Endgame" music video, you"d think that she"d taken to drinking to cope with her epic feud and the resulting fallout.
Of course, the music video just shows her at a bunch of parties, where drinking is pretty standard. So there"s that.
Taylor"s big guns for the music video are her guest stars.
Remember when Reputation came out, and people were like "wait, did she just get Ed Sheeran to rap?"
That was this song. Long the original track, this music video features both Ed Sheeran and Future.
Overall, this video is less powerful than "Look What You Made Me Do" or the high-ish concept video fro "Are You Ready For It."
And, in my opinion, so is the song. (My bestie likes "Endgame" a lot, though)
Some of us prefer the videos with stunning visuals to the ones with drinking and partying. We can all drink and party, even if we can"t do it with quite Taylor"s budget.
You know what music videos we"d really like to see from Taylor? "This Is Why We Can"t Have Nice Things" and "Getaway Car." Those were two of the best songs on the whole dang album and don"t get the attention that they deserve.
A nice music video or two could change that.

Ed Sheeran Quits Twitter Following Game of Thrones Backlash
If you watched the Game of Thrones Season 7 premiere on Sunday night, then you may have found yourself mildly repulsed at a scene that seemed to come straight out of left field.
No, we"re not talking about the weird Citadel montage with the match-cuts between bowls of stew and full chamber pots (although, seriously: ew.)
We"re talking about Ed Sheeran"s cameo as a soldier who croons "Hands of Gold," a song featuring lyrics that may offer some important hints about what"s to come.
GoT fans didn"t love Sheeran"s cameo, and with good reason.
The stunt-casting amounted to a major misstep by showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, perhaps their biggest to date.
Sheeran"s appearance distracted from the events of the scene, and tonally, his appearance felt out of step not only with the rest of the episode, but with the rest of the series.
The blame rests with Weiss and Benioff, not Sheeran, but nevertheless, the singer was the butt of a good number of jokes on Twitter.
The unwanted attention was such that the 26-year-old deleted his account.
Check out some of the most viral burns in the gallery below and watch Game of Thrones online to relive Sheeran"s ill-advised cameo.

Ed Sheeran: This is Why I Left Twitter!
Ed Sheeran’s great music speaks for itself, but did you know that he’s also too precious and sensitive for this world?
Well, too much for Twitter, anyway.
He says that he’s done with the social media platform … because people are being too mean.
“I’ve actually come off Twitter completely. I can’t read it.”
Ed Sheeran explains that he quit Twitter because he couldn’t stand the vile comments anymore.
“I go on it and there’s nothing but people saying mean things.”
He’s probably not talking about the quasi-universal experience of going on Twitter and getting the occasional bit of hate.
He’s a celebrity, so he’s not talking about the occasional nasty tweet about a political event.
For someone of Ed Sheeran’s level of fame, we’re talking about endless vitriol because countless people tweet at him on a daily basis.
So a chunk of that is going to be hateful, and if he keeps checking his mentions, he’s going to see a lot of nasty things.
“The head-f–k for me has been trying to work out why people dislike me so much.”
The thing is that people probably don’t dislike him.
So if someone tweets that, like, “he looks like pubes” or whatever, they’re probably just joking about him because he’s a celebrity and they don’t really expect him to see it.
A bigger factor, of course, is trolls.
Trolls love to get a negative reaction because it makes them feel better about themselves.
So of course they’d love to hear that they really get under his skin.
And it sounds like it absolutely does.
“One comment ruins your day.”
That’s kind of interesting, considering the optimistic image that he projects.
Taylor Swift herself has talked about his unfailing innocence:
She said that Sheeran is: “protected by an impenetrable and ever-present armor of enthusiasm that has helped him endure any setback, letdown or underestimation.”
But Twitter can wear you down.
Not because of anything inherent to Twitter except that it connects people.
It’s people who can wear you down.
Give them a hint of anonymity and a connection to someone famous and they’ll just go off.
To be clear, there are absolutely countermeasures that people can take if they’re being bullied online.
And we don’t mean “just getting off of the internet.”
If drivers on the road are unsafe, you can’t just advise people to “get off the road.”
They need to go on the road to live their lives.
The same is true of using the internet.
For a lot of more sensitive celebs, avoiding seeing hate just means not checking their mentions.
Non-celebrities can always just lock their accounts.
Actually, Olivia Newton-John’s daughter Chloe Lattanzi’s locked her account on Instagram.
So celebs can do it, too, though most wouldn’t take that option.
Then there’s always the option of having an assistant tweet on your behalf as if it were you.
But while there’s no real way of knowing exactly how many stars tweet for themselves, it’s pretty clear that they need PR skills and thick skin to be successful on Twitter.
Not everybody gets to be Chrissy Teigen. Sadly.
Now, Ed Sheeran’s social media accounts aren’t going to vanish into the night or whatever.
His Instagram account will keep automatically generating tweets.
That’s kind of an extreme move, and you can’t help but feel sorry that he felt that it was necessary.
Kind of makes you wonder what happened with Melania Trump’s vow to combat cyberbullying, huh?
