Kesha Accuses Dr. Luke of Raping Katy Perry
A new and very disturbing allegation has been leveled against music producer Dr. Luke.
To be more accurate, the allegation itself is not new.
But it has only just now been made public, and it has the music industry reeling in many different directions.
Allow us to explain…
The Blast has obtained legal documents that allege Kesha told Lady Gaga via text message in 2016 that Dr. Luke had raped both herself… and Katy Perry.
The first accusation listed above has been documented several times in the past.
Kesha claimed back in 2014 that Dr. Luke assaulted her and harassed her throughout their professional relationship and she has since filed a lawsuit against the infamous producer.
On May 31, however, Luke’s attorney filed papers that include the following sections:
On Feb. 26, 2016, [Kesha] sent a text message to Stefani Germanotta p/k/a Lady Gaga which repeated [Kesha’s] false claim that Gottwald had raped her.
In this text message, [Kesha] also falsely asserted that Gottwald had also raped Kathryn Hudson p/k/a Katy Perry.
Following this text message conversation, and with [Kesha’s] encouragement, Ms. Germanotta spread negative messages about Gottwald in the press and on social media.
For example, in February 2016, Ms. Germanotta posted multiple articles discussing defendant defamatory statements on her Twitter page.
To be clear, as mentioned above, it is Dr. Luke’s own attorney who included these text message excerpts in his court filing.
He is claiming that Kesha has defamed his client and is denying her accusations about both her rape and the rape of Perry by Dr. Luke.
We reported last August that Lady Gaga had agreed to submit unedited text exchanges she had with Kesha to the court in an attempt to assist Kesha with her lawsuit against Dr. Luke.
In addition to co-producing Kesha’s breakout hits “TiK ToK” and “We R Who We R,” the producer also worked on a number of Perry singles, including “I Kissed a Girl,” “Teenage Dream” and “Roar.”
There’s no debate here that he knows Perry well.
But there’s obviously a very big difference between knowing her well and assaulting her in the manner Kesha has reportedly described to her friends.
No one from Kesha, Lady Gaga or Katy Perry’s camps have commented on this story.
In a New York Times feature published a year ago, Perry simply said “I had to leave the nest” when asked why she stopped working with Dr. Luke.
Dr. Luke alleges he lost out on over $ 10 million that he would have made for working on various Perry’s albums… and thinks Kesha’s allegations damaged his reputation and led to his split from the American Idol judge.
The documents published by The Blast also reveal that Perry has been deposed as part of Kesha’s lawsuit, but they do not give details to what was said.
Luke, meanwhile, has strongly denied all allegations of assault and abuse by Kesha.
He has countersued the singer for breach of contract and defamation.
In February of 2016, Dr. Luke tweeted:
“I didn’t rape Kesha and I have never had sex with her. Kesha and I were friends for many years and she was like my little sister.”
Two years after he made this statement, Kesha stole the show at the 2018 Grammy Awards when she performed her empowerment anthem “Praying” in support of the Time’s Up movement with a choir comprised of Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Julia Michaels, Andra Day and Bebe Rexha.

Kesha Dominates the Grammy"s with "Praying" Performance!
Even if you didn"t watch to see who won and who lost at the 2018 Grammy Awards, you"ve no doubt heard that Kesha was robbed. (And so was Lorde, who wasn"t even asked to perform. And so was Lady Gaga)
But she still stole the show with a knockout performance of her ballad, "Praying," which is the ultimate #TimesUp anthem.
As you"ll see in the video below, Kesha didn"t perform this jaw-dropping number alone.
Kesha"s powerful ballad, "Praying," tells a deeply personal story.
We"ve all followed the story of Kesha"s lawsuits against Dr. Luke, the producer whose alleged abuse of her lasted for years and years. Among other things, she accuses him of having drugged and raped her.
It"s a grim tale, and her legal struggle for professional independence has been hard-fought and seen some serious setbacks. And it"s not over yet.
But though Kesha"s story is very specific to her, we"ve all heard #MeToo stories. We can only imagine how many people can strongly relate to this song"s lyrics.
Which makes it a perfect and powerful anthem for #TimesUp.
And so Kesha didn"t perform "Praying" alone at the Grammy"s. She was accompanied by Cyndi Lauper, Camila Cabello, Julia Michaels, Bebe Rexha, and Andra Day.
That"s quite the line-up.
In fact, before they even began to sing, they were introduced by the incomparable Janelle Monae (whose current aesthetic, a sort of afrofuturism blended with a non-racist reimagining of the classic film Metropolis, is complex enough to fill volumes).
"Tonight I am proud to stand in solidarity as just not an artist but a young women with my fellow sisters who make up the music industry: artists, writers, assistants, publicists, CEO, producers, engineers, and women from all sectors of the business."
And, of course, the women of the entertainment industry are more than just their jobs.
"We are also daughters, wives, mothers, sisters, and human beings."
"We come in peace but we mean business," Janelle continues.
"And to those who would dare try to silence us. We offer two words: Time’s up."
Yes.
"We say time’s up for pay inequality. Time’s up for discrimination. Time’s up for harassment of any kind. And time’s up for the abuse of power because you see it’s not just going on in Hollywood, it’s not just going on in Washington, it’s right here in our industry."
Good to mention that it happens so much in politics.
"And just as we have the power to shape culture, we also have the power to undo the culture that doesn’t serve us well. So let’s work together."
Janelle continues:
"Women and men as a united music industry committed to creating safe work environments, equal pay, and access for all women."
We have to get rid of the gender pay gap in all sectors of industry.
"And as artists so often do our next performer embodies the great tradition of delivering important social messages."
Anyone who tells you that music should be separate from politics (like Nikki Haley whining about Hillary Clinton"s Fire & Fury Grammy"s sketch)
"This fearless two time Grammy nominee inspires so many of us, including myself when she spoke her truth on her album Rainbow, which is nominated for best pop vocal album tonight."
Gotta be honest, folks — I woke up with "Praying" stuck in my head, but that happens at least once a week, minimum.
Like we said, Kesha was robbed. (Lorde, in the mean time, was nominated for best album and yet was the only nominee in that category to not be invited to perform … which is absurd)
But she didn"t make her performance about her. She even avoided her epic high note, for which "Praying" is so famous. She"s a team player, folks.
Watch Kesha"s powerful performance. Like us, you might have this song on repeat for most of your day.

Kesha: Bares Her Glittery Butt on Stage!
Kesha has been going through a huge legal battle, but that pales beside the tremendous emotional toll that she’s experienced after years of alleged abuse and reliving the trauma by coming forward. That can change you.
But though Kesha’s musical style has changed since her “Tik Tok” days, she’s still fun, spontaneous, and an absolute gift to her fans.
And she’s baring her butt to prove it.
Back in, like, 2008, Kesha surged to popularity with Animal.
For the next few years, “Tik Tok” was basically required listening at most parties, and Kesha music has been a party staple ever since.
Basically, if you’ve been to a party that didn’t play Kesha’s music, we hope that you brought the birthday boy a nice present — they’ll only turn 7 once.
Back in February of 2016, however, Kesha gained attention for something very different when a judge’s ruling prompted her to sob openly in court.
Though Kesha’s alleged sex abuse at the hands of Dr. Luke had been revealed years ago, most of the world had been unaware of her legal struggle to separate herself from the infamous music producer.
Celebrities tweeted their support — Taylor Swift sent a check, actually.
Singers like Adele used their platforms to voice their support for Kesha and for her bid for independence from the man whom she accuses of having abused her for a decade.
In addition to those voicing support for Kesha, other singers who have worked with Dr. Luke have spoken out to condemn him, based purely upon their own experiences.
Pink condemned Dr. Luke, saying that though she can’t speak to the veracity of Kesha’s accusations, Dr. Luke deserves what he’s getting because he’s a scumbag.
Kelly Clarkson slammed Dr. Luke, saying that he’s not a good person. When Kelly Clarkson, who doesn’t like to bash people, is talking about you like this, something is up.
Contract law isn’t built on justice, however.
Even though this entire situation has been a PR nightmare for Sony, it’s appeared that their hands are tied.
And Kesha’s fight has remained uphill.
In fact, Kesha had to withdraw her lawsuit in California. In New York, however, the battle rages on.
Kesha, however, is finally getting to tour again — and when Kesha tours, there’s more to the performance than just her beautiful music.
Just look at this photo that Kesha shared on Friday.
She captioned the image as “GlitterButt!!!” when she tweeted it out.
That is just so cute.
After everything that Kesha’s been through, it’s so heartwarming to see her feeling comfortable with her body and her fans — to see her both experiencing and spreading joy.
Kesha has been personally throwing glitter on her audience, which is a blessing.
A blessing that doesn’t fade. Two friends of mine saw Kesha when she came to town, and both were talking the next day about glitter following them to work despite their best efforts (and showers).
One, who works at a doggie daycare, ended up inadvertently spreading glitter to the dogs. Harmlessly, of course.
The other, an accountant, accidentally bedazzled her office chair.
But that goes with the territory. Nobody’s going to actually complain about having glitter thrown on them by Kesha herself.
And we’re guessing that fans aren’t going to complain about getting mooned by Kesha, either.
We haven’t felt this encouraged about Kesha since she released “Praying” as a single.
That song was a not-so-subtle reference to her horrible experiences at the hands of Dr. Luke, but it’s a powerful anthem.
And her whole album is out, of course.
Kesha is, as always, a gift.

Kesha: Is She Pregnant?!
Let’s be real: everyone loves a good pregnancy scandal.
They’re just always so intriguing because the stakes are high, the drama last for months, and at the end of it all there’s a precious little baby!
Pregnancy scandals can come in many forms, and we’ve been seeing several of them recently.
There’s Kailyn Lowry of Teen Mom 2 who is dealing with a boatload of baby daddy drama, and there’s Jennifer Aniston who is (and has been for years) dealing with some “is she or isn’t she?” nonsense.
And thanks to appearance at last night’s MTV Video Music Awards, there’s another celebrity following in Jennifer Aniston’s “IS THAT A BABY BUMP?!?!” footsteps.
And that celebrity is none other than Kesha!
Our darling Kesha rolled up to the VMAs in a great big dress that was very poofy with lots of layers, and that dress alone got people talking.
Because hey, what’s she trying to hide, right?
A baby bump, that’s what!
More clues to a possible pregnancy include the fact that her face looked a little fuller than it normally does.
Also, her boobs looked great, so there’s that.
Then, if you can even believe it, Kesha made the most obvious of pregnant lady moves …
When she hopped up on stage to make a moving speech introducing Logic’s performance of “1-800-273-8255” (the suicide prevention hotline, if you didn’t know), she actually dared to place her hand on her stomach.
Here, just check out her stance, which may as well be a pregnancy announcement all on its own:
Throw all those things together, and you’ll see why so many people spent last night and this morning on Twitter, trying to uncover the secrets of Kesha’s uterus.
“Is Kesha pregnant?” one person asked. “Her face looks slightly different and she was holding her belly the whole time.”
Another person asked the same question and added “I’m being dead serious. I googled it and some news sources are saying so and the pics look very pregnant.”
Because everyone knows by now that if you see something on Google, it must be true!
On Twitter user wrote “That dress Kesha is wearing is confusing me, it looks like she’s pregnant and trying to hide it behind ruffles.”
Some people went so far as to just confirm the rumors, like this person who tweeted “Kesha is wearing that dress to hids she’s pregnant, you heard it from me first sisters.”
But OK, look, let’s slow down for just a minute here.
What is actually more likely: that Kesha is actually pregnant, or that she simply gained a little weight?
If you look back at photos of this girl from the past year or so, you’d see that she has in fact put on some pounds — which is great, by the way.
Remember, she’s been open about how she’s suffered from eating disorders and how she starved herself earlier in her career to better fit the image that was expected of her.
In a letter she wrote to her younger self earlier this month, she revealed that her battle with anorexia and bulimia nearly killed her.
So if she’s gained weight, that means she’s healing, and what better news could there possibly be?
Sure, she could be pregnant, we suppose, and that would be wonderful too.
But for now, let’s stop speculating about her figure and her weight and just be proud of her for how far she’s come.

Kesha, I Doubted I Could Come Back With "Rainbow"

Kesha Tweets Out Support for Taylor Swift: Truth is Always the Answer!
Ever since Kesha released “Praying” and awed the world with her dazzling vocals, we’ve been rejoicing at her return to music.
(Her whole album, Rainbow, is out now in case you haven’t listened to it yet)
But Kesha’s doing more than music, these days — and is reaching out to Taylor Swift for the best possible reason.
Kesha’s accusations against the songwriter and record producer known as Dr. Luke (real name Lukasz Sebastian Gottwald) are very well known.
She waged a legal battle in an attempt to break away from him so that she could make music that wasn’t under his supervision.
The reason that she wanted to get away? Ten years of alleged mental abuse, physical abuse, and sexual abuse at his hands.
Tragically, the court ruled against Kesha, refusing to set her free of her contract, which effectively put her career in limbo.
It’s sort of unclear, at the moment, what ties — if any — Dr. Luke has to Kesha’s current music and the proceeds from it.
Nobody thinks that Kesha might be working with him, of course.
While our woefully inept legal system might not be equipped to hold Dr. Luke accountable, he was effectively tried and convicted in the court of public opinion.
Like, everybody hates Dr. Luke. And nobody kept their opinion quiet, either.
You had Adele speaking out about him. You had Taylor Swift sending Kesha’s legal fund a quarter of a million dollars.
Sony, the company involved in all of this, was absolutely horrified. Reports said that Sony was searching for a legal way to terminate their own ties with Dr. Luke.
But it’s Taylor Swift’s silent but powerful contribution to Kesha’s cause that we want to talk about.
Because while Taylor Swift may not have suffered to the degree of what Kesha describes for a decade, Taylor Swift has been embroiled in a recent legal battle.
And that battle has been over her own sexual assault.
Taylor Swift accused a radio DJ named David Mueller of groping her back in 2015.
Specifically, Mueller allegedly slid his hand up and grabbed Taylor’s bare butt, leaving her too stunned by the grope to immediately respond.
(That sort of “freezing up in shock” response is pretty common in response to a lot of sexual assaults)
Do worse things happen every single day? Absolutely.
Is crime relative? Is evil relative? No.
You don’t get a pass for stealing a car just because somebody else stole a person, and you don’t get a pass on grabbing somebody’s butt without permission just because someone else spent a decade under the thumb of a controlling abuser.
Mueller lost his job after Taylor went public with her accusation, and he then tried to sue her over it.
A judge tossed out the suit against Taylor Swift just last week, which was widely celebrated even by the people who’ve forsaken Taylor Swift in recent years.
Taylor Swift still has a court date today, however, for her own countersuit against Mueller.
And this is where Kesha comes in:
Kesha, whose star is once again on the rise, tweeted out her support to Taylor just a few hours ago:
“@taylorswift13 i support you always, and especially right now and admire your strength and fearlessness. truth is always the answer.”
That’s beautifully said and also publicly said.
While hopefully Taylor’s case shouldn’t need any help, every voice raised up against things that are awful — whether it’s sexual assault or the terrifying white nationalist rally over the weekend — helps.
Every good voice matters.
Speaking of Kesha’s good voice, by the way … have you heard her album yet?
She released Rainbow on Friday and it soared to the #1 spot (where it remains).
As much as we loved Kesha’s dancier club trash music from 2009 (and we really, truly love a lot of that), she’s moved on and we totally respect that.
We’re not going to review her whole album right here for you, but you should seriously go check it out.
She has a duet with Dolly Freaking Parton.

Kesha Writes Heartbreaking Letter to Her Younger Self
At this point, it’s probably literally impossible to not love Kesha, right?
From the amazing strength she’s shown throughout her recent legal battles to her sincerely wonderful new music, what’s not to love?
She’s just such an inspiration for so many reasons, and it’s so good that so many people are realizing it.
And if you find yourself to be doubting her greatness — or even if you’re well aware of her greatness and would just like to revel in it — you need to check out this letter she wrote to her 18-year-old self.
These days, Kesha is 30 years old, and we know she’s done a whole lot of living in the past 12 years.
But the letter … hold on tight, because it will almost surely tear you up.
“Dear Kesha,” she began the letter, which she read on yesterday’s episode of CBS This Morning.
“At this very moment you may be wondering whether it was really a good idea to drop out of high school. I moved to L.A. with nothing but your grandpa’s Lincoln Town Car and a demo tape.”
“I’ve got good news and I’ve got bad news, and I know you’re a tad impatient, so I’ll start with the good news: you made it!”, she continued.
“And thank god because the best plan B we ever came up with was waitressing, and as you will soon find out, that was not really our forte.”
But the bad news, she explained, “is you nearly killed yourself on the road to success, fueled by fear of failure, crippling anxiety, and insecurity.”
“You will become severely bulimic and anorexic — and the worse your disease gets the more praise you will get from some people in your industry, and this will really, really mess with your head.”
“But,” she added, “when you are trying to live up to an unrealistic expectation, it’s never gonna be good enough no matter what you do.”
From there, present-day Kesha gave some advice to her younger self — solid little tips like “don’t read comments on the internet.”
“Don’t let people scare and shame you into changing the things about yourself that make you unique and interesting,” she wrote. “Those are the qualities that will make your life so magical.”
“That bad girl, ‘I don’t give a sh-t’ attitude, that’ll work for a while and you will get a dollar sign tattooed on yourself that will last forever, probably.”
“But the truth is, you don’t need to put on an act. You can just be Kesha Rose Sebert. And guess what? Apparently that’s good enough.”
It’s enough to bring a tear to your eye, isn’t it?
“You must be strong because over time you will gain confidence and people will learn that words and art do matter,” Kesha continued.
She told little Kesha that she’d grow up to write a song called “Rainbow,” and “you’re gonna be really proud of it because there is light and beauty after the storm no matter how hard things get.”
“You’re gonna write this song to remember to make it through and you’re gonna remind yourself to love yourself and if you have truth in your heart there will always be a rainbow at the end of the storm,” she finished.
It’s a lovely letter, and it’s proof of just how far Kesha has come.
So proud of you, girl!

Jerry Seinfeld Explains Total and Complete Snub of Kesha
Jerry Seinfeld may have starred on the funniest sitcom in the history of the universe, but he took a page from one of the few shows that can make this same claim earlier in the week.
Approached by Kesha on the red carpet of an event in New York City and asked for a hug, Seinfeld went all Arrested Development on the singer, basically replying:
NO TOUCHING!
Three times.
Seinfeld was forced to reject Kesha on three separate occasions when she repeatedly pushed to wrap her arms around the iconic comedian while he was giving an interview.
Taken aback by the request, Seinfeld simply replied “no thanks” when Kesha said she wanted to give him a hug.
Then he said it again. And again after that because Kesha just wouldn’t accept the unexpected rejection.
“I don’t know who that was,” Seinfeld told the reporter following the awkward interaction.
It was Kesha, the journalist responded.
“Well, I wish her the best,” Seinfeld said, laughing pretty hard over the whole thing.
The incident (which you simply HAVE to watch above) went viral for two reasons:
1. It was hilarious.
2. It was the rare occasion when a celebrity showed his or her true self. There was no artifice here. There was no concern on Seinfeld’s part over how he might come across. He simply didn’t want to give someone a hug… so he chose not to.
And he chose not to in simple, kind fashion.
The snub went made headlines across the Internet, prompting Seinfeld to explain himself at the GOOD+ Foundation and MR PORTER Fatherhood Lunch on Thursday
“I’m 63, I don’t know every pop star … I don’t know everyone,” he said, adding: I’m not [a hugger].”
It’s true.
If Kesha really were as big a fan of the comedian’s as she claims to be, she’d remember the entire Seinfeld episode he dedicated back in the day to his disdain for greeting someone with a peck on the cheek.
And that was a reference to someone he knows!
“I was right in the middle of an interview, it was a little off,” Seinfeld added of the viral moment.
“When you get to be my age and you’ve done a couple things, you have your own reality, in my reality … I don’t hug a total stranger.
“I have to meet someone, say ‘hello.’ I gotta start somewhere … hug isn’t first moment of a human, two humans. I never did that.”
Jerry would have needed to respond by asking What’s the deal with random hugs?!? for this response to truly be classic Seinfeld. But it came pretty close.
The actor proceeded to joke that he has a “borderline harassment case” on his hands if he chose to make a big deal of it.
But then he turned a tad bit serious in wanting to make sure Kesha wasn’t too offended.
“I’m sure I would’ve liked her,” Jerry told Extra. “But I need to know who are you.”
It doesn’t help that Kesha has dropped the dollar sign from her name and rid her face of all glitter.
Perhaps if she kept both those things as part of her persona, and perhaps if she had yelled “TIMBER!” upon approaching Seinfeld, this situation could have been avoided, Jerry would have recognized her and a hug would have ensured.
We doubt it.
But it’s possible.
For the sake of our funny bone, however, we’re glad this wasn’t the case.
Now, if you’ll excuse us, we need to scroll up and watch that video again.

Jerry Seinfeld Has No Interest in Hugging Kesha
Anyone who has watched Seinfeld is well aware that the show"s main star is not a fan of obligatory hello kisses.
There was an entire episode dedicated to how Jerry would go to extreme lengths in order to avoid pecking a female friend on the cheek upon greeting her.
But apparently Kesha missed this one.
Much to her current embarrassment.
On Tuesday night, both Kesha and Jerry Seinfeld attended the David Lynch Foundation"s A Night of Laughter and Song at the Kennedy Center.
At one point on the red carpet, the iconic comedian was talking to a reporter about being tired and trying to sleep when the singer rushed over and told Seinfeld how she loves him “so much.”
Jerry was a bit taken aback, but he acknowledged Kesha"s praise with a smile and said "oh, thanks."
But this wasn"t enough for poor Kesha, who proceeded to go in for a hug."
No thanks, Seinfeld responded.
Please, asked Kesha.
No thanks, Seinfeld said again.
A little one? Kesha replied.
Yeah, no thanks, Seinfeld calmly shot back.
And that was it!
Kesha walked away in shame and Seinfeld cracked up.
Not out of cruelty or anything, just out of the oddness of the situation.
He didn"t want to hug a stranger. Can you blame the guy?!?
"I don"t know who that was," Seinfeld said to the reporter after the interaction.
He was then informed he was Kesha and responded, "Well, I wish her the best."
It"s an amazing clip.
And if Kesha is feeling at all bad about herself as a result of it, we"re guessing that Jerry was thrown off by her lack of glitter and the lack of a dollar sign in her name.
If she still rocked those accessories, Seinfeld totally would have gone in for a quick embrace upon recognizing her right away.
Watch the HUG FAIL for yourself:

Kesha Team Hammered Her on Weight, Dr. Luke Provided Emotional Support
