Dancing With the Stars Recap: Switch it Up!

Following the (not-at-all) shocking elimination of Geraldo Rivera, Mischa Barton and Marla Maples, in that order, who would be next?

Would we be treated to some truly surprising Dancing With the Stars results, or would the also-rans continue to depart with a whimper?

As it turned out … no one was eliminated on Monday.

That doesn’t mean there weren’t fireworks, however.

Switch-Up Night on Dancing With the Stars meant that every celebrity got a new professional partner for this week and this week only.

In other words … everyone got a reprieve from the apparently detested duo! Because everyone hates Nyle DeMarco and Peta Murgatroyd!

Discussion for another time right there. So last night:

1. Nyle DiMarco and Sharna Burgess: 37/40

2. Jodie Sweetin and Val Chmerkovskiy: 35/40

3. Ginger Zee and Mark Ballas: 32/40

4. Paige VanZant and Sasha Farber: 31/40

5. Wanya Morris and Witney Carson: 30/40

6. Von Miller and Lindsay Arnold: 29/40

7. (tie) Doug Flutie and Peta Murgatroyd: 28/40

7. (tie) Kim Fields and Keo Motsepe: 28/40

9. Antonio Brown and Karina Smirnoff: 26/40

With Maksim Chmerkovskiy joining Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli, and Carrie Ann Inaba at the judges’ table, you knew it’d get interesting.

And by interesting, we obviously mean it got heated.

Nyle DiMarco and his switch up partner, Sharna Burgess, earned the first 10 of the season, a subject of some controversy for the judges.

What they could all agree on was that Jodie Sweetin’s paso doble with Val Chmerkovskiy was her best dance yet, vaulting her into the top tier!

As for the football stars in the house … yikes. Again.

Who do you think is next in line to get the boot from Dancing With the Stars? And who do you think will dance their way to the title?

Dancing with the Stars Recap: Switch Up!

Dancing with the Stars returned for a fifth week on Monday, and the stakes were higher than ever as the remaining celebs battled for survival.

Or not. There was no elimination this week!

It was something of an unusual night as longtime staple Maksim Chmerkovskiy joined the panel as guest judge, and Tom Bergeron returned as host.

Meanwhile, the contestants were paired with a different pro for one night only, and the combined scores (and votes) will be combined with next week.

As for the aspiring dancing sensations, some celebrities took the partner switch by the horns and thrived, while others faltered following the switch.

In the former column?

Alexa PenaVega, the former Spy Kids star whose tango with Derek Hough was so “incredible,” and had so much “authenticity,” according to the judges.

Her husband, Carlos PenaVega, finished just one point behind her perfect score, while fan favorite Bindi Irwin rounded out the top three on Monday.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, Tamar Braxton struggled with her new partner, as did Vine star Hayes Grier with the pregnant Allison Holker.

Paula Deen earned the worst score of the night, though she did earn modest praise from the judges, while Alek Skarlatos and Emma Slater hit it off.

Not technically – their score was tied for second-lowest – but personally, as the judges were pretty much overtly trying to set them up on a date.

So there’s that. The complete DWTS scores from last night:

  • Alexa PenaVega and Derek Hough (tango): 40/40

  • Carlos PenaVega and Lindsay Arnold (quickstep): 39/40

  • Bindi Irwin and Valentin Chmerkovskiy (cha-cha): 37/40

  • Andy Grammer and Sharna Burgess (Argentine tango): 36/40

  • Nick Carter and Witney Carson (paso doble): 35/40

  • Hayes Grier and Allison Holker (Viennese waltz): 30/40

  • Tamar Braxton and Louis van Amstel (samba): 29/40

  • Alek Skarlatos and Emma Slater (rumba): 29/40

  • Paula Deen and Mark Ballas (jive): 26/40

Who do you think should get the boot next week (barring an unexpected turnaround in scoring, that is)? Who will win the Mirror Ball?

Mathew Knowles -- Here"s a Switch ... Screw Your Accountant!

Z STAFF

EXCLUSIVE

0922-matthew-knowles-getty-01Mathew Knowles has a knack for finding financial trouble … he just got socked with a big judgment by a company he hired to get him out of the money hole he dug for himself.

Check this out … Beyonce‘s dad hired Platinum Tax Defenders to deal with Uncle Sam, who was all over his ass.

But Platinum doesn’t come cheap … charging more than $ 62,000 for 3 months work. Mr. Knowles paid a skosh over $ 37,000 and that’s all she wrote … so claims the tax company.

So, Platinum sued and Knowles was a no-show in court, so he got socked with a judgment north of $ 20k.

Despite the judgement, an attorney for Knowles tells us he still vehemently denies the allegations in the complaint.

Aluminum Tax Defenders … beware.
