No one really tries to deny that Bella Thorne is stunningly gorgeous.
Some people, however, have questioned her acting talents. They might assume that, even though she makes her living as an actress, Bella just gets jobs because she’s hot. Or maybe that she can only play certain, boobacious roles.
If you feel that way, be sure to not say it in front of the director of her current movie. He has zero chill.
There’s no denying that Bella Thorne got a serious attention boost after hanging with Scott Disick so much this summer.
Hey, one person’s self-destructive spiral is another person’s opportunity to rake in a little more with their Instagram promos, or whatever benefit Bella reaped from their … “association.”
But Bella Thorne is an actress with a number of film and television credits under her belt.
These days, she’s appearing in a film, The Life and Death of John F. Donovan, and she’s in some seriously good company.
We’re talking costars like Kit Harington, Jessica Chastain, Natalie Portman, and Susan Sarandon.
(Think what you may about Susan Sarandon after her political comments during 2016, but she’s still a seriously big name in the acting world)
One hater’s tweet about Bella Thorne caught the attention of the film’s director.
And then it caught his ire.
Xavier Dolan is directing The Life and Death of John F. Donovan, but he’s also an actor.
(In fact, his Instagram bio describes him as an “Actor, director, Slytherin.” He’s a likable fellow)
If you’re not familiar with Twitter, most of the time, interactions between stars and fans is pretty amicable.
Some people tweet graphically inappropriate things at stars, perhaps not realizing that the star might really see it.
(Or maybe they do — relative anonymity seems to open the door for harassment of all sorts)
One Twitter user, @magnusdamora, tweeted some very presumptious instructions to the Xavior Dolan.
“Uncast bella thorne in the death and life of john f. donovan right f–king now.”
As a general rule, we’ve never heard of directors who enjoy being told what to do with their art by random strangers on the internet.
Xavier Dolan saw this tweet, and made that abundantly clear with his reply:
“Make your own films, and leave me the f–k alone.”
It’s always good to see a director willing to stand up for the talent of the people they’ve hired instead of throw an actress under the proverbial bus just to preserve his own cred.
Mind you, Xavier didn’t directly defend Bella Thorne’s talents.
But the Twitter troll didn’t directly attack her talents, either.
We think that Xavier’s response was proportional, right?
By the way, anyone questioning Bella Thorne’s acting talents should think again.
Even setting aside the fact that being hot doesn’t get you automatically cast in things …
(Or Kendall Jenner would star in every other movie)
… Just think of what Bella was doing over the summer.
It looks like she was deliberately appearing beside Scott Disick, again and again, as a ploy to get a little more general exposure.
(Again, our guess is that she got some better social media promo deals out of the extra attention)
Do you really think that Bella Thorne was all that enamored with a 34-year-old alcoholic whose life is falling apart before his very eyes?
Scott Disick is a handsome man, but Bella’s dated first-rate hotties like Tyler Posey. The dude has starred for year on a show where every guy has to look hot shirtless.
We’d say that Bella was employing some real-world acting over the summer to seize an opportunity.
So let’s not question her acting chops.
