Beyonce, Allegedly Racist Halftime Act to Be Protested in NYC

Red Lobster may be very happy with Beyonce because the chain says it has seen sales spike as a result of Beyonce singing about where she takes a lover that pleases her in bed.

But not everyone shares in this ongoing love affair with the superstar solo artist.

In fact, a full day’s worth of protests AGAINST Beyonce are planned for Tuesday outside of the NFL’s New York City headquarters.

The rally is being organized by an unnamed host who says in his or her promotion that Beyonce’s halftime performance was a “race-baiting stunt” and a “slap in the face to law enforcement.”

Reads the event’s official website, in a plea to like-minded critics of Queen Bey:

“Come and let’s stand together. Let’s tell the NFL we don’t want hate speech & racism at the Superbowl ever again!”

Beyonce released the music video for “Formation” the day before the Suepr Bowl.

The controversial footage takes on issues such the post-Hurricane Katrina response in New Orleans, police brutality and black womanhood in general.

She followed up this video by dressing like a member of the Black Panthers alongside a group of backup dancers, prompting ex-New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani to say the following on Fox News:

“I thought it was really outrageous that she used it as a platform to attack police officers, who are the people who protect her and protect us, and keep us alive.

“What we should be doing in the African-American community, and all communities, is build up respect for police officers.”

However, Kevin Allred – an adjunct lecturer at Rutgers University who actually teaches a class on the politics of Beyonce – tells The Huffington Post that this line of criticism is terrible off base.

“I do think it’s a hateful action and a very privileged one,” Allred said of the anti-Beyonce protest, explaining:

“It’s people who aren’t thinking critically. They’re getting mad at her calling out an injustice rather than being mad at the injustice itself.”
