Lena Dunham Complains About Sushi & Jason Bourne, Probably Needs a Nap

Lena Dunham. The very name conjures images of the ultimate precious snowflake – a being who thrives on a steady diet of inherited privilege, manufactured outrage, and reassurances that she’d totally be this successful even if she hadn’t been born with wealth and connections most young people would kill for.

The last time Lena held her breath and stamped her little feet until society reluctantly agreed to fork over a 16th minute of relevance, she was complaining about Kanye West’s “Famous” video.

Now, this feels a bit like the time we had to begrudgingly applaud Donald Trump’s comments about Caitlyn Jenner’s right to use the bathroom in Trump Tower, but Dunham had a point there.

Some say the Kanye video was exploitative to the point of being criminal.

Pretty much everyone agrees it was just plain damn creepy.

So we’re with Lena on that one, but yesterday she squandered whatever goodwill she might have built up with two of her most eyeroll-inducing tantrums to date.

No, she’s not protesting Justin Bieber lyrics again, but her latest pet causes might be even more ridiculous.

We’ll take these in order of least to most ridiculous so that you have time to judge for yourself if you have the constitution for Dunham’s most foolish “controversy” to date.

She kicked things off yesterday with a complaint about Jason Bourne.

Yes, she has a problem with the fictional spy portrayed by Matt Damon, and no, it’s not the fact that his new movie isn’t titled Bourne Again.

Lena reposted (then quickly deleted) an Instagram call to arms encouraging fans to deface promotional art for the new Bourne film, because some of the posters portray Matt Damon holding a gun.

“Good idea … let’s go,” Dunham wrote before dozens pointed out that such action is 100% guaranteed to have zero effect on gun violence and will at best just get some impressionable kids arrested.

And we’re talking about kids who will get arrested and go to jail, Lena, not arrested and dropped off at their brownstone for a stern lecture followed by a warm mug of fair trade “healing cocoa.”

Okay, if you endured that, you might be able to handle the truly ridiculous Lena outburst of the week.

In this one, she claims that serving sushi in a college dining hall amounts to cultural appropriation, and the kids at her alma mater should rise up in passionate protest of … California rolls. Seriously:

“There are now big conversations at Oberlin, where I went to college, about cultural appropriation and whether the dining hall sushi and banh mi disrespect certain cuisines,” Dunham said in a recent interview.

“
The press reported it as, “How crazy are Oberlin kids?” But to me, it was actually, ‘Right on."”

She continued, “I understand them. I also have entirely too much time on my hands and parents who ruined me at a young age by indulging every shrieking nonsense monster I birthed out of my mouth like Melisandre in Season 2 of Game of Thrones.”

Okay, we may have made that last quote up.

Chelsea Houska: Nervous About Baby Number 2!

After announcing her big news on July 12th, Chelsea Houska couldn’t help but be honest.

The Teen Mom 2 star and her fiance, Cole DeBoer are expecting their first child together, and while they can’t wait to be a family of four, Houska admitted that she “feels more nervous for some reason,” when a fan asked if she felt more prepared for this pregnancy.

“It’s been awhile and I want to do everything perfect #deboerbaby,” Houska responded via Twitter.

The impromptu Q&A saw Houska get real with fans, who were nothing but supportive of the news.

“Sometimes it’s scary sharing such personal things and letting so many people/opinions into our lives,” she wrote.

“You guys have made us feel so amazing.”

Houska, who said she had “no idea” she was pregnant at the Teen Mom 2 reunion, assured her fans that even though the pregnancy was “not unplanned,” it just happened a wee bit faster than she or DeBoer expected.

No matter, though.

“Super happy! :) we are very lucky.”

The best part? Houska took a little dig at her ex-boyfriend, Adam Lind (they have a daughter, Aubree, together).

“What are you most excited for during this pregnancy?” another fan asked.

“To be able to experience this with an amazing supportive man,” Houska answered.

When she starred on 16 & Pregnant, Houska’s ugly relationship with Lind played out in front of the cameras.

In one episode, Lind texted Houska this incredibly romantic text:

“You fat stretch mark bitch…tell me where and when to sign the rights over for that mistake.”

Now, Houska is living her dream life with a fiance who is the complete opposite of Lind.

And no, she and DeBoer will not be postponing the wedding.

Houska told fans she’ll just let her dress out a little to include baby Deboer.

Victoria Beckham Somehow Draws Internet Ire for Kissing Her Daughter

On July 10, Harper Beckham turned five years old.

In honor of her daughter, Victoria Beckham shared the following photo on Instagram, including with the image a caption that reads:

“Happy Birthday baby girl… We all love you so much… kisses from mummy.”

Pretty basic, right?

Pretty nice and normal and loving and there’s nothing else to say about this picture, right?

We wish.

We really wish that were it.

In response to the picture, however, online trolls expressed disgust and outrage over the former Spice Girl kissing her offspring on the lips.

“Horrible pic. David Beckhams birthday pic is much nicer and a lot less controversial than this stupid bitches,” someone actually wrote.

We wish we could say this person was alone in his or her response.

But take a look below. This user, sadly, was not…

beckham hate

Seriously, people really did write those things about a mother giving her daughter a kiss.

Even those who defended Beckham did so in a back-handed, overly analytical way.

They saw this picture and somehow found it necessary to turn it into a commentary on love and parenthood and society.

See what we mean here:

weird defense

Parental shaming has become the new, unfortunate norm on the Internet.

Last week, critics slammed Kristin Cavallari for supposedly not feeding her children, based on a solitary photo of them at the beach.

People also took issue with Bristol Palin’s daughter posing near some fake guns.

And this really has to stop.

All of these parents are doing the very best they can. They clearly love their children. And you have no idea what’s really going on at home between these family members.

It’s cruel to judge. It’s misguided. And it’s just mean.

It’s a cliche, but it’s also true: imagine if strangers on the World Wide Web slammed your parenting skills (or anything about you) based on a single image.

Imagine how you would feel.

Imagine that and then think twice before doing it to someone else.
