Big Little Lies Season 2: Will It Happen?!?

Big Little Lies has come to an explosive end.

But did the Season 1 finale on Sunday night mark the end?

That’s what fans of the HBO drama want to know.

On the explosive finale, we were finally taken to the school’s trivia night, which had been teased all season long.

And we finally learned both who died and who killed this individual. (Warning: SPOILERS AHEAD!)

It turned out that Celeste (Nicole Kidman) approached the awful Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) and finally said she was leaving him, a development we’d been dying to witness after endless acts of abuse … which have now begun to impact the couple’s two sons.

It was also revealed that Max, one of their twins, was the bully that had been hurting Renata’s daughter throughout the season.

Not too shocking, right?

But just you wait…

Celeste asked Madeline (Reese Witherspoon) and Jane (Shailene Woodley) to help her with Perry, only for Jane to then realize he was the man who raped her.

In a chaotic and climactic scene, Renata teamed up with Jane to take Perry down, with Bonnie swooping in to push this villain to his death.

“He becomes nuts again,” director Jean-Marc Vallee told The Hollywood Reporter of that conclusion, adding:

“But that would be the last time because he doesn’t realize he has the ultimate force of nature in front of him. These women are so powerful. Together, they are as powerful as the ocean and the ocean is f-cking angry.”

Vallee also spoke to the publication about the future of the series, which brought in big names and strong reviews.

Does that mean a second season is on the way?

The series wrapped up with the women being watched on the beach.

There appears to be a direction it could go in for another set of episodes, if everyone involved is on board, that is.

“The detective doesn’t want to let go and that’s how we finish that,” Vallee said of the possibility.

“And we think, “Did they do the right thing? What will happen?"”

The director doesn’t sound as if he thinks there’s more story to tell here, however.

“Now it’s up to the audience and their imagination to figure out. To do a season two, I’m not for it. Let’s move on and do something else!” he said, adding:

“If there’s an opportunity to reunite with Reese, Nicole and these characters of course, I’ll be a part of it, but Big Little Lies One is a one-time deal. Big Little Lies Two? Nah.

“The end is for the audience to talk about. Imagine what you want to imagine and that’s it. We won’t give you a season two because it’s so good like this. Why spoil it?”

That’s a good question and a fair point.

But still! This show was so much fun!
