Even by the standards of a man who’s followed one of the most unorthodox career paths in modern music, it’s been a strange month for Kanye West.
Just days before Thanksgiving, Kanye was hospitalized following what appeared to be a nervous breakdown.
Shortly thereafter, the rapper found himself embroiled in an unexpected political controversy when he visited Donald Trump at the president-elect’s eponymous tower.
Now, West is fending off rumors about his relationship with Kim Kardashian, who has reportedly become alienated by his increasingly erratic behavior and surprising political leanings.
Throughout their marriage, People magazine has proven a reliable source on all things Kim and Kanye, and today, the magazine offered a less than encouraging update on their rumored estrangement.
Contrary to what other sources have claimed, People says, the Trump visit was not the straw that broke the Kimye’s back:
“That’s so far down the list of what they’re dealing with at this point,” a source tells the magazine.
“Lots of couples have political differences; that’s not a deal breaker.
“They’re dealing with much more important things than who each of them supported for president.”
The insider admitted, however, that the Wests are going through the most difficult rough patch of their marriage.
But despite their recent frustrations, the source insists that Kim “currently has no imminent plans to file for divorce.”
Not exactly the most encouraging language.
In the past, when Kim and Kanye were forced to answer to divorce rumors, they responded with enthusiastic declarations of their enduring love.
By contrast, a half-hearted denial of “imminent plans” for divorce from a third party sounds like the build-up to a separation announcement.
Adding to the current confusion over the couple’s relationship status is the fact that Kanye reportedly checked out several apartments during the same NYC visit that brought him to Trump Tower.
Not a good sign.
However, several insiders have confirmed that the couple is planning to spend the holidays together.
Of course, that could be for the benefit of their two children (and to keep up appearances for the press.)
In conclusion: no one knows what’s going on with Kimye – but it doesn’t look good.
