McDonald’s has denied having a Twitter beef with Donald Trump.
(Get it? McDonald’s and a Twitter beef? Because the company is in the business of making hamburgers? We’ll wait for you to stop laughing…)
On Thursday, around 9:16 a.m., the global fast food chain Tweeted the following message:
“@RealDonaldTrump You are actually a disgusting excuse of a President and we would love to have @BarackObama back, also you have tiny hands.”
It doesn’t get much more pointed than than that, does it?
The insult remained live on the McDonald’s account for about an hour before it was unpinned and deleted, amassing over 1,000 retweets in that time.
But then McDonald’s published a new message, claiming that its account had been compromised and an investigation had been launched to find the culprit.
“Twitter notified us that our account was compromised,” Terri Hickey, a spokesperson for McDonald’s, said in a statement.
She added:
“We deleted the tweet, secured our account and are now investigating this.”
Hacking, of course, is the go-to excuse for any celebrity who Tweets something he or she later takes down and regrets.
It’s rarely a believable excuse.
But we’re willing to buy it in this case, considering the wide and varied clientele of McDonald’s around the country.
It’s hard to imagine the chain would want to anger so many Donald Trump voters via such a (hilarious and random) Tweet.
Moreover, Trump has been known to enjoy himself some McDonald’s!
After clinching the 1,237 delegates needed to win the Republican presidential nomination in May, Trump shared a photo of himself with McDonald’s fries and an uneaten burger while riding on his airplane.

In February, meanwhile, Trump expressed his love for the fast food chain during a Republican town hall on CNN.
During the event, he told Anderson Cooper that he prefers chowing down on Big Macs, Quarter Pounders with cheese and fish… and even praised the look of the stores.
“I like cleanliness,” he said at the time, adding:
“And I think you’re better off going [to McDonald’s] than maybe some place that you have no idea where the food is coming from.”
Yes, not content with pitting various types of people against each other, Trump has even managed to create restaurant rivalries across the world.
It’s been quite the eventful week for President Trump.
A portion of his tax returns were released on The Rachel Maddow Show on Tuesday night, although they failed to reveal any wrongdoing on the part of the Commander-in-Chief.
Then, Trump lashed out at Snoop Dogg, Tweeting that the rapper ought to be in jail after Snoop released a music video that featured him holding a prop gun to the head of “President Ronald Krump.”
