Nicki Minaj: SLAMMED for Mockery of Mentally Ill Woman

For Nicki Minaj, it’s one thing to bash Melania Trump.

Some might say the singer was out of line for doing so, considering the real bigoted danger is Melania’s husband, but Minaj didn’t get into all that much trouble in October for referring to Trump as “brainless.”

It’s another thing, however, to make fun of a woman with legitimate mental issues.

And that appears to be what Minaj did in Miami this week.

The artist was filming a homeless woman on the sidewalk (for some reason) when the woman made some kind of remark about how she doesn’t need Nicki’s cellphone.

The woman then walked away, rambling to herself and very clearly seeming out of sorts.

But Minaj felt a need to call after her, saying on camera:

“What you said? Miss? Come here! What did I do? Can we talk?”

Nicki was laughing during this mostly one-sided exchange and included a laughing emoji as her caption when sharing the footage on Instagram.

You can see it here:

A video posted by Nicki Minaj (@nickiminaj) on

Commenters didn’t takevery  kindly to the post, with many locals actually saying the woman being taunted by Minaj in the clip is mentally ill. For real.

“I live in south beach and i know every homeless [person] around. We have a loooot of those around and she has mental illness,” wrote one follower.

Added another:

“You talk about privilege when you don’t get an award you want, but then you use your wealth and fame to abuse this woman who’s less fortunate than you? Hypocritical.”

And yet another chimed in as follows:

“why was this necessary to be put up on social media? Not cool. You sit in your nice limo and roll your window down to make fun of the less fortunate. Mental illness is a real issue… Use your platform to encourage kindness.”

It’s hard to argue with any of these points, isn’t it?

Even if Nicki was unaware of the woman’s mental state… why is she filming a random person on the street?

Why is she engaging with someone who isn’t in a proper state of mind? Why is she laughing at her?!?

A rep for National Alliance of Mental Illness-Miami learned of this incident and contacted The New York Post.

It said via statement:

“Whether or not the woman in the video has a mental illness or other disability, Nicki Minaj’s unfortunate exchange with the elderly woman illustrates the importance for everyone to understand the nature of mental illness and its symptoms and the need for compassionate treatment.”

Added the organization:

One in five people in the United States will suffer from a mental illness at least once in their lifetime. That means anyone can be affected by it, even celebrities.

Celebrities should use their influence among young people in a positive manner to bring awareness to the real issues surrounding mental illness. Nobody would make fun of a cancer patient, and mental illness is an illness like any other.

Fortunately more and more celebrities are opening up about their struggles with mental health creating empathy among the public, and we hope these positive attitudes overshadow the mocking and stereotyping so common in our media.

All well said. And here’s a look at celebrities who do actually suffer from a mental illness:

Minaj has not yet commented on the incident.

But it would be in her best interest to issue a simple apology, say that she was unaware of the woman’s condition and then return to posting nip slip photos on social media instead.

Amy Schumer: Haters Are Pathetic, I Am NOT Fat!

Amy Schumer hit back hard over the Barbie Backlash of 2016!

After a good portion of the general public basically fat-shamed Amy Schumer after she was reportedly tapped to be cast as Barbie — She of the Impossible Proportions — Schumer went radio silent.

Last night, however, she broke that silence — and what she said was more moving and compelling than anything a fat-shamer could waft out onto the internet.

The comedienne eloquently wrote, “Very, very honored to be nominated for 2 Grammys and to be considered to play an important and evolving icon.”

You’d think that’d be enough — and honestly, it should be — but Amy continued, and cranked up the sass to 10.

“Is it fat-shaming if you know you’re not fat and have zero shame in your game? I don’t think so,” she quipped.

We don’t think so, either, Am, and good on you for finally standing up over this.

She continued, “I am strong and proud of how I live my life and say what I mean and fight for what I believe in and I have a blast doing it with the people I love.”

“Where’s the shame? It’s not there. It’s an illusion.”

“When I look in the mirror I know who I am,” Amy wrote.

“I’m a great friend, sister, daughter and girlfriend. I’m a badass comic headlining arenas all over the world and making TV and movies and writing books where I lay it all out there and I’m fearless like you can be.”

“Thanks to everyone for the kind words and support, and again my deepest sympathy goes out to the trolls who are in more pain than we will ever understand,” Schumer continued.

For most of us, our self-confidence would have taken a pretty big hit after this … but not Amy.

“I want to thank them for making it so evident that I am a great choice. It’s that kind of response that lets you know something’s wrong with our culture and we all need to work together to change it.”

She continued, “Anyone who has ever been bullied or felt bad about yourself I am out there fighting for you, for us.”

“And I want you to fight for yourself too! We need to laugh at the haters and sympathize with them.”

“They can scream as loud as they want. We can’t hear them because we are getting s–t done,” Schumer boasted.

“I am proud to lead by example,” she said. “I say if I’m beautiful, I say if I’m strong — you will not determine my story. I will.”

She signed the IG rant with #thegirlwiththelowerbacktattoo.

We don’t know about you, but if this doesn’t prompt Barbie execs to go ahead and fully tap that … er, cast Amy as the namesake character, they’re losing out bigly.

The Voice Results: Who Made the Season 11 Finals?!

Which FOUR singers are headed home after The Voice results were announced, and which four are headed to next week’s epic finale?

If you thought the previous three weeks – which cut the field down from 12 to eight – were suspenseful, this was downright nerve wracking.

For the elite eight, it went down to the wire Tuesday …

Billy Gilman, Sundance Head, Josh Gallagher and Christian Cuevas occupied the top four spots of the iTunes download charts Tuesday.

Brendan Fletcher, We McDonald, Ali Caldwell and Aaron Gibson … did not. In fact, none of those four even cracked the top ten list.

Downloads of The Voice Top 8 performances are only one aspect of The Voice results, along with online, Facebook and app votes.

And, of course, there is the Twitter save. But still … the downloads are often a pretty good indicator of who’s getting all kinds of votes.

How did it shake out at the end of the night? Let’s see:

The Top Three, Advancing to the Season Finale:

Billy Gilman (Team Adam)

Sundance Head (Team Blake)

Wé McDonald (Team Alicia)

It’s not clear the order in which they placed, but Billy and Sundance were locks, and We had the fan base to overcome one off night.

The Bottom Two, Instantly Eliminated:

Brendan Fletcher (Team Adam)

Aaron Gibson (Team Miley)

Not surprising, really, in terms of either grouping comprising those five. So that left three singers vying for the final, coveted placement.

Singing For Their Lives:

Christian Cuevas (Team Alicia)

Ali Caldwell (Team Miley)

Josh Gallagher (Team Adam)

None of their performances were game-changers, or deal-breakers, but Ali seemed to perform best. Twitter would have the final say.

Eliminated:

Christian Cuevas (Team Alicia)

Ali Caldwell (Team Miley)

Saved:

Josh Gallagher (Team Adam)

Well, there you have it. Josh will have his work cut out for him to compete with those three, and the producers will have to ask themselves:

Is this format really best? Should the playoffs be extended, and the eliminations done one or two at a time, throughout the live rounds?

Stevie J: Joseline Hernandez is a Certified Whack Job!

Stevie J IS the father of Joseline Hernandez’s impending baby.

This is no longer up for debate, as the Love & Hip Hop star has taken responsibility for fertilizing his occasional lover’s egg with his sperm.

Moreover, Stevie J even wrote on social media last week that “see himself getting back together” with Hernandez, despite Joseline having previously said Stevie was a deadbeat child molester and Stevie saying Joseline has serious mental issues.

Ah, kind of young love. It’s unpredictable, you know?

Along those lines, it now seems as if Stevie J is singing another tune yet again.

And this one isn’t in any sort of minor key. It centers on a key issue regarding Joseline and it accuses her of some majorly messed up stuff.

According to TMZ sources, Stevie J has filed actual legal documents that accuse Hernandez of being off her rocker, detailing incidents in which she made him fear for his life.

The (hilarious… to us) reality star alleges that Hernandez simply showed up to his home this past Sunday and busted up his face, leaving him with injured eyes.

Of course, on this same day, the on-again/off-again couple also shared a video of themselves acting all cute and cozy together.

But Stevie J says a physical confrontation followed this sweet moment.

In these legal documents, Stevie J says there was another recent encounter where Hernandez threatened him, lunged at him, tossed paperwork in his direction and unleashed a profanity-laced tirade at him.

(Perhaps she was just running lines and actions for an upcoming Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta scene?)

As a result of this reportedly scary interactions, Stevie J is asking a judge to order a psychological evaluation for his baby mama, along with anger management counseling.

He says he’s legitimately frightened that Joseline will hurt him … or their unborn child.

Heck, Stevie J has preemptively requested a guardian be appointed for the baby, who is due any week now.

This certainly isn’t the first time Stevie J has openly questioned Joseline’s mental state.

He previously agreed to take a paternity test as long as he would be rewarded primary physical custody of his child once he or she was born because he was afraid of what Hernandez might do to the baby.

We often mock Stevie J and Joseline Hernandez (for obvious reasons), but this has the potential to be a very unfunny situation.

Then again… it also has the potential to be nothing but storyline fodder for Stevie J’s upcoming VH1 reality show, which is a thing that will truly exist in just a couple weeks.

Check out the trailer now:

TMZ states that the second altercation referenced above took place at a DNA lab while Stevie underwent his DNA test.

Oh, and Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta cameras were filming at the time.

Because of course they were, right?

No word yet from anyone in Joseline’s camp regarding Stevie’s legal filing, but that’s probably because episodes of the VH1 reality program are yet to air.

As we look forward to the arrival of her offspring, we’ll also anticipate Hernandez throwing a few accusations back toward Stevie once producers send her the next script.
