As you’ve likely heard by now, Tiger Woods was arrested on DUI charges early Monday morning.
Early reports indicated that Woods refused a breathalyzer test, but gave arresting officers sufficient reason to believe that he was intoxicated.
The gold legend was taken into custody, but released on his own recognizance just a few hours later.
In a statement issued yesterday, Woods insisted that he was not drunk at the time of his arrest, but rather experiencing and adverse reaction to prescribed medications.
“I want the public to know that alcohol was not involved,” Woods said in a statement issued last night.
“What happened was an unexpected reaction to prescribed medications. I didn’t realize the mix of medications affected me so strongly.”
Woods underwent back surgery last month, and arrest records obtained by TMZ this morning reveal that he has been prescribed multiple medications.
The arresting officers’ account of the incident also reveals that Woods was extremely out of it when he was taken into custody.
According to the documents, cops found Woods asleep at the wheel of his 2015 Mercedes Benz with the motor running and his right blinker turned on.
The officers noticed that Woods “had extremely slow and slurred speech” and it son became clear that he had no idea what was going on.
Despite being arrested in Jupiter, Florida, Woods told police that he was “coming from L.A. California from golfing.”
He later admitted that he didn’t know where he was.
Officers proceeded to conduct a field sobriety test that Woods failed miserably.
The 41-year-old was reportedly unable to touch his nose or stand on one foot.
“When asked if he understood the Romberg alphabet test, he stated, ‘Yes, recite entire national anthem backwards,"” writes one officer.
While he did not take a breathalyzer test at the scene, Woods was tested after his arrest and blew zeros.
The report notes that he was “cooperative as much as possible, very droopy, extremely sleepy, hard to keep eyes open, hard to walk.”
Under “medical conditions,” the report notes that Tiger has been prescribed four different medications: Solarex, Vicodin, Torix and Vioxx.
The documents also state that he’s undergone four surgeries on his knee and four on his Achilles heel.
