Vin Diesel Accepts Special Award, Pays Tribute to Paul Walker

It was a night of emotional firsts at the 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards.

As previously documented, Emma Watson took home the trophy for Best Actor in Film and TV, overcoming a field of nominees that included both men and women.

Elsewhere, MTV honored an entire film franchise with its Generation Award for the first time, as opposed to a single individual.

In accepting the honor on behalf of his Fast & Furious co-stars, Vin Diesel took to the stage and talked emotionally about the one co-star who is no longer with us:

Paul Walker.

“In 2002, I was standing on this stage and MTV had given Paul Walker and I an award for best duo,” said Diesel. “And now, 15 years later, I’m with my whole family and you’ve given us the Generation Award.”

Diesel was joined at the event by castmates Tyrese Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster.

He got teary-eyed as he paid thought back over the years, talking about how far the franchise has come and, of course, sharing memories of Walker, who died in a 2013 car crash.

He and Diesel were especially close.

Referring to Walker by the nickname “Pablo,” Diesel addressed his late friend directly at one point, saying simply: “We hope you’re proud.”

Diesel also made a point to thank fans for the honor, telling all those in attendance and all those watching at home:

“I gotta thank a generation that was willing to accept this multicultural franchise, where it didn’t matter what color your skin was or what country you were from…

"When you’re family, you’re family."

Preceding Diesel’s great speech, a video montage of the franchise – along with Walker’s best moments in it – played for the crowd.

Emma Watson Wins Gender-Neutral Award, Inspires a Nation

Emma Watson took home the first-ever gender-neutral award for Best Actor in Film and TV for her performance in Beauty and the Beast at the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday evening.

Indeed, the former Harry Potter star was selected as the winner in a field that included both men and woman, walking up on stage to accept a bucket of golden popcorn before delving into a moving and inspiring speech.

"The first acting award in history that doesn"t separate nominees based on their sex says something about how we perceive the human experience," Watson told an adoring crowd.

She continued:

"MTV"s move to create a genderless award for acting will mean something different to everyone.

"But to me it indicates that acting is about the ability to put yourself in someone else"s shoes and that doesn"t need to be separated into two different categories."

It was a big night overall for Beauty and the Best, which took home the prize for Best Movie.

During her lauded speech, the 27-year old British also gave Billions actor Asia Kate Dillon a shout-out while, thanking her for educating her in an “inclusive and loving" way.

Watson went on to say it’s Belle who is the true winner in all of this.

"I think I"m being given this award because of who Belle is and what she represents," Watson concluded.

"The villagers in our fairytale wanted to make Belle believe the world was smaller than the way that she saw it, with fewer opportunities for her … I love playing someone who didn"t listen to any of that."

Does it get any better than Emma Watson?!?

Seriously.

Farrah Abraham: SLAMMED for Bollywood-Themed Outfit at MTV Movie & TV Awards

Farrah Abraham did not take home any trophies at the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Sunday night.

Not officially, anyway.

But many critics think she earned the title of Worst Dressed and Least Respectful Star at the event.

And they don’t think the voting was especially close, either.

The often-controversial Teen Mom stepped right into the fire yet again yesterday when she donned a Bollywood-inspired ensemble to the ceremony.

As you can see in the Farrah Abraham photos above and below, the star rocked a three-piece gold and pink outfit that she accessorized with a matching headpiece and a bindi on her forehead.

A bindi a decorative mark worn in the middle of the forehead by Indian women.

It is considered a sacred symbol by Hindu and Jain practitioners, not something a celebrity is meant to show off as part of some kind of fashion statement.

And Twitter was quick to call Abraham out for her decision.

slammed Farrah

Abraham isn’t the first MTV awards show attendee to make this mistake on the red carpet.

At the 2013 MTV Movie Awards, Selena Golmez also wore a bindi and was immediately asked to apologize by the Universal Society of Hinduism.

“It is an auspicious religious and spiritual symbol,” the society told E! News in a statement at the time, adding:

“It is not meant to be thrown around loosely for seductive effects or as a fashion accessory aiming at mercantile greed. Selena should apologize and then she should get acquainted with the basics of world religions.”

Gomez never did address the issue in public.

But Farrah talked to TooFab on Sunday and defended her ensemble.

Referring to the heavy gold chain and pendant, henna ink choker and gold headpiece, the 25-year old told the website that she “wanted to bring culture to the red carpet.”

She’s not afraid of any backlash.

She just wants to serve as a role model.

“I think this will inspire others to embrace new cultures and have good experiences,” Abraham hilariously said.

That’s always the first thing we think of when we think of Farrah Abraham: someone who inspires deep thought and appreciation for other types people.

Unless those people are maybe gay and/or promiscuous.

Abraham concluded in this TooFab interview that her pink-and-gold ensemble was “freaking amazing, Bollywood and sexy.”

It’s freaking something, alright, that’s for sure.

Are you buying what Farrah is selling here, that she hopes to stir up important cultural debates and discussion?

Or do you just think she wanted to get some attention on the red carpet?
