Jerry Doyle, the actor best known for his work on the beloved television series Babylon 5, has passed away at the age of 60.
TMZ reported Doyle’s passing moments ago.
The cause of death is unknown at this time.
Sources say Doyle was found unresponsive in his Las Vegas home and died before paramedics arrived.
In addition to his acting career, which was highlighted by his portrayal of fan favorite Michael Garibaldi in Babylon 5 and its various spinoff projects, Doyle was an active figure in the right-wing political scene.
His 2010 book, Have You Seen My Country Lately? America’s Wake-Up Call, was praised by many of his contemporaries.
At the time of his death, Doyle was the host of the Jerry Doyle Show, a syndicated political radio program that aired in roughly 300 markets.
Though a lifelong Republican, Doyle was more libertarian than traditional conservative, and he endorsed Rand Paul during the 2016 GOP primaries.
As recently as last night, Doyle was tweeting amusing observations about some of his fond memories to his thousands of followers.
His page has since become a place for fans to share their grief:
“RIP Jerry Doyle, who helped make Babylon 5 an incredible show that’s impacted so many. You’ll be remembered, and missed,” wrote one user.
“Terribly sad news. Jerry was one of the all-time great conservative voices,” tweeted another.
“He will be missed by all of us.”
Doyle’s family has taken to Twitter to assure fans that further information regarding cause of death and memorial services will be provided when it becomes available.
