The Voice Recap: Battling for Team Members

If the 12th season premiere of The Voice managed to show us some great singers, the second episode upped the ante.

With such great singers in the mix, it led to some tough decisions for the likes of Adam Levine, Alicia Keys, Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton.

Did they all get to add the performers they wanted to their roster of singers that would take them deep into the competition?

With ratings still flying high, it’s clear that viewers will tune in for The Voice no matter how many editions are on the air every year.

Do we care about the singing, or is it the differing dynamics amongst the judges that keep us tuning in?

In short, we have no idea, but we still keep watching. There’s something oddly addictive about watching these people bicker over who they want in their team.

Of course, it’s not malicious bickering.

Let’s run down the auditions that went well…

Autumn Turner

25-year-old Autumn went with “Last Dance” by Donna Summer. Autumn started things right with a pitch-perfect rendition of the classing song.

You could tell she was passionate about singing and managed to get all four chairs turned around, ready to fight for her.

It seemed like Adam’s positive language was going to win him the girl, but Alicia emerged with the win. Alicia is known for her beautiful high notes and Autumn should be nurtured well by the singer.

Jesse Larson

34-year-old Larson went with “Jealous Guy” by John Lennon. Adam was the only person impressed with the performance, but it was evident why: Steel guitar!

Adam has a knack for turning for singers that sound like something from Maroon 5. Hey, he’s probably best doing that because he gets to work with people that could benefit from his tips.

“I hear CeeLo Green in there. I hear the proficiency of Eddie Van Halen sometimes,” he says of the decision to choose Larson.

Aliyah Moulden

15-year-old Moulden went with “Hound Dog” by Big Mama Thornton and, boy, did she deliver. It was unbelievable, and she was vying for a spot on Team Alicia.

When Gwen, Alicia, and Blake turn around, Blake managed to swoop in when he let her know he was experienced in helping the younger generation find their place in the music industry.

“To be that calm in this setting at 15 years old, that’s who I want on my team,” he tells her.

Savannah Leighton

16-year-old Savannah was very nervous, yet still managed to sing “Unconditionally” by Katy Perry. It was not the best of the night. It was the worst.

This was down to Savannah’s nerves, but Blake and Gwen knew there was a good singer in there. They just needed to work on the nerves.

In the end, Savannah opted to join Team Gwen.

Lilli Passero

Lilli Passero sang “A Love of My Own” by Carla Thomas. There was something about that sounded very original. Her pitch went a little too high at one point.

For the most part, it was great, and she went to Team Alicia.

With two episodes in the can, it’s time to recap who the coaches are taking with them to the next stage of the competition:

  • Team Adam: Johnny Hayes, Mark Isaiah, Jesse Larson

  • Team Alicia: Anatalia Villaranda, Felicia Temple, Autumn Turner, Lilli Passero

  • Team Gwen: Joshua Hunter, Stephanie Rice, Savannah Leighton

  • Team Blake, Lauren Duski, Brennley Brown, Aliyah Moulden

What did you think of the performers who made it through to the next stage of the competition?

Corinne Olympios: Make Me The Bachelorette!

As previously noted, Corinne Olympios never wants to receive a rose ever again.

Speaking to Jimmy Kimmel just a couple hours after viewers saw her get eliminated on The Bachelor, Olympios said she was taking a new tact to dating.

She told the host that she was through trying to impress men… that they should just love her for who she truly is… and also:

“If anyone ever tries to give me red roses again, I think I might punch them in the face.”

That’s fair, right? Considering all she went through as one of the women who advanced very far on the latest season of this ABC competition?

Due to our unparalleled section of The Bachelor spoilers, we’ve known for weeks that Corinne would not win Nick Viall’s heart.

But the controversial contestant said throughout her media rounds on Tuesday that she was shocked when she didn’t receive a flower this week.

She was also heartbroken.

Still, this doesn’t mean Corinne wouldn’t be interesting in actually being the one to hand out roses at some point in the future.

Oh, yes, are you listening The Bachelorette producers? Someone is about to make you a pitch.

“That’d be really amazing,” Olympios told Entertainment Tonight of becoming The Bachelorette, adding:

“Of course I would do it, it’s an amazing opportunity for anyone who gets asked.”

Someone has already been asked, however.

ABC confirmed late last month that Rachel Lindsay will take on this role for Season 13, finally giving the series an African-American anchor.

We somehow doubt executives will change their mind and replace her with Corinne. Even if Corinne has proven that she’ll do pretty much anything on camera.

“People saying that I used sex or my sexuality to get roses is just stupid,” Olympios told ET, defending her personality on the show.

“I know I definitely was a little bit promiscuous, but it’s a TV show, so it did look a little more promiscuous and a little bit more heightened.

“But you know, I did what I did and you know, no regrets.”

Olympios told Kimmel that she never considered herself to be a villain because she never acted in a malicious manner to Nick or any of her fellow suitors.

But she is aware of the reputation she cultivated during her run on The Bachelor.

“I think that maybe I was a little bit slut-shamed, but come on, if there’s no sexual attraction then just don’t even bother,” she told ET. “To all you women out there, take that advice…

“Going on the show takes a lot of guts. If you’re going to do it, go big or go home, baby!”

And now Corinne has, indeed, gone home.

Will she end up on Bachelor in Paradise? It’s pretty safe bet.

Will she end up as The Bachelorette? The odds are against it?

But would you WANT to see her as The Bachelorette? Would you want to see her as The Bachelorette over Rachel Lindsay? There’s something we can at least debate.

And the Winner is?

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom: It"s (Respectfully) Over!

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are no longer dating.

But this doesn’t mean that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom are no longer getting along.

The singer and the actor, who had been together for just over a year, issued a joint statement on Tuesday night, updating fans about the change in their relationship status.

They wanted to get out ahead of any chatter that would start running rampant once word of their break-up went viral.

“Before rumors or falsifications get out of hand, we can confirm that Orlando and Katy are taking respectful, loving space at this time,” reads the statement.

Having not been seen in the same place for weeks, due to busy schedules, Perry and Bloom were spotted at the annual Vanity Fair Oscars party on Sunday.

They did not pose together on the red carpet of the event, however.

And while they chatted a bit once inside, a witness tells People Magazine that Katy and Orlando were clearly on different pages during the shindig.

“Katy didn’t spend much time with Orlando,” said the onlooker. “They got together for a photo, but that was about it.”

Perry and Bloom kept their romance quiet for the first few months, but it then became apparent just how serious things were between the stars.

There was once talk of an engagement.

In December, folks started to wonder if Perry was pregnant with Bloom’s baby.

While not exact reason was cited for the split, both Bloom and Perry have been traveling the globe of late. On their own.

The actor, for example, recently returned from a UNICEF mission to Diffa, the southeast region of Niger.

In late January, he also visited a high school in Greater Manchester, England in order to spend time with a drama class taught by his former teacher.

Perry, meanwhile, has been been busy promoting and performing her new single, “Chained to the Rhythm.”

She did so first at the Grammys in Los Angeles last month… and then in Great Britain at the BRIT Awards.

She’ll take to the stage again at the iHeartRadio Music Awards on Sunday in Los Angeles.

In other words: this really may have been a cast of busy schedules breaking a famous couple apart.

Prior to hooking up, Perry was married to Russell Brand, while Bloom was wed to Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares a six-year-old son named Flynn.

As much as we love drama here at The Hollywood Gossip, it doesn’t sound as if we’ll be adding Perry and Bloom to the photo gallery above.

This seems to be a mature, amicable break-up.

We wish both of the stars luck in their future personal endeavors.

Beyonce Shares NEW, Gorgeous Pregnancy Pics

Under doctor’s orders, Beyonce will no longer be performing at Coachella.

But that doesn’t mean fans have seen the last of the singer’s baby bump prior to Beyonce giving birth.

The beloved artist made sure of that on Tuesday evening when she shared a slew of new pregnancy photos on her official website.

In typical Beyonce fashion, the pictures were released without any warning.

And they did not include any captions or commentary.

But People Magazine has confirmed that Beyonce and Jay Z swung by the Weinstein Company and Grey Goose’s party for the Academy Award-nominated movie Lion at the Montage in Beverly Hills, California.

Prior to leaving home, Beyonce struck a few poses in her $ 420 fitted, long-sleeved green Nicole Miller dress.

As you can see above and below, the superstar accessorized this outfit with a ruby-themed choker and glittery matching bangles.

In case you (somehow) missed the announcement, Beyonce is pregnant with twins.

The singer confirmed this long-gestating rumor one month ago when she shared a revealing photo on Instagram and wrote as a caption along with it:

We would like to share our love and happiness.

We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes. – The Carters

That photo, unsurprisingly, is now the most-Liked photo in the history of social media.

Since the announcement, neither Beyonce nor Jay Z has said anything else about the impending babies.

We don’t know their gender or their names.

But that doesn’t mean the wildly famous tandem has remained behind closed doors.

Heck, Beyonce actually performed at the Grammy Awards just two weeks after nearly destroying the Internet with her pregnancy announcement.

You can (nay, you should!) check out that performance below.

She and Jay Z also sat front row for the NBA All-Star Game in New Orleans.

Prior to Beyonce taking the Grammys state, she was introduced by her mother.

“What makes me most proud and why why I’m here tonight to introduce Beyoncé is the devotion and love I see in here for my daughter, and the way she has always expressed love to all of those around her,” Tina Knowles Lawson said at the event.

This isn’t the first time Beyonce has given followers and up-close-and-personal look at her baby bump, either.

Just a day after informing us that she’ll be bringing two new lives into the world, Beyonce shared a number of pregnancy images online.

Some were semi-naked. Some included her daughter, Blue Ivy. All were mesmerizing.

Relive one of the most popular and interesting photo shoots of all-time right here and now:

We cannot wait to meet Beyonce and Jay Z’s little ones.

The stars have yet to announce a due date, but take a look at all the pictures posted above; it clearly can’t be too far away.

By this summer at the latest, we’d have to imagine Blue will have a pair of new siblings and Americans will have a reason to wake up every day once again.

It’s gonna be awesome.
