As reality stars for much of their lives, Josiah and Joseph Duggar are used to having mundane and milestone events alike aired on TLC.
Still, the bros say there are some things fans never see.
In an interview with their host network, Joseph Duggar, 22, and Josiah Duggar, 20, were asked if there are moments they wish were shown.
Josiah said that at this point, “there’s pretty much nothing they have not captured yet,” but his older brother Joseph begs to differ. Sort of.
He thinks TLC should spend a little more time inside the Duggar boys’ bedroom … but not for reasons as eyebrow-raising as that sounds.
The male Duggars are heavy sleepers, he says.
“I think one thing they haven’t captured is in the morning,” Joseph tells TLC, for some reason finding this particular example noteworthy.
“All the alarms going off in the boys’ room. We’re pretty hard sleepers just because there’s so many kids in the house,” Joseph said.
“You don’t wake up to people coming in the bedroom if it’s like, midnight or something, coming in from work or something like that,” he said.
“You just kind of learn to sleep through it.”
The unmarried Duggar sons share a room in the family’s 7,000-square-foot house. Among the guys, only Josh Duggar has moved out.
Interestingly (or creepily), the custom home was built with Jim Bob and Michelle’s first-born son’s former child molesting ways in mind.
Josh had been sneaking into his younger sisters’ rooms and molesting them in the middle of the night in the family’s previous residence.
This, of course, was the early 2000s, when he was a teenager. A decade later, in 2015, two women blew the whistle on Josh’s molestation.
While constructing their compound, Jim Bob and Michelle placed the shared girls’ and boys’ bedrooms on opposite ends of the upstairs.
Literally handling the situation “in house” rather than calling the cops, the parents therefore placed a couple of obstacles in Josh’s path.
In any case, Josiah and Joseph are two of the five Duggar boys over age 18 who are still sharing that room, but this may change shortly.
Joseph Duggar and Kendra Caldwell, 18, are courting, so we can all but certainly expect to see them walking down the aisle on TLC.
Of course, Joseph Duggar serves as the lone example of how a courtship can go south, as he and Marjorie Jackson shockingly split.
Josiah’s role on the show may grow too, though.
Preparing for Jinger Duggar and Jeremy Vuolo’s wedding was a major focal point last season, and Josiah said it was a thrill for him.
“I really enjoy just the whole wedding preparation, all that stuff,” Josiah said. “I actually didn’t do as much as some of the other boys.”
“Just being behind the scenes and all the craziness of the family working on it … it’s hard, but we enjoy working on those things together.”
“For me, I think it’s very similar to Josiah,” Joseph said of his favorite 19 Kids and Counting and/or Counting On times in recent memory.
“Just working alongside my family, doing different things.”
“And now the car business that our family is able to run is really a good time working together,” he adds, again bringing us back to Josh.
The Duggar boys make money buying used cars at auctions and “flipping” them for a profit, something their disgraced brother has embraced.
A big part of Josh Duggar’s net worth is now tied up in this, following his loss of work as a lobbyist in D.C. and his long stint in sex rehab.
Jinger Duggar said that her “little brothers were making a lot of money” restoring automobiles, which tried her hand at for a while as well.
The Duggars are people of many business ventures, as Jim Bob Duggar’s net worth proves, and a good thing too, with all those kids.
Raising 19 of them isn’t cheap, and Joseph Duggar will soon have a wife and family of his own, so it’s good to have a trade of several.
You know, besides the reality TV gravy train.
