The first Dancing With the Stars results show of the fall is in the books, and the first celebrity of the Season 25 cast has been ousted.
Who lived to tango another day, and who exited stage left?
Following last Monday’s Dancing With the Stars premiere, Shark Tank star Barbara Corcoran seemed like a likely candidate for elimination.
Frankie Muniz was also at risk, while other stars such as Derek Fisher were likely sweating bullets as well following their initial scores.
Let’s break down the routines and scores briefly …
Debbie Gibson and Alan Bersten – Quickstep – “This Is My Time” by Amy Stroup
Debbie knew she needed to adapt pretty quickly if she had any hope of staying in the competition, and it worked. The judges immediately noticed an improvement in her performance with Alan.
Score: 20/30
Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev – Waltz – “Come Away With Me” by Norah Jones
Nikki and Artem’s performance was not the best of the night, but it was also not the worst. They do play off each other very well, but the dance number could have been a bit more exciting.
It came off very disjointed in the end, and that’s probably not going to bode well down the line. It’s time to become pros at dancing.

Lindsey Stirling and Mark Ballas – Quickstep – “Swing Step” by Jurassic 5
Let’s just say if this were a competition for the best costumes per couple, we would definitely be handing Lindsey and Mark the win. The overall performance was decent, but breaking hold was detrimental to their performance.

Barbara Corcoran and Keo Motsepe – Tango – “Whatever Lola Wants” by Sarah Vaughan
Barbara was livid about the rough time she had last week with the judges and opted to find a way to stay in the competition. Despite a much better performance, it was not enough to separate this duo from the pack.
Score: 17/30
Nick Lachey and Peta Murgatroyd – Foxtrot “Mandy” by Barry Manilow
Okay, so Nick finally started to dance, but he continued to seem very wooden. We know he’s not someone who gets embarrassed very easily because he stuck with Jessica Simpson throughout her big tuna incident.
The judges agree that the duo show improvement, but will that be enough to save them?

Drew Scott and Emma Slater – Quickstep – “Sing, Sing, Sing” by Louis Prima
The judges were not ready to give Drew a free pass quite yet, so they were very critical of his performance. One of the biggest complaints was about his limbs flying about.
Emma, however, continued to get good praise, which makes sense because she’s a dancing pro.
Score: 20/30.
Vanessa Lachey and Maksim Chmerkovskiy – Foxtrot – “Hit Me With a Hot Note” by Tami Tappan Damiano
Nick’s wife, Vanessa continued to flourish under the influence of Maks. Vanessa knows what is expected of her and that’s why her first two performances with Maks have been such a hit.
Score: 24/30
Frankie Muniz and Witney Carson – Tango – “Whatever It Takes” by Imagine Dragons
Could Frankie Muniz be a surprising winner at the end of the season? You can tell he is loving what he’s doing and that’s a good thing because viewers are also enjoying it. Everything about it was perfect, and the duo has a lot of chemistry.
Score: 23/30
Terrell Owens and Cheryl Burke – Foxtrot – “Pillow Talk” by ZAYN
With the middling comments last week, Cheryl knew it was time to make some changes to right the ship. It was a much better performance, and Carrie Ann even pointed out that Terrell seems more into it this week.
That’s what happens when Cheryl Burke puts her foot down. Good for her.
Score: 20/30
Sasha Pieterse and Gleb Savchenko – Viennese Waltz – “I’m Going Down” by Rose Royce
Who would have thought that Sasha would be the surprise 180 of the season? After an extremely wooden performance last week, she made her way to the floor and absolutely killed it. Carrie Ann was firmly on Team Sasha, while Len had some complaints.
Score: 23/30
Victoria Arlen and Val Chmerkovskiy – Tango – “Look What You Made Me Do” by Taylor Swift
Victoria continued to defy the odds and even got to dance along to a Taylor Swift song. Out of everyone, Victoria has the most heartbreaking story, and it’s clear she wants to be in the competition. The judges liked how on point the performance was.
Score: 24/30
Derek Fisher and Sharna Burgess- Foxtrot – “Hallelujah, I Love Her So” by Ray Charles
This duo continued to be a problem, and everyone seemed to agree that Derek was the issue. He needed to learn to move around the ballroom and stop relying on Sharna for everything.
Jordan Fisher and Lindsay Arnold – Viennese Waltz – “Count on Me” by Judah Kelly
Jordan already emerged as a frontrunner last week with Lindsay, and thankfully, they continued to prove it was not just luck that they got to the top of the board.
They are definitely ones to watch as the season progresses.
Terrell and Cheryl and Barbara and Keo were the two unlucky couples who sat at the bottom of the leaderboard. In the end, Barbara and Keo were sent packing.
