Christian Carino: Yes, He Really is Lady Gaga"s Fiance!
Lady Gaga continues to receive rave reviews for her role in A Star is Born.
But the singer took a moment on Monday and acknowledged the special role someone else is playing in her life right now.]
That is, she confirmed that she"s engaged to Christian Carino.
This is not a shocking piece of news to anyone who reads The Hollywood Gossip.
We wrote about Gaga"s plans to marry Carino back in November of 2017.
However, the artist is famously private and had not said a word about this relationship until she spoke this week at Elle‘s 25th Annual Women in Hollywood Celebration at Four Seasons Hotel Los Angeles.
The topic of Gaga"s speech was a very serious one.
She opened up to the crowd about having been sexually assaulted in the past, saying on stage:
"What does it really mean to be a woman in Hollywood? We are not just objects to entertain the world. We are not simply images to bring smiles or grimaces to people"s faces.
"We are not members of a giant beauty pageant meant to be pit against one another for the pleasure of the public. We women in Hollywood, we are voices."
Gaga added:
"As a woman who lives with chronic pain, as a woman who was conditioned at a very young age to listen to what men told me to do, I decided today I wanted to take the power back.
"Today I wear the pants."
Amen, right?
While this message is vitally important, it"s almost being overshadowed in the celebrity gossip world by the fact that Gaga also referenced talent agent Christian Carino as her "fiance" at one point.
The two started dating in February of last year and, as far as we know, got engaged about nine months later.
Carino was on hand to support Gaga ahead of her Super Bowl LI halftime performance in Houston in 2017, where the couple was photographed cuddling on the field.
But they have mostly kept a very low profile throughout their romance.

Jill Dillard: Drilled on Instagram Over Child-Proofing, Christian Music Choices
Once again, Jill Duggar’s parenting skills as the mother of two continues to hear it from her “fans” over literally every photo.
The Counting On veteran shared a photo of herself installing some baby-proof locks on her kitchen cabinets … so what’s the issue?
Her two sons, Samuel Dillard and Israel Dillard, are one and three years old. In other words, she’s being slammed for child-proofing …
… later than people think she should have!
“A long over due project!” Jill writes.
“Since Samuel has been walking, he keeps getting into the kitchen cabinets! Finally getting the cabinet locks put on! #writeitdowntocrossitoff.”
People who follow her on Instagram routinely criticize Jill Duggar’s parenting, and to be fair, some of her decisions are a bit questionable.
This, though? Fans (we use the term loosely) seem to be reaching a bit if they’re ripping on Silly Jilly’s supposedly overdue precaution.
Others took the opportunity to mock Derick Dillard, her oft-maligned and disgraced husband who was fired from Counting On.
Some choice comments in that vein:
“Yes they (well she was, her lazy ass husband does nothing but spew hate) were very busy creating horrid recipes!”
“Good old Derick couldn’t do it because he is as useless as the letter G in Lasagne. I should really get around to that.”
Hey, Derick’s going to law school now, people. Everybody just take a deep breath and leave this upstanding citizen alone!
All kidding aside, some supporters of Jill weighed in with more positive feedback. One of them even felt a little inspired:
“We’ve had the child proofing stuff for 2 months and my husband hasn’t done it. So maybe it’s time I do it myself!!”
“Thats so cool,” another said. “With Jessa it took her and Jinger to do it. Are you both going to see Jinger and her baby?”
“Jill looks like a loving, caring woman. I am usually good and judging people just by looking into their eyes,” another fan said.
“So to the negative people, find something to do! You are not Jill’s friend you’re just a fan. You’re not an admin on her page!”
“You’ve such an over inflated sense of the worth of your own opinions. Tell us, has Jill ever posted something you haven’t commented on?”
Well, that’s just way too logical for the Internet.
In addition to getting dragged for her parenting, Jill also revealed that she was listening to music during her DIY chores.
There were some strong opinions there, too.
“Listening to some praise music on my fave [90.9 KLRC] app,” Dillard included in her caption to the photo at the top of this article.
“I was under the impression that music with a beat, which Hillsong undoubtedly has, was not permitted by Jim Bob,” one fan commented.
Others blasted her because Hillsong’s message doesn’t mesh with her fundamentalist lifestyle … others still just blasted her faith.
At the end of the day, the Duggars are human.
There’s plenty to criticize, and we’ve been there. But to a point we also need to agree to disagree or just let folks live a little.
Is Jill endangering her kids’ lives here? Really?
Or is she actually doing something that, by definition, is designed to do the EXACT OPPOSITE and keep the little ones safer?
When we’re harping on someone child-proofing her kitchen just because it took her longer than it conceivably could have?
Might be time to rethink your own life. Or at least take a look at some of Jill’s mom’s far more questionable practices (above).
Seriously, some dubious stuff in here.

Ben Seewald to Derick Dillard: You"re Not a Real Christian, Bruh!
Talk of feuds between various factions of the extended Duggar family is not uncommon.
The rumors often have to do with discord between Jill and Jessa Duggar, who allegedly went from besties to rivals at some point in the past few years.
Now, fans are under the impression that a new tweet from Jessa’s husband, Ben Seewald, has shone a light on the cause of that dispute.
It now looks as though the conflict started with a spat between Ben and Jill’s husband, Derick Dillard, that’s only gotten worse in recent months.
As you may recall, Derick was fired by TLC last year after he launched a transphobic tirade against fellow network star Jazz Jennings.
Jill quit the show in a gesture of solidarity, and the couple has not shot a scene for Counting On in the months since.
Unfortunately, rather than learning a lesson from the incident, Derick has doubled down in his bigotry.
Last week, Derick attacked Nate Berkus, a designer who stars in a TLC show alongside his husband and daughter.
Dillard derided Berkus and his family as “a travesty” in another bizarre Twitter rant.
Just two days later, Ben — who is rarely active on Twitter — posted a retweet that many are interpreting as a shot at Ben:
“If you say you ‘love your neighbor’ while really just loving the people that look like you, live like you & think like you, it is not your neighbor that you are loving…it is yourself,” the tweet reads.
It ends with the hashtag “#reallylovethyneighbor”
This is not the first time that Seewald has proven himself to be more liberal than his in-laws, but never before has he so publicly attacked a family member’s bigoted beliefs.
It’s also not the first indication that members of the Duggars’ inner circle are fed up with Derick.
Earlier this month, Ben unfollowed Derick on Instagram, as did members of the Bates family, another massive fundamentalist clan that’s often regarded as some of the Duggars’ closest friends.
The situation has many wondering if Jill and Derick have cut off contact with her family entirely.
That seems unlikely, but it’s clear that there’s some tension between the Dillards and the Seewalds.
Will they work it out, or Derick eventually be exiled, a la Josh Duggar.
Unfortunately, the situation won’t play out on television, but you can still watch Counting On online to relive the days before Derck got kicked to the curb.

Derick Dillard: The View is BULLYING Me For Being Christian!
Recently, Derick Dillard went on a homophobic rant about one of TLC"s home improvement shows that features a gay couple and their family.
His controversial remarks were discussed so much that they were addressed on The View, which you can see in the video below.
Now, Derick is responding … and accusing the talk show hosts of bullying him.
Derick Dillard is known for his trolling tweets and sometimes comes across as desperate for attention now that he and Jill are no longer on Counting On.
This time, instead of bashing trans reality star Jazz Jennings, he is taking aim at Nate & Jeremiah By Design, a home improvement show on TLC.
"What a travesty of family. It’s sad how blatant the liberal agenda is, such that it both highlights and celebrates a lifestyle so degrading to children on public television as if it should be normal."
Hard to see how a child being in a loving home is degrading.
"They affect this poor child, as well as what perversions are celebrated. If it were adultery, I doubt a network would be so quick to focus on the reality of it as if it were ok."
Equating same-sex marriage to adultery is, of course, quite a reach.
But he says that he"s not being hateful.
"I’m not bashing the people, I’m just calling out the public agenda at play and how a network chooses what they highlight. Christians should love all as Christ loved all. Take advantage of capitalism: boycott what you don’t believe in, but don’t boycott relationships."
So he"s not being hateful … but he doesn"t think that these people should be on television because they"re gay parents.
Whoopi speaks up first, saying:
"You don"t have to agree with anybody"s lifestyle. But you don"t live in their house. Just like we don"t live in a house where there are 900 kids."
Basically, she"s saying that Derick doesn"t have much room to talk about unusual lifestyles, giving the family into which he married.
Sara Haines chimes in, saying:
"Some of my idols as parents are gay." She provides an example of a gay couple and their child (and adorable bulldog).
Sunny Hostin then says that she thinks that stances like Derick"s come from "people that lack empathy."
She also says that "people that haven"t been around gay couples."
One by one, each of the hosts on The View talks about same-sex parents, from personal anecdotes and from statistics, being healthy and loving.
Derick responded to this, decrying the segment as bullying:
"Really?! Are my friends on The View really going to be our standard & champion for open-mindedness?"
One, they"re not your friends, dude. Two, they"re not the standard, but they are meeting the minimum requirements for human decency.
"Conviction doesn’t equal lack of open mindedness."
That is technically true.
"We need to love all people & promote what’s best for everyone."
See, Derick isn"t a kill-all-gay-people sort of bigot, he"s a all-gay-people-should-just-not-be-gay bigot. He believes that his views are compassionate.
"Most Americans believe this, but are fearful of bullying like this."
If he"s saying that most Americans oppose marriage equality, that is false. Just under two-thirds of Americans support same-sex marriage.
And then, of course, there"s his accusation that what these hosts have to say is bullying.
First of all, they don"t really seem to talk about Derick enough for this to qualify as bullying.
As you"ll see in the clip below, they mostly talk about same-sex couples who are parents whom they know and love.
Meghan McCain shares that her mother came around on marriage equality when she realized that so many children could be adopted into loving homes.
They also talk about how, for both adults and for children, knowing families with same-sex parents makes it clear that the sort of gay bogeyman that anti-gay activists describe doesn"t at all match up with the real thing.
Derick does say that he has been exposed to people who aren"t like him, tweeting:
"I have friends who are homosexual and was in public school for 17 years, including university band, fraternity life, and spirit squad. I think I’ve more than opened my mind and eyes to experience all kinds of people very different than myself."
That"s … sad.
But we have to remember that Derick Dillard comes from the far-right fringes of American Christianity.
We don"t doubt that, among the people with whom he associates, the majority do oppose marriage equality and same-sex parents adopting and a host of other things.
There is a narrative among extreme conservatives that Christianity is being oppressed in the United States, even though Christians are of course the majority.
The narrative has been very popular recently among conservative politicians, who believe that Trump and politicians like him are "hitting back" at their oppressors.
It is also a popular narrative with Derick and those who support his less-than-kind tweets.
