It can be nearly impossible to discern truth from mere celebrity gossip when conversation shifts to the Suits actress and the Royal Hunk.
Just last week, for example, strong Internet chatter implied that Markle and Harry got engaged while on a trip to Africa.
“The whole proposal was the private, free and expressive moment he had hoped for,” a source told Star Magazine of Harry allegedly popping the question in a country that meant a lot to his late mother.
Hooray for the wildly famous twosome?!? Not quite. Not yet, at least.
“Harry and Meghan are not engaged yet, reports that they are are jumping the gun slightly,” an insider tells Hollywood Life, adding that the stars are “definitely headed in that direction.”
It’s worth nothing, however, that when the major development does at last take place, you won’t read about it first in a supermarket tabloid.
“When they do get engaged, Harry will follow Royal protocol and an announcement will be made by the Palace,” this same Buckingham source says.
Oh. We guess that makes sense.
The actress and the prince have been dating for about a year and a half now.
They’ve said basically nothing about their romance to the press, but they aren’t trying to hide their feelings, either.
They take trips together. They reportedly engaged in a bit of PDA on said trips.
The relationship is clearly very serious, which is why an anxious world awaits that inevitable proposal news.
“Harry and Meghan are very much in love, but they both want to make completely sure that they are ready to take the next step before doing so,” Hollywood Life writes.
The Royal Family, of course, was broken up many years ago after Prince Charles had an affair and split from Princess Diana.
“Harry does not want to make the same mistake as his mother and father did,” this insider explains. “When he marries it will be for life, and it’s not something he is going to rush into.”
Aside from the feelings involved, there’s the practical matter of what Markle will do with her life.
Will she give up acting and become a full-time Royal once that ring is on her finger?
“There’s all manor of things Harry and Meghan need to decide before getting engaged, like where they will live, and if Meghan will continue with her acting career,” says this source.
“She’s made it clear that she would like to continue working, and to do that she needs to spend a large amount of her time in Canada and the U.S.”
Seriously, if this engagement means the end of Suits on USA Network, we will not be happy!
