Late last week, Jay Z spoke on his ongoing feud with Kanye West.
The rapper said his former friend and collaborated crossed a line when he talked about Jay Z’s family in public.
That was a fair and understandable assessment of the situation.
Now, meanwhile, Jay Z finally spoken on his alleged feud with Solange Knowles, making it as clear as possible in a new interview:
There is no actual feud!
In May of 2014, the husband of Beyonce and the sister of Beyonce were captured by surveillance video in a New York City hotel elevator.
They were clearly arguing and, at one point, it appeared as if Solange kicked, punched and lunged at her brother-in-law.
Neither star has ever really addressed the situation, leaving social media users to wonder what the heck happened and many to assume that Jay Z’s infidelity was to blame for this altercation.
Speaking recently to Rap Radar hosts Elliott Wilson and Brian “B.Dot” Miller, the artist did not cite the basis for his disagreement with Solange
But he did make it clear that the contentious water between them is so far under the bridge that it’s barely even a puddle at this point. Heck, it’s not even a drop.
“We had one disagreement ever. Before and after we’ve been cool,” said Jay Z, adding for emphasis:
“She’s like my sister. I will protect her. That’s my sister, not my sister-in-law. My sister. Period.”
Beyonce barely reacted to her sister and husband going at it in the aforementioned footage.
Take that for what you will, Jay Z doesn’t really care.
He knows where things stand within his family and he’s certainly grown used to various rumors about him on the Internet at this point.
“We’ve always had a great relationship,” rapper added of Solange.
“I fought my brothers and argued with my brothers my whole life. It just so happens, who we are, these things go into a different space. But it ain’t nothing.”
While Jay Z is talking as if he didn’t give the elevator incident a second thoughts, music fans and conspiracy theorists can’t help but wonder:
The star’s new album is titled “4:44.”
The address of Le Bain, the rooftop bar of the hotel in which Jay and Solange argued, is 444 West 13th Street. Makes you think and speculate, doesn’t it?
For the record, this is the same interview that featured Jay Z touching on Kanye, telling the hosts of their beef:
“What really hurt me, you can’t bring my kid or my wife into it. … We’ve gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it, now it’s a problem with me.”
