Earlier this week, we learned that Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo got engaged after just a few weeks of courting.
We knew that Jinger’s courtship would be the focus of the upcoming season of Jill & Jessa: Counting On (premiering August 23), but now it looks as though her relationship will play an even larger role in the series than we thought.
With Season 2 of the show already in the can, sources are now saying that Season 3 will focus on the build up to Jinger and Jeremy’s nuptials.
And naturally, the whole thing will culminate in a season finale wedding ceremony.
The Duggars are no strangers to televised weddings, with older sister Jessa and Jill’s ceremonies both being featured on the family’s previous reality series, 19 Kids and Counting.
But the notion of centering an entire season around the planning of a ceremony and reception is a new one.
And one that fans are likely to eat up.
Weddings are big business in the world of reality television, and the Duggars need a sensationally popular season to silence critics and assure TLC execs that their show is worth the risk.
The first full season of Counting On saw advertisers cutting ties with the network after learning that their commercials were airing during its broadcast.
The family remains a source of constant controversy as a result of the Josh Duggar sex scandals, and many have called for a boycott of TLC.
Would a highly-publicized wedding be enough to start the slow rebuilding of the family’s reputation?
Almost certainly not, but Duggars are getting desperate.
