Glennon Doyle Melton and Abby Wambach: Engaged!

Glennon Doyle Melton and Abby Wambach have a major piece of exciting news to share:

They are engaged!

To be married!

The Christian mom blogger made major headlines in November when she announced to social media followers that she was dating the U.S. soccer team legend.

This relationship went public just three months after Melton split from her husband of 14 years.

“Abby is deeply sensitive and kind,” Melton wrote in the fall of the two-time Olympic gold medalist, adding:

“The kids call her an M&M because she looks tough on the outside but inside she’s really mushy and sweet.”

Melton, who understood at the time that many of her 650,000 Facebook followers would be taken aback by her same-sex relationship, went on to explain:

“I learn from her everyday about the woman I want to become. She is committed to her friends and family. She has this sense of country and honor and chivalry that feels beautiful to me.

“She cares about the vulnerable- children and animals especially…

“She’s just my favorite. My person.”

And the feeling must clearly be mutual, based on this engagement confirmation.

The blogger and author shared the above black-and-white photo of herself holding hands with the soccer star on Sunday, showing off their beautiful diamond engagement rings.

“Abby and I have decided to hold hands forever. Love Wins,” Melton captioned the post.

Wambach, who also filed for divorce in 2016, reposted the image on Instagram and added as her own caption:

“Happy. #iseethemoonnow.”

Outside of their social media messages, neither Melton or Wambach have said much about their romance.

But it’s obviously going extremely well.

“Feels like the world could use all the love it can get right now,” Melton also wrote back on November 13, making a subtle reference to the election of Donald Trump as President.

“So today, I’m going to share with you my new love. Her name is Abby. You might recognize her from soccer. … She loves me for all the things I’ve always wanted to be loved for.”

Last week, Melton posted an Instagram snapshot with her future fiancée, writing as a caption:

“And then one day it all makes sense. Every bit of it. And you can finally see your past as one long, blessed road leading you home. And you understand that every bit of it was necessary and that every bit of it was holy.

“Thank you for being my home @abbywambach . I love us.”

Here’s a look at that image:

We send these two our best wishes.

CONGRATS!

Jerry Doyle Dies; Babylon 5 Actor, Talk Show Host Was 60

Jerry Doyle, the actor best known for his work on the beloved television series Babylon 5, has passed away at the age of 60.

TMZ reported Doyle’s passing moments ago.

The cause of death is unknown at this time.

Sources say Doyle was found unresponsive in his Las Vegas home and died before paramedics arrived.

In addition to his acting career, which was highlighted by his portrayal of fan favorite Michael Garibaldi in Babylon 5 and its various spinoff projects, Doyle was an active figure in the right-wing political scene.

His 2010 book, Have You Seen My Country Lately? America’s Wake-Up Call, was praised by many of his contemporaries.

At the time of his death, Doyle was the host of the Jerry Doyle Show, a syndicated political radio program that aired in roughly 300 markets.

Though a lifelong Republican, Doyle was more libertarian than traditional conservative, and he endorsed Rand Paul during the 2016 GOP primaries.

As recently as last night, Doyle was tweeting amusing observations about some of his fond memories to his thousands of followers.

His page has since become a place for fans to share their grief:

“RIP Jerry Doyle, who helped make Babylon 5 an incredible show that’s impacted so many. You’ll be remembered, and missed,” wrote one user.

“Terribly sad news. Jerry was one of the all-time great conservative voices,” tweeted another.

“He will be missed by all of us.”

Doyle’s family has taken to Twitter to assure fans that further information regarding cause of death and memorial services will be provided when it becomes available.
