Kim Kardashian Rocks "Bo Derek" Dreadlocks, Hears It From Haters

Stop us if you’ve heard this before, but…

… a member of the Kardashian-Jenner family has been accused of cultural appropriation.

This term is applied when a (typically white) individual doesn’t copy a certain style made popular by someone from a different background of out respect or as some kind of tribute.

But does so instead to simply further him or herself; for self-promotional reasons only.

It’s most commonly used to slam Caucasians for “stealing” something from African-Americans, usually a look or a theme.

Like dreadlocks.

It should not be a controversial statement to say that dreadlocks were made popular by African-American women. It is this section of society that basically created the hairdo.

So this brings us to Kim Kardashian.

She shared the following photo a few hours ago on Snapchat:

Even worse (in the eyes of critics), she wrote the following caption along with it:

“So guys, I did Bo Derek braids and I’m really into it.”

Short… but not very sweet, based on the reaction of many Internet users.

The mention of Bo Derek is a reference to the veteran actress and her role in the 1970s movie 10.

And it’s very much true that Derek rocked some serious braids for that film, as you can see here:

But many comments left on Kim’s video took major issue with Kardashian giving Derek any sort of credit for inventing this style of hair.

“Kim Kardashian on snap talking bout her Fulani braids are ‘Bo-Derek braids,’ while she got 3 black children I CANT tonight,” one Twitter user wrote, while another chimed in with:

“Kim Kardashian about to hear it from black Twitter. She’ll have them braids out by Tuesday, along with an apology saying how she didn’t mean to offend anyone.”

That’s probably true.

Here’s a look at some of the more harsh responses:

Kardashian and her sisters have a long history of this sort of thing.

In October, Kourtney was slammed for dressing up like Michael Jackson for Halloween.

In August of 2016, Khloe heard it from haters when it came to her hair.

And remember when Kendall and Kylie Jenner tried to profit off Tupac and Biggle? YIKES.

You can agree or disagree with critics who have come down hard on Kardashian for this latest look.

And you can also scroll through the photos below to compare and contrast past unique hairstyles.

But we can all agree on one thing: Kim Kardashian looks best nude.

Kailyn Lowry Brings Back Dreadlocks; Fans Voice Displeasure

Earlier this month Kailyn Lowry posted a photo of herself with dreadlocks on Instagram, and her followers lost their ever-longing minds.

Why? Well, that’s anyone’s guess, but the important thing is that Kailyn bowed to the pressure from fans, haters and people who are easily offended by hairstyles and ditched the dreadlocks – which is why many followers are confused by her latest selfie:

Yep, there’s Kailyn, rockin’ the locks once again.

As you can see, she’s shilling the same magic weight loss tea that seems to be a favorite selfie prop amongst C-list celebrity stars on Instagram these days.

So it’s possible that Kailyn was contractually obligated to post a photo of herself sipping some “@FlatBellyTea (#ThankMeLater),” but why would she choose one where she’s sporting dreads?

She had the hairstyle for all of about four hours, and she was clearly bothered by the reaction from her fans because she immediately went back to her old ‘do.

We can’t imagine the tea company that’s clearly compensating Kailyn to post this pic would be very pleased with her essentially confirming to fans that she hasn’t drank the stuff in weeks.

Are we putting way too much thought into a Teen Mom 2 star’s hair? Absolutely! But so are her fans:

“Hair?!” wrote baffled user.

“Not again!” wrote another, who clearly doesn’t approve of Kailyn’s choice of coiffure.

“This is old. Do your research before you insult someone! You’re embarrassing yourselves by assuming,” wrote another, who clearly has the lowdown on Kailyn’s hair-related choices.

Frankly, we don’t know who to believe anymore.

We’re just gonna go listen to some Bob Marley, watch Teen Mom 2 online, and sip some Flat Belly Tea until this whole thing blows over.

Kailyn Lowry Ditches Dreadlocks, Fans Breathe Sigh of Relief

Yesterday, photos of Kailyn Lowry sporting dreadlocks elicited…let’s say mixed reactions from her fan base.

Okay, we were just being nice. Aside from a handful of diehard Teen Mom 2 fans who were just desperate for a re-tweet from Kailyn, no one had anything good to say about the dreads. Fortunately, the girl knows how to take criticism:

Kailyn posted the above photo today as a way of assuring fans she’s returned to the hairstyle they know and have no strong feelings about.

She confusingly explained her reasoning with a 50 Cent lyric, writing, They Told Me Switch The Style Up & If They Hate Then Let Them Hate & Watch The Money Pile Up.”

Wouldn’t letting them hate mean keeping the dreads? And what does any of this have to do with her bank account?

Anyway, some fans interpreted the hairstyle as a cry for help and posted concerned tweets about Kailyn going off the rails.

We guess those people can breathe easy now. They also should consider no longer reading so much into people’s hairstyles.

Sadly, there’s still reason to believe that Kailyn has separated from her husband, and she’s very likely going though a difficult time, but hey – at least her hair looks better!

Kailyn Lowry Gets SLAMMED For Bieber-Inspired Dreadlocks, Deletes Instagram Pic

White people with dreadlocks. It’s the Mount Everest of culturally problematic ethnicity/hairstyle combos. Many think they can take it on, most are wrong.

Last week, Justin Bieber rocked the ‘locks at the 2016 iHeartRadio Awards, and the reaction was…not great. Sadly, that didn’t stop Teen Mom 2 star Kailyn Lowry from taking a page from the Biebs book with a hairstyle that has fans deeply divided:

Now, in fairness, Kailyn has a lot on her plate these days.

She seems to be separated from her husband, Javi Marroquin. Her ex Jo Rivera just got engaged. And of course, like all Teen Mom stars, her life is a constant whirlwind of screaming matches and questionable decisions.

So it’s not surprising that she decided to make a superficial change, perhaps to in some small way reclaim some control of her life.

Unfortunately, it’s also not surprising that her rasta-pasta blonde dreads have been absolutely savaged by social media commenters.

The situation got so bad, in fact, that Kailyn deleted the above photo from Instagram and Twitter, and started retweeting the handful of fans who complimented her new ‘do.

She hasn’t spoken out about the controversy, aside from a tweet reading simply, “People are afraid of change.”

We don’t know about “change,” Kailyn, but they certainly seem to be afraid if your new look.

Justin Bieber in Dreadlocks: Really Racist or Just Really Ugly?

Justin Bieber performed a pair of songs to open the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday night.

But while viewers seemed to like the artist’s rendition of “Company,” few could say the same about the look he debuted while singing this track.

Oh, yes, those are dreadlocks atop Bieber’s head.

The general consensus on the Internet soon after Justin showed off this new hairstyle wasn’t simply that it’s ugly… but that it’s a tad racist, as well.

“Justin Bieber got dreads *culture appropriation deep sigh*,” wrote @IktGuy, while @jawnita added by way of consternation:

“is justin bieber… tryna do white dreads…”

Celebrities trying out dreadlocks have been pretty always gone badly.

At the Academy Awards in 2015, Zendaya walked the red carpet with them and was then on the receiving end of a (mostly racist) rant by Giulianna Rancic.

That same year, Kylie Jenner wore dreads in a spread for Teen Vogue, got heavily criticized for the style and then found Bieber coming to her defense.

“Guys leave her alone, we’re all trying to figure it out and she happens to be under a microscope!” Justin wrote of Kylie at the time.

”I’m the first to know this. But saying she’s being racist because she has her hair in braids is ridiculous.

“Lets focus on the bigger picture and instead of fighting over something stupid let’s do something about equality, but it doesn’t start here blasting a 17-year-old kid for wearing braids smh.”

He makes a good point.

But he also looks SO stupid in the photos above, don’t you think?

Sound off below: What do you think of Justin Bieber in dreadlocks?

Justin Bieber Debuts Dreadlocks at iHeartRadio Music Awards

Justin Bieber took home Male Artist of the Year at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday night.

But it was a different appearance by the singer on stage that has folks buzzing today.

That"s because Bieber also performed at the event, belting out a version of "Company" for those in attendance, the fourth track off his latest album "Purpose."

He sounded pretty good and all, but whatever. Forget that.

Can we talk about how Justin Bieber looked?!?

The artist broke out yet another hairstyle at the iHeartRadio Music Awards, turning his ultra blonde hair into a set of dreadlocks.

At various points during his performance, Bieber broke out his guitar and danced around with fans… but all we keep coming back to are the dreadlocks.

What do you think of the look? Can Bieber pull it off? Is this a style step too far? Is he trying way too hard to be cool?

We have so many questions. Can you help provide some answers?

Check out Bieber on stage at the 2016 iHeartRadio Music Awards and sound off on the superstar"s unexpected new hairdo.
