Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Actually Saved by NBC!!!!!
It’s a television miracle!
Just days after Fox broke the hearts of comedy fans everywhere, NBC has swooped in and rescued in and rescued one of our favorite sitcoms on television.
Indeed: Brooklyn Nine-Nine has been picked up for a sixth season!
To quote Captain Raymond Holt…. HOT DAMN!
Executive producer Dan Goor broke this amazing news late on Friday via Twitter, saying his series is coming back for at least 13 more episodes.
“Hey everyone, just wanted to say no big deal but…. NBC JUST PICKED #BROOKLYN99 UP FOR SEASON 6!!!” Goor wrote, adding:
“Thanks in no small part to you, the best fans in the history of the world! Nine-Nine!”
Television shows get canceled all the time, of course.
Overall, 20 were actually given the axe in just a 24-hour period yesterday.
But the outcry over Fox canceling Brooklyn Nine-Nine was especially loud this week, with fans (including some famous ones; see below) aghast that such a funny and optimistic and well-acted program no longer had a home.
“Ever since we sold this show to Fox, I’ve regretted letting it get away, and it’s high time it came back to its rightful home,” NBC entertainment chairman Robert Greenblatt said in a statement.
He continued:
“Mike Schur, Dan Goor and Andy Samberg grew up on NBC, and we’re all thrilled that one of the smartest, funniest, and best cast comedies in a long time will take its place in our comedy line-up.
“I speak for everyone at NBC, here’s to the Nine-Nine!”
Fox put its own end to the cop comedy on Thursday, ending a five-season run.
However, viewers – including famous names such as Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Hamill and Guillermo del Toro – raised such an uproar on social media that NBC apparently took notice.
The show started as a vehicle for Saturday Night Live alum Andy Samberg, but has grown into one of the best ensemble comedies on television.
It co-stars Melissa Fumero, Andre Braugher, Terry Crews, Stephanie Beatriz and Chelsea Peretti, among others.
It really is very, very funny.
“#Brooklyn99 IS COMING BACK FOR SEASON 6 YOU GUYS ON NBC!!!!! You did this!!” Tweeted Fumero last night, adding:
“You got loud and you were heard and you saved our show!! Thank you!! Thank you to NBC!! NINE NINE!”
And there was this from Beatriz:
“SQUAD YOU DID IT #BROOKLYN99 WILL BE ON NBC FOR OUR 6th SEASON!!!!!”
We’re as happy as Captain Holt eating some kind of bland meal.
Or as thrilled as Terry opening up a brand new cup of yogurt.
Or smiling as widely as Jake thinking of the name of a friend’s sex tape.
Will any other shows get saved by any new networks?

Kevin Smith: Smoking Weed Saved My Life!
Back in February, Kevin Smith suffered a heart attack that nearly claimed his life.
Fortunately, the beloved filmmaker pulled through, and these days, he"s up and about, and once again meeting the many demands of his still-thriving media empire.
Smith updated fans on his condition throughout his recovery, noting that he rapidly lost 17 pounds after switching to a mostly plant-based diet.
Yes, the man who created such characters as Bluntman & Chronic and who hosts a web series called Fatman on Batman might not seem like the most likely health guru, but Smith has been to the brink and turned things around.
And while he admits that some of his vices led to the slow deterioration of his health, there"s one indulgence that may have literally saved his life.
Smith appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night, and he shared the tale of receiving some very surprising news from his physician.
It seems Smith was in New York to perform a stand-up set when the attack occurred, and his pre-show herbal relaxation ceremony wound up making the difference between life and death.
"I asked my doctor like after this was all done, I was like, "I hate to ask this question, man, but did I have a heart attack because of the weed? Because I smoked a joint right before the show,"" Smith told the audience.
"No. In fact, quite the opposite," Smith recalled the doctor saying.
"That weed saved your life."
Yes, they"re the words every stoner dreams of hearing.
And we think it"s safe
"He said, you kept calm…they told you [you] were going through stuff and you kept calm the whole time, so that joint saved your life," Smith told said.
"I"m putting that on a T-shirt," the 47-year-old concluded.
We"re guessing that"s one item of merchandise that would prove very popular with Smith"s fans.

Mackenzie Standifer: I Saved Ryan Edwards" Life!!!

Mackenzie"s husband, Ryan Edwards, has never been that likable himself.
But still, there"s just something special about Mackenzie, something that makes her so very easy to despise.
And she"s making that even easier with a new blog she wrote about Ryan"s addiction …
1. Suspicious …
If you’ve watched Teen Mom at all in the past few years, you’ve probably noticed that Ryan’s seemed a little bit … off. From his bugged out eyes to his disappearances to “the bank” for hours every day, something just wasn’t right with him.
2. The Big Reveal
Turns out, that “something” was drugs.
3. Understandable Tears
As Maci revealed in an episode last season, Ryan had been struggling with addiction. She didn’t give out any details, but it was obvious that Ryan was into something bad.
4. Heroin?
At one point last season, Maci said that a friend of Ryan’s had texted her and let her know that things had somehow gotten even worse for him, and though again she didn’t get into specifics, the news obviously shook her up. Then, in this scene from the season finale, fans spotted what looked like track marks on Ryan’s arms.
5. What a Nightmare
After fans spotted those alleged track marks, they saw Ryan nod off while driving himself and Mackenzie to their parking lot wedding. It was definitely one of the most shocking moments in the history of Teen Mom, and it made it clear that Ryan had a big, big problem.
6. Yep, Heroin
And on an episode this season, it was confirmed that Ryan was doing heroin, so there’s that tragic little tidbit.

Francia Raisa Saved My Life, Selena Gomez Says in Emotional Interview
Selena Gomez is speaking out about her kidney transplant for the first time.
And she isn’t doing so alone.
The artist has sat down for her first interview since undergoing this major procedure, talking to The Today Show about all it entailed… while sitting alongside the best friend who made it possible.
That would be Francia Raisa.
About a month ago, Gomez stunned the celebrity gossip community when she confirmed Raisa actually gave her a kidney.
The beloved singer was in rough shape due having Lupus, devastating illness in which a person’s own immune system attacks their healthy cells.
In a preview of a sit-down with the close pals that will air on Monday, Savannah Guthrie Tweeted the following on Friday morning:
“Next week on TODAY: @selenagomez & @therealfrancia speak out together for the 1st time since the kidney transplant that saved Selena’s life.”
Is the co-host being extreme or hyperbolic?
Not really, Selena says.
“I got to the point where it was really kind of life or death,” Gomez says in the interview, growing emotional, adding:
“I didn’t want to ask a single person in my life. And she volunteered and did it.”
For her part, Raisa – an actress best known for her role on The Secret Life of the American Teenager – previously shared on Instagram that the experience changed her life as well.
“I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process,” Raisa wrote last month.
She also told Selena in this same post that she loved her and she’s so happy the two could share “this journey together.”
For Gomez, of course, the feeling is quite mutual.
“My kidneys were just done” Gomez tells Guthrie, emphasizing the severity of the situation.
Gomez broke the shocking news of her operation a few weeks ago with a sweet photo of herself and Raísa holding hands from their hospital beds, along with photos of her stomach following the surgery.
“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Gomez wrote in the post., expounding as follows:
“She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed.
“I love you so much sis.”
The star also went into a bit of detail regarding what led to the procedure and why she needed it:
“I’m very aware some of my fans had noticed I was laying low for part of the summer and questioning why I wasn’t promoting my new music, which I was extremely proud of.
“I found out I needed to get a kidney transplant due to my Lupus and was recovering. It was what I needed to do for my overall health.”
The full interview with Raisa and Gomez will air across two Today installments on Monday and Tuesday.
This really is a pretty amazing story.
